I came here as I'm in the local area and I came in and ordered a Special Combination Laksa with Yellow Noodles and Rice Vermicelli.
The décor is pretty good. It's fairly basic but functional. As. far as I know, it was opened in 2010 on the same space that Baba House used to be. The service for my Laksa after taking the order was less than 5 minutes so extremely quick.
The laksa was really good. It was creamy and had Coconut Milk undertones without being overpowering. It's rich but it's really nice. You can also ask for mild, spicy or extra spicy. The laksa could come with crispy pork skin for no extra charge, but I didn't order it. The noodles were just right. The ingredients were chicken, prawns and fish cake. It also comes with eggplant as standard. also you can ask for chili or sambal oelek (ground chili paste).
If you want peanuts, go for a roti with peanut sauce for an entrée, which leaves space for the spicy salt and pepper calamari or a laksa as a main. Or maybe just anything with seafood, as they do it well here. The wine is BYO but the alcohol menu is reasonably stocked. Vegetarians are very well represented as there are many options for them and they will create a vegetarian version of a meat dish.
The prices for one dish is about $10-15. With an entrée, desert and drink, the price is around $30-35 per head max. The atmosphere is completely relaxed and comfortable.
Parking on Errol St. is metered (and also can be hard to find due to the Comic Lounge being located 2-3 doors down) until 6:30pm Monday-Friday. When free it's 2 hours. For free parking before 6:30pm, park on Leveson St or Queensberry St but check signs (kerbside spaces only, median parking is metered until 6:30pm M-F as well).
Overall, I would come back here again to try different dishes. read more
