Of course I recommend The Sewing Basket for all of your fabric needs! Located in the quaint…read moredowntown area of Plymouth Wisconsin, the Sewing Basket has a tremendous selection of fabric- roughly four-large-rooms combined. I am always drawn into fabric stores while on a quest to secure fabric for my supremely artistic twin sister. I am not a quilter/crafter/sewer by any means. My twin sister has not met a fabric store she hasn't fallen in love with. So, for her, I went to the shop with no intention of purchasing material. I sent her photos of material. Next thing you know....one hour later... three large bags of material and $200 later, I escaped. Needless to say, my twin was pleased. Her particular favorites included the fabric with sewing cats and the Wisconsin-outdoor-printed fabrics. The Sewing Basket seems to be a community favorite- a gathering spot and a place that offers classes. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.

For a yarn shop...I'd declare this a 3 star but the fabric selection was super cute!! I'm not much…read moreof a sewer but I found the fabric to be cute and there were so many samples! I stopped in when there was a Green Bay Shop Hop and there was a designer trunk show ; how lucky!! I'd say this is sort of a nice "craft" shop though small, they have quality. The yarn selection was pretty limited. I saw lots of Plymouth and Hikoo yarns, several nice samples, and plenty of color choices plus a bit of hand-dyed. I noticed a beautiful wooden acorn needle keeper which was made locally: BONUS! Staff was friendly but I'd say if you're a hard-core knitter like me, you don't need to stop here but it is an adorable place.

Each time I was very pleased with their repair services, as well as their willingness to help fix my machines, which is something you don't find in today's throw-away society. They are a family owned business, and treat you as family. They also sell huge computerized sewing machines and vacuums, but don't be intimidated that they can't help you and your small machine out, they provide a great service at very reasonable prices. You can never have too much time in fabric places. I liked this shop, good space for longarm machine and classes and a decent selection of fabric. I was oddly ignored when I came in and when I went to get my fabric cut. I heard and saw other people greeted and asked if they wanted their fabric cut. I stood for a while and then did one of those Yoohoo type deals. The woman was pleasant enough but it was strange to feel so invisible. It was fun to drop in on our way home but not worth a special trip. I did get some decent solids for an upcoming project and their solid selection was, well, solid!
