My boyfriend and I adopted a male snowshoe kitten from Kitty Devore back in May as a companion for our older female kitten. The application process was long, but not unlike any other rescue group application. I heard back very quickly that our application had been approved, and not long after I was in contact with the foster of the kitten, Amanda. Within a few days, we were able to meet him. He was a "soon to be adoptable" kitten because of his very young age, so we had to wait a few weeks to finally take him home, but the wait was worth it! He was healthy, energetic, and very well taken care of in foster. We couldn't be happier with our newest addition. If we ever adopted again, we would definitely adopt from Kitty Devore a second time! Thanks Amanda for all of your help, you are a wonderful foster! And thank you to Kitty Devore!

Foxy's foster mom was great and actually brought her to our house which I appreciated.

My recent experience of having my dog PUPPY dog-napped from the Walmart parking lot brought me in contact with the L. B. shelter and at that time I was near total mental/emotional breakdown. They greeted me with warmth, concern and understanding, sharing the process as well as others nearby shelters and Internet sites that may help me locate the DEAR PUPPY. Almost two weeks later when the man walked in with my dog (groomed) they immediately notified me. The Lieutenant is very friendly and courteous she offered a available services (neuter/chip) which I accepted. This kind of aggressive questioning deters potential adopters and keeps animals from finding good homes. I definitely do not recommend coming here.

Although I ended up not being a match for Eli, the initial adoption process through K9 Kismet went smoothly. First, I completed an adoption form and waited for someone to contact me. I received a call from Nici who arranged for a meet and greet in an office in Los Alamitos. We also had a tentative home check arranged. After a meet and greet between Eli with another prospective adoptive family, Nici advised that Eli would probably not be a good fit in my household. I couldn't agree more with her assessment because I have a smaller dog in my home that would probably be prone to getting injured by Eli's sheer playfulness. He is a solid dog with a lot of energy. The other dog in my house is a senior teacup chihuahua. I am so happy that Eli has since found his forever home. His story is one that tugged at my heartstrings and I just had to meet him. Even though it did not work out between us, K9 Kismet is a legit rescue that cares about the wellbeing of the pet and thoroughly vets their applicants.

The adoption process was incredibly smooth, and the staff were kind, welcoming, and extremely helpful every step of the way, making the experience completely stress-free. We couldn't be happier with our two kittens and are so grateful to the Seal Beach Animal Care Center for bringing them into our lives. All of the kittens are friendly, already spayed or neutered, and up to date on most of their vaccinations, which gave us even more peace of mind. You guys were amazing--I highly recommend this shelter to anyone looking to adopt a dog or cat! Just a heads up--many of the negative reviews seem to come from people who are mad they didn't meet the standards. In reality, it's clear that the staff genuinely care about ensuring their animals are placed in safe, loving homes. I really respect the level of dedication they show to the well-being of each animal.

You will probably only experience this treatment if you are a person of color. My second visit here consisted of me and my husband being chastised for having to rehome a cat in the past due to us just simply not having enough space for her. Was accused of rehoming her to my best friend so that she could be an outdoor cat (this is untrue. She was a cat that required a house, not an apartment). I kept having to remind several staff members that rehoming her was the last thing we wanted to do and that it was in her best interest. Not to mention the several staff members who kept constantly asking us the same questions over and over again to see if our story would change. But I digress... the women here need to learn better hospitality and lenience. It truly was always an uncomfortable experience coming here and then having it be an even bigger bummer when a white person comes in to visit with the cats to be treated better than us. Not saying to not come here to adopt! They handle the cats veterinary needs extremely well and are thorough But just beware of snarkiness and condescending behavior
