The Phoenix Gallery offers unique offerings and interesting little oddities for everyone. They have everything from chip & dip bowls to earrings. This store has been around for awhile. I remember shopping at their former location when I first moved to Lawrence in 1991. I was just as mesmerized then as I am now. This store is so big, it is actually two levels. On this visit, I was so overwhelmed that I only visited the first level. I did not dare go upstairs because I knew there would be so many more temptations for me. There is everything from crafted rare wood bowls to dichroic glass. Everything is displayed very neatly and in an eye catching way. The proprietors have done a great job at showcasing the artists they support. The staff was very nice and helpful. They were patient while I asked my usual 1,000 questions and asked to see everything they had in the locked cases. lol. They were extremely kind. There is parking in front of the store, if you are lucky enough to get a space. That is the only downside to shopping downtown and that is finding a parking space. There is a new mobile app system the city is using for parking and it is convenient once you figure it out. Prices are very reasonable for these artistic pieces. I was surprised considering this store is in a high rent building and these pieces are handcrafted. If you want something out of the ordinary and one-of-a-kind... I highly recommend the Phoenix Gallery. It's like a real live Etsy store but better!

Shop claim to fame. The coordinated accessories, which include shoes, jewelry, watches, sunglasses, belts and more, are very nice, but they're not any more attractive than the other accessories throughout the store and a bit pricey for my taste. If I splurge here, I'll take the ultra cool Macintosh-inspired lamps over the pricey-but-average Brighton items any day.

A bit expensive, but then again charms do come from Italy, and the jewelry is high quality being hand made sterling silver. The home decor is quite nice, being an art deco (FLW influence) style. But the Brighton does overpower, making me gag a little on all the coordinated, shiny, accessories. We have sold a few things to this pawn shop, but not again after today…read more My fiance went in here to sell a Cry Baby guitar pedal and a 14k gold pendant. They had to test my necklace to ensure the gold is real. However, he only tested the chain the pendant was attached to (which was a fake gold chain I had grabbed quickly out of my jewelry box to attach to it so we wouldn't lose it). They refused the sale saying the entire necklace saying it was all fake gold. So now, I have a ruined chain with a black spot on the center of it because he didn't test the chain in a hidden area like a clasp, and they weren't supposed to test the chain period because I WAS NOT SELLING THE CHAIN. Then was super rude saying the entire thing was fake and didn't give my fiance a chance to tell him that we weren't selling the chain, and that we knew it was fake. I called to ask why and he said they don't accept pendants without the chain. That's fine, But you need to tell people that BEFORE you RUIN the jewelry they aren't even trying to sell you. THIS PENDANT IS 14K GOLD AND I SOLD IT TO THE NEXT PAWN SHOP FOE $50 DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY TESTED THE APPROPRIATE ITEM! After accusing us of trying to sell a fake necklace, they undercut the price on the Cry Baby even though they were just saying how they sold 3 of them this week. We turned down their low-ball offer because they were so rude and ruined my necklace chain. Do not go here to buy or sell. They low-ball you and then sell your item like it is new.

My most recent trip was to scout out tux rentals and they could not have been more helpful. They were priced better than others I'd met with, and were friendly and on the ball. They have customized Jayhawk/Southern Tide shirts, well crafted dress shirts & polos, and some awesome KC Royals belts filling the guys section.
