I was in need of a reputable jeweler to replace the battery and inspect my husband's KU insignia watch he received from his father when he graduated in 1996. He wanted to gift it to our son who was graduating this spring in Computer Engineering. Marks did a spectacular job of looking it over, cleaning it, and replacing the battery. I had 6 batteries replaced today. I was quoted $170.00 which is extremely expensive, but I wanted it done today so I was okay with it. When I picked up my watches, the same person informed me it would be $240.00. She said the cost of two of my watch batteries was more than anticipated. This sounds ridiculous!!! She had my phone number but didn't call me to confirm that I would be okay with this steep increase in price. I am not happy about this and will never do business with them again. read more

This review is specifically about clock repair. I've now had 4 clocks repaired by Alan (sp?): A grandfather clock for which he came to my house to diagnose, take back to the shop, repair, and bring back, as well as an antique Kundo German anniversary clock, a 25 year old German Black Forest cuckoo clock, and an antique Jefferson clear face electric clock. Took my wife's Cartier watch here to get it engraved after we bought it at the Cartier boutique in NYC. The lady that helped us initially when we walked in was pleasant and easy to work with. She had my wife's ring cleaned while we waited- so far so good. When we handed her the watch she handled it rather haphazardly, fumbling it around and just stuffing it into a normal white envelope. Not how I would treat a nice watch, but at least she was kind. When my wife picked up her watch a few days later she called me and said it didn't look quite right. When I got home I would say that was an understatement. Engraving was completely crooked an off-center! She then explained to me that the lady helping her this time (different associate from the drop off date) was very rude and made her feel like she was being an inconvenience for being a paying customer. If you read some other reviews you will see that people have mentioned a certain associate being rude. I don't understand why someone would be rude to customers shopping for expensive jewelry. Needless to say, I think their work is low quality and I certainly wouldn't go back. Only reason for two stars is the lady who helped us the first day was kind and attentive- one star other than that. read more

The store itself is very nice and they seem to have a nice selection which includes an IWC Pilot's watch that I really liked. Onto the reason I stopped in... I needed spring bars for my watch and needed them installed because during a relocation I lost my watch repair kit. The girl that "helped" me took my watch to the back and shortly thereafter brought my watch back. Placing it rather deliberately on the counter. (she took no care at all.) The strap was on backwards and, as such, i mentioned it, so she, again, went to the back and shortly returned. This time she said, "here" and placed it down again which would have resulted in my watch case being slammed onto the counter had I not intercepted and put my hand out. There was no "there you go, see if that works... " or "how is that?" Etc. nothing above and beyond whatsoever. My watch was a big investment and for it to be mistreated as such really put a bad taste in my mouth. After all of this all she says to me is, "that'll be ten dollars." No " thank you!" From her. Such a shame! I really liked that IWC, though! read more

My boyfriend and I took my engagement ring, which we purchased from another jeweler, here to be resized. When we took the ring in we had some questions about the warranty since we didn't buy it from them. The girl at the counter was kind of rude and acted as though we were wasting her time. When we went to pick up the ring all the sales associates were with other customers and didn't even acknowledge that we had waked in the door or bother to say "hello, we'll be right with you". So we took a seat in their waiting area and waited patiently for the next available associate. Another couple walked in after us and walked to the center of the sales floor. A few minutes later another sales associate came out and started helping them. None of the other sales associates bothered to tell him that we were there first and had been waiting. Once the next associate was available we got up and walked to the counter. She was nice and greeted us with a smile. I told her that we were there to pick up the ring. She went and got it for us. I must say for such horrible service their work is excellent. I could not even tell that the ring had been resized. The ring has several accent diamonds on the sides and they were all still perfectly intact. Although their service isn't the best, I would take my ring back for any maintenance or other work because they do quality work. read more

So, i found a wedding ring set on Craigslist and had the lady meet me at Marks to have it inspected before purchasing. . They looked it over and said that the ring was in good shape with no flaws and that they could resize it for me as well. So 3 weeks later I drop it off to get the work done. They said it would be @2 weeks. A week later I get a call saying the center diamond needs new prongs or atleast new tips. So on top of all the ca$h I dished out for the ring and the original $136 to get both rings resized, the total jumped to @$270. If I had known the ring needed work, I wouldn't have paid as much as I did in the purchase. I thought I was saving money and getting a deal when they appraised the ring and looked it over. And now I'm finding out that the total in what I paid for the ring plus the cost in adjustments, that if were to ad an additional $200 to that, I could of bought the ring new at the store. Well? After going in to speak face to face letting them know I found a place who would do it for less. They said they would try and match the lower price. They dropped the total down to $200 flat. Although I was disappointed at first, I left satisfied. read more
