Don't let his quiet demeanor fool you...Kevin knows his stuff and knows how to get the best out of each player! Our oldest started working with Kevin about 2 years go. Although other parts of his game was solid, his confidence at the plate was low and it showed in his hitting. Kevin worked with him, not only to fine tune his natural swing to get more power out of it but on the often undercoached mental aspects of baseball. First my son and now my daughter have have worked with KJ over a total of six years and I've recommended him to many friends and team families. While hitting has been his primary focus with both of my kids, I have not hesitated to ask for his help with other aspects of the game including fielding, mental preparation and how to deal with adversity on and off the field. Having seen many coaching styles over the years from Rec leagues to highly competitive levels of softball I can say without hesitation that KJ's approach helps players achieve on the field results and enjoy the game more. What struck me most about KJ is his approach to meeting each and every player where they are. He doesn't break them down so he can teach them "the one way" to be a better hitter, etc... He works with their existing skillset and builds a repeatable understanding of the physical and mental fundamentals that will lead them to better, more sustained results. After dealing with competitive 10U and 12U travel ball coaches who focus more on highlighting player's flaws and grinding them down while not really teaching players anything, KJ is both a breath of fresh air and just an overall great human being that I look forward to my kids interacting with. He achieves results through positive reinforcement. He'll pause occasionally to highlight an area where the player needs to focus, both describing the mechanic to work on and helping the player to understand what to "feel" so she/he builds muscle memory. The other area where KJ's approach stands out is that he understands kids that aspire to play at more competitive levels also need to build physical strength. While there is a good bit of chatter between player and coach, his sessions are no picnic when it comes to getting work done. Players get a ton of reps. This one quote from KJ, to me, sums up why he's the best, "I just try to teach the game the same way I'd want someone else to teach my kids." Give KJ a try, you won't regret it. read more

We first met KJ in 2017 when my son was in second grade. He is now in late middle school and has met with him on a nearly weekly basis. When he first started, my son needed basic instruction on the principles of hitting. During the time they have worked together, he has developed into a successful hitter who made the all star team in his league. As he has progressed, KJ has continued to adapt his approach to working with him, introducing new challenges while remaining encouraging. He has also worked with my son on fielding and pitching. I have been impressed with his ability to break down the fundamentals of pitching. He analyzed my son's mechanics and made suggestions that helped my son to throw strikes more consistently. Over the course of last couple of seasons, my son gained confidence in all areas of his play. I have seen my son take what he has learned from KJ in his lessons and apply it successfully during games. My son is now playing at the 13U-15U level on a full sized baseball field for the first time. Given the new challenges of tougher competition and having to use a heavier and longer bat, KJ has worked with my son to break down his swing and helped him to improve his follow through and learn to recognize different pitches and react more quickly and effectively when he sees them. KJ provides helpful specific advice that my son can incorporate immediately. At subsequent lessons KJ follows up on that advices and makes adjustments as needed. Most importantly, my son's love for baseball has deepened in large part because of his work with KJ. As an ex-major leaguer KJ not only has an extensive knowledge of the game but also has a natural rapport with kids. My 16 yr old daughter started training with KJ in August of 2022 and we haven't looked back. Yes, he's a hitting instructor but there's way more to it. Anybody who's ever played competitive sports knows the mental aspect is equally if not more important. KJ delivers on both. His hitting knowledge is obvious, and he articulates swing mechanics, while keeping it simple and straightforward. Often times he'll grab a bat and demonstrate exactly what he means. He builds the swing one piece at a time rather than throwing everything at a player at once. And then there's what my daughter and I call "KJ Nuggets."
