First off, I despise having to do leave a bad review about someone. I'd much rather spend the time writing a letter about an employee who was kind enough to do what nobody else would do... for example, your cable company or phone company that's been adding odd things to your bill every month and you finally get someone to remove it and stop it, etc. It's a nice feeling to write in and hopefully get someone a promotion, raise etc for their hard work that no one else would do. So, Dr. Kitt. Terrible. For starters, just a crappy attitude all around. I've just learned that he's not very truthful either. Story is, I'd gone to see him and Dr. Fred Norkin (great guy by the way, definitely recommend. Not sure how the two work together but... I digress) back in 2014 for implant. Fred Norkin was genuinely a nice guy though, can't say that enough. Dr. Kitt was okay as well but it seemed as though his heart wasn't in it like Dr. Norkin. IMO. Now, look this up if you don't believe me but dentistry is the goliath of scam artists. They all do it too, they all tell you that you need more than you really need and unfortunately, most fall for it. So I'd gotten the work done in around 2014 and Dr Kitt had told me that the temp. crown was fine, that a lot of his clients keep those on, no big deal to keep it in. (I'm now finding out that a temp is not good to leave in based on some calls to other dentists.) Quoted me an additional $100 when and if I'd decided to put the permanent in. Well, in around 2018, after my father had told me to go back and get the permanent, I'd figured I'd go back to Dr. Kitt and take him up on his offer. Now I get that he had to raise the price, it had been 3 or 4 years since I'd been back but the new price was $1100. Fine. So he takes some measurements, tells me he's going to order the crown and that they'd be in touch when it was ready. The front reception lady tells me it's $900 down on an $1100 bill. I asked if I could do half, so she agreed on $600. Thank God she allowed that. Nice of her. So I called them 2 or 3 times, not many I admit, but got no answer and never received a call back. During that time, I was just starting a business and although I'm now one of the only people in the country who does what I do and have created a nice niche market for myself, when I went back in 2018 I was still struggling to get that business on its feet and was in fact studying for my MCATs for med school myself. Money was still tight. So my thought process was, the money isn't going anywhere, they'll call me when it's ready I guess, whatever. I wasn't that worried about it and figured if it was an emergency, Dr. Kitt would have mentioned that and I'd of course had followed his instructions. Why wouldn't I? I'd just gotten that implant 4 years prior and always took care of my mouth. No reason to ignore a dire situation, had he told me of one. So no calls, I don't follow up with a return call either after a few times, figure I'll get it or they'll call at their convenience, again not an emergency. Skip forward to Feb 2022, during the past couple of years with all the covid nonsense, I couldn't get my teeth work done without masking up. I'm a foot away from their mouths but I have to wear a mask? Stupid. I put off the cleaning until coved ended and I'm sure dentists took a huge hit, as did everyone. Once things were relaxed some, I called to get an appointment for a dental cleaning but these dentists were all the same... come in for x rays, then it was "you need a deep root cleaning, it's $2500, blah blah." No, I didn't and I still don't. I need a cleaning. I see what is going on, they're making up for lost money. So during this time, the only area in my mouth that is troublesome is the implant spot. Nowhere else do I have receding gums or periodontal issues. Now I call Dr. Kitt thinking that the implant is causing recession, and that I'll go back and pay the remaining $500 for the perm crown. I call and get the run around, I'm told multiple stories by the receptionist, that I was supposed to go to Dr. Norkin for some dental work, that the $600 I paid was for a temp crown (which would mean I was walking around with no tooth from 2014 to 2018), this that, all nonsense. Essentially, he's yet another example of someone whose not in it for the love of helping people but for the love of money. I get it, I'm a capitalist too, but a fair one. I back up my work, don't charge if I can't get it done. In fact, my customers write me personal letters thanking me for my honesty, speed and guarantee. This guy? He can give 2 $hits. Hooting and hollering, spoke over me, just overall acted like a rude millennial who didn't get their paid vacation after 3 days of starting a new job. Just all around bad. Now I've got to call the family attorney and deal with this, which I HATE doing!!! At the very least, he could have refunded the $600. He did NOTHING! Claimed I owed him money from 2014. Charged me 4 years later? Laughable. read more
