South Coast Botanic Garden - 4/12/26

First time here …read more It was a pleasant surprise to find this beautiful garden area in the city . We came here to see specifically to see the Trolls by artist Thomas Dambo that come here annually. There are 12 Trolls placed about the park which you walk to find. You are instructed to follow the "sparkles" that show which way to go along the paths throughout the garden. We were fortunate to meet a regular patron of this park , and he graciously led us to each Troll. He also shared additional information about the garden and pointed out unique points of interest too. We had a great time looking for the Trolls and enjoyed the lovely day walking around these gardens . * I ended up purchasing an annual pass at the end of our tour. Today's entry fee was applied toward the pass too. Looking forward in coming again.

First time visitor! I experienced the Trolls and Butterflies! Both were definitely an experience I…read morehighly recommend! What a joyful day. The South Coast Botanic Gardens is organized well by the staff. It is easy to navigate, however, their wifi internet connection is horrible, thus the 4 stars. If you want more information, you can scan the QR code at each troll, but in our case, it only buffered for several minutes, so we gave up. We also learned for a fee, you can get more information on each troll, but we passed on paying more for that and enjoyed just seeing these wonderful wooden creations. We truly enjoyed the trolls and I am so grateful the trolls are here until October 2026. The butterfly experience was fun fun fun! It is a small enclosed area and I learned more butterflies are on their way. We arrived the second day of opening. The weather was chilly and many of the butterflies were resting, so it was hard to see them. It doesn't matter, we were very happy to be in this special enclosed space. The staff here answered our questions and we told them they were fortunate to volunteer there. Parking: plenty of free parking on site. Do arrive early. The temperature was nice in the morning to walk around and parking was easy. As we were leaving, it was getting more crowded. We saw a place that sold food, but we passed on this and drove to a restaurant to have lunch.

The venue is beautiful, but do not have your event on a holiday or weekend during the day because…read morethe parking is awful and the picnicking public is on the front steps and lawn and continually comes to the door asking to use the restrooms. A weekday or evening would be better, and if possible, bring your own caterer.

The Venue and Food: RBH is a beautiful location, and their customer service is truly outstanding…read more During the preparation process, they always responded within a couple of days. The only issue we ran into was with the guests that had special food requests (gluten free, allergies, etc.)---there was a slight mix-up and some of them didn't get their food until much much later on in the night. The food though, was great overall! People kept talking about the chicken and the salmon. I remember the guests commenting on how delicious the food was. I remember that my husband and my sister (she went to the food tasting, since I couldn't make it from Northern California), said that they weren't too impressed during the tasting, but they really blew it out of the water for the day of! Kathy: Kathy is so sweet, friendly, and professional--very extroverted! She made sure that all the details were taken care of and the night went rather smoothly. We were a bit scared because I was checking the weather and it read: sunny, sunny, sunny, sunny, BLUSTERY, sunny, sunny. That blustery day? Wedding day. Ugh, right? But fear not, Kathy made sure it all worked out, and we were still able to do the ceremony outside! DJ Lance: GREAT guy. Super sweet, friendly, and he played such great songs. We gave him a list of songs we'd like, and he rolled with the punches and went for it. He also led our guests in a jeopardy game about my husband and me, in order to dismiss the tables for the buffet food. He projected a powerpoint of us as a couple, growing up, in our respective towns. The guests absolutely LOVED him, as did we. We are quite happy that we chose RBH. After about 10 in-person interviews of other locations, we do not regret our decision.

Growing up in the South Bay, Torrance Cultural Arts Center became near and dear to my heart. When I…read morewas younger I took different classes dance classes here. I remember taking ballet as kid and modern dance as a teen. I also took a workout class when I was in college. I always appreciated the large and spacious dance studios where the classes were held. Now that I'm older I've also come to appreciate Torrance Cultural Arts Center as a venue. I've been to several different festivals here such as the Japanese Matsuri Festival and Lunar New Year festival. This spot is perfect for the community to get together and like how each festival is able to have many different booths. I also love how there is a stage area both outside and inside. I've also attended the Torrance Firefighters' Annual Spaghetti Dinner here. This is another great event at this spacious venue. Despite it being quite a popular dinner, there''s plenty of room for all to enjoy an evening out. Torrance Cultural Arts Center is great! Whether it be for classes or community events or festivals, this spot is perfect for small or large gatherings.

First time here. Found it through social media. Glad we went! 2026 Torrance Lunar Year Festival…read more It was so festive! Although a small community event, it was bigger than I thought. There were food vendors, arts and crafts, music, performers, lion dance, magician doing magic tricks, ballroom dancers, a lot of vendors promoting services as well as other sellers selling decor, ornaments, plush, garment/clothing, etc. There were a lot of things to see! They even have a small area to do a small arts and crafts paper lantern for the kids! You can even go further in and see the small koi pond and peaceful garden (PINE WIND GARDEN). The mayor was there along with other community and local city members. They sure pulled some strings to make that small event happen. It was so fun and memorable.
