So I've been scared of the dentist for as long as I can remember so I've avoided going to the dentist for as long as I can remember! My kids go and they're fine! This place takes such good care of them and they're patient with them. Me? It took 4 years to get back in the chair! All the dental hygienist that my kids have had have all been wonderful but the one who took care of me was aggressive and rough and hurt. Also she came off as uncaring and rude. I'm a big baby so in no way did she try to comfort me until they were tears coming out of my eyes that I had to ask for numbing for the deep cleaning she was rushing through. I had a filling that popped out and the Dr did it perfectly! Didn't hurt and I felt safe. No crying that time! Just maybe some happy tears because now I can get braces! read more

WARNING: "DENTIST MELANIE SCARFONE IS THE WORST DENTIST IN THE PALM BEACH AREA". Anyone considering going to Sage Dental, please do not go. My mom went to Sage Dental office located in East Boca to get partial dentures. After many years using the same model, she decided to change the material, which was called Valplast. Once the process began, as the weeks went by, the work dragged on for more than 5 months, when a partial denture normally takes between 2 and 3 weeks to make. The delays started with the dentist's personal vacations, the waiting time for the dentures, the lack of communication regarding the partial measurements, etc. When they finally delivered the dentures, they didn't fit properly because there was a problem with the measurements, and they were sent back to the lab for adjustments. AFTER THE SECOND DELIVERY my mother informed DR. MELANIE SCARFONE THAT SHE WAS IN PAIN EVERY TIME SHE USES THE PARTIAL DENTURE, THEY WERE TOO TIGHT AND SHE WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THEM. DR. MELANIE SCARFONE suggested soaking the partials in warm water to loosen them and coming back for adjustments. With each adjustment, DR. MELANIE SCARFONE pushed the partials down between her gums, causing scratches and a light bleeding in her gums which obviously increased more discomfort and pain. When my mom left the office, she couldn't even eat because her mouth was so sore. After so much back and forth, I told DR. MELANIE SCARFONE that my mother wasn't satisfied with the work, and she acknowledged it. She told my mother that she didn't think she could meet her expectations for the partials and therefore was going to give her a refund. Both parties agreed, and I said, "That sounds good, but in order to do that, I need the management at Sage Dental to give me a letter of guarantee specifying that my mother will return the partials as long as SAGE DENTAL refund the money back to my insurance signed and stamped by your management team. The answer was NO and my request DENIED. I told them every time that my mom has no problem returning the partials as long as the insurance receives its refund formally. They told me to contact the PATIENT QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT, and after all these months I had only spoken with Lory/Laurie twice, who is THE COMPLAINTS DPT DIRECTOR MANAGEMENT at Sage Dental offices. It must be emphasized that she is extremely UNPROFESSIONAL in every sense of the word. The two times I have spoken with her; she has not been able to offer a favorable option or solution for my mother to get her partials. The times I had called the Patient Quality Control Department number, no one answers, how is that possible? The last conversation I had with Lory/Laurie, she told me that one of her supervisors from their offices was going to call me to reach a solution/agreement regarding this situation, and NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME. MY MOM WANTS HER REFUND BACK.SHE HAS NOW A MISSING TEETH FOR MONTHS AND DENTIST SCARFONE MELANIE IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT, THE MAIN REASON FOR THAT IS BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HER PATIENTS SELF-ESTEEM SHE ONLY CARES ABOUT MONEY. / read more

They kept pressuring me to try to get me a Deep Cleaning which is not a normal procedure and I explained I had a Deep Cleaning 2-3 years ago and it costs about $800 copay with good dental insurance. My father is a dentist and looked at the X-rays and explained that I needed one for buildup under the gum lines and this was several years ago, he also explained they are only necessary under certain circumstances and originally I fit that, again 2-3 years ago. I was 52 at the time and never needed one while my dad practicing until I was 45, this is NOT normally needed at all. Anyways I explained to them I'd do a regular cleaning and had to argue with them to get that. I go in and the hygienist says I was scheduled for a deep cleaning. I am writing this while being cognizant that I don't think anyone really enjoys having their gums poked and prodded with sharp metal tools. I arrived painfully early but decided it was fine because I had plenty of work to grade. As I sat waiting for a half hour before my scheduled appointment time at 4:00 nobody asked me to do anything. I was asked to fill out paperwork only after sitting for about 25 minutes, and at this point I was about to be called in. I was still only halfway done when my name was called. I rushed to finish. Clearly, I could have and should have been asked earlier. Once I was done, I stood at the window with the clipboard, holding it out, but a couple of girls just chatted. Finally, they took it. Then I got inside. X-rays were quick. My cleaning was thorough. She was actually a bit rough, but she was really making sure to get my teeth clean. The dentist then came to look at my x-rays. He was friendly. Then I paid and the receptionist was friendly as well. The dental work was well done as the staff affable. Maybe they need to work on timing, that's all. read more

I found the best dentist in Boca quite by accident. When I woke up with tooth pain I went to the internet to find a local dentist. I liked the reviews of Boca Dental Group so I called. They fit me in the same day. Dr. Etman told me I needed root canal and a new cap. I agreed and the first opening was 3 days later. The following morning they called me and offered me to come in immediately because they had a cancellation. I drove over right away. Stephanie, the dental assistant, put my mind at ease about what was about to be done. She truly cares about her patients. Dr. Etman came in and started the root canal. He had a great manner, and I felt no pain during the whole procedure. Within 3 hours of my arrival, I left with a root canal and a new cap all in one office! Dr. Etman called me that night to make sure I was OK and the office e mailed me in the morning also. It was truly miraculous that I had no pain during or after the procedure. Gentle, talented, kind, and trustworthy. This practice has all of these virtues. I have been conned by dentists in the past and it is so nice that I can trust the dentist and his dentistry. I am a mom of two elementary-aged kids and take care of everyone before taking care of myself. DO NOT postpone getting your dental health on track as I did! I had a tooth with a huge, gnarly-looking metal filling that I thought was rotting in my head. I was embarrassed and put off going to the dentist to deal with it. Another unscrupulous dentist (in CA) told me that the tooth would have to be pulled and I would need an expensive implant or bridge. Lucky for me, covid happened and I put it off until I met this dentist. I told the assistant/tech Priscilla that I felt bad, and she assured me I should not be ashamed. Dr. Etman was not only able to save the tooth but make my crown the same day. The rates are reasonable. The office ppl (John and Barbara) are pleasant and helpful in dealing with insurance. So glad to find this dentistry and will be back soon to address many other issues I have. My teeth are terrible. Dr. Etman even wrote me a prescription for a higher fluoride toothpaste in the hope that it could help. read more

I recently saw Dr. Brian Gross for the first time as he was referred to me by my brother-in-law. During his exam after my very thorough cleaning, Dr. Gross discovered that I had a cracked tooth with significant bone loss and decay under my crown and recommended an extraction. Although I wasn't happy about the news, I am 59 and have had dental issues my whole life. Today he performed the extraction, and I was shocked how painless the whole procedure was. Even though the extraction was more complicated than normal, due to a curved root, Dr. Gross did a fantastic job and painlessly extracted my molar. More impressive was the fact that I had very little bleeding and next to no pain after the novocaine wore off. I could not be more pleased with Dr. Gross and his staff. 5 Star AAA!! I have been seeing Dr Gross at this location for over 10 years at least. He is the best Dentist and I had a few over the years. I have lived in south florida 43 years and my sister recommended him.Shes the best because he is the best, always very concerned , attentive and does excellent dental work. I recently last July had a failed root canal not done at his office just the tooth weakness and instead of crowning it he told me the truth about my situation and did not crown and it save me many bucks so honest. He does excellent evaluations and has the best personality I feel like hes a friend. Barbara manager front desk is the best always helpful patient and so KIND. and then theres Jackie my hygienist she is the so diligent and thorough and always ready to go over each detail of my dental care. I brought my 6 year old daughter here for her first cavity filling which I was expecting this to be a nightmare (my daughter is very scared of doctors & unbelievable strong at fighting them off). I've witnessed a doctor and 3 nurses wrestle her down for something as simple as ear drops!! We had a 2pm appointment and she was back in the chair by 2:03pm. Good start! Dentist let me go back with her for moral support (I knew I would probably be there to hold her down), Another plus. They joked and explained things to her that made her giggle and really calmed her down. She did cry when they put the shot in her gums to numb the tooth, but for maybe 30seconds. I watched the whole procedure, they were quick, efficient & made her completely relaxed. We left the dentist at 2:27pm. I did a double check on the time, it was that fast. Barbara will greet you when you first arrive and will be the last person you see as you leave, she is so friendly and helpful and even though she is very busy she always has a moment to answer questions and explain things thoroughly. Dr. Gross is very friendly and always take time to find out his patients needs and what might be causing tooth pain without pushing unnecessary treatment on you, I appreciate that so much, he makes sure your teeth and gums are healthy and offers honest opinions on what should be done. Giving this dental group a 1 is very generous at this point. Now I've been before once and saw a dentist quickly. He was very nice and replaced a filling through an emergency appointment. Three years later I call to schedule an appointment. To my dismay the "manager" receptionist was rude from the get go. I explained that I thought I had been there before as a patient. I was called out for only being a one time patient back in 2014 (Who cares? I still need a dentist). She asked if I had an HMO or PPO. I said I'm not sure, where would I find that on my card. She replies with you need to call your provider and find out yourself. Gee thanks! I said it looks like PPO on my card. She said i need to put you on hold because I have another customer in front of me please hold. I said look i'm not really feeling your attitude i'll look for another dentist. She said I need you to hold i'll be back and didn't wait for me to say anything. Less than 30 seconds later she returns. She says what is the reason for your visit? I say I broke a tooth and need it pulled. She says no, we're not going to do that. First we need to examine it and see if we can do anything for you. If not we will refer you to an oral surgeon (Seriously, you're arguing with me? You asked why I wanted to see a dentist, I answered). I said I get it, but i don't like the way you're speaking to me. She tells me it's really busy right now and it's swamped. I explained that we all have jobs and frankly being busy isn't an excuse for poor service. If she as the first point of contact are rude, it doesn't reflect very well on the dental groups part. I asked to speak to someone else and she said no. She is the only person available (I should have asked if she was the owner). At that point i said i'm not interested in coming here and she said i will book you an appointment. THANKS, BUT NO THANKS.
