Adorable play space for kids located in the Brewerytown section of Philly. I was there with family to celebrate my granddaughter's first birthday. The staff there was very friendly and interactive during the entire 3 hour event. Parking can be challenging since they don't have a dedicated lot. There should be street parking available------ be prepared to walk. When you arrive, you need to remove your shoes and put them into the small cubbie spaces. The downstairs area is where the kids can play with different toys and play equipment such as mini-trampoline etc. Bathrooms are downstairs and very clean. A child gate keeps kids from wandering away from the play area. Upstairs is where the food was set up. There are tables for gathering to eat as well as another area for the kids to dine. This space is really lovely, I wish I lived in the city to come more often. I came once with my toddler for a playdate with a family that comes often. It was challenging to do much together because developmentally the kids were in different places and my little one was overwhelmed by all the kids and options at once. There seemed to be a lot of folks there when we went during the summer, I think there was even a summer program happening in a separate room because the entrance was so crowded and there seemed to be designated bins or cubbies for those kids. I'd say it was closer to noon when many families had left for I'm guessing nap time that my little one finally warmed up to the space and felt more comfortable exploring. There's a lot of options for infants who might only be crawling to new walkers like mine and beyond. If you are considering a toy for your child that is a bit of an investment, coming here to see how they do with it would be a good test! For instance, we are not into dress up or boats yet. The second floor has a nice area for snacking along with some other toys and even a swing. I wish I had thought to pack myself lunch like I saw another family do! The bathroom is really clean and I appreciated that they also had a little library along with diapers and formula at the entrance. Not bad for paying an entrance fee for just my child. read more

There is a welcome desk, an admission fee at the entrance and cubby spaces for your extra belongings. We didn't bring a stroller, but there appears to be some accommodations to store it. My 2 year old grandson Charlie and I very much enjoyed this space together and it's many offerings. He liked the pretend kitchen and table setting, building blocks, exploring the various toys and puzzles. It's clean and safe. A thought of it as a elegantly scaled down alternative to the please touch museum. There is an abundance of floor space. As a grandparent you may find yourself on the floor too, and I felt there was much we could do to learn and play. There is a climbing area that we didn't do but we would on another visit. The upstairs offers a self serve selection of snacks (juice box, crackers, pretzels etc water or (yeah a coffee for me)) for both of us, at a reasonable cost. I'm impressed with the quality of activities in this lively, pretty space, you know it had to be curated by smart women or parents of children and to find this as a neighborhood early childhood play and development center. We came here for a birthday party on a Saturday afternoon. There is only street parking which wasn't too difficult to find. The staff was really friendly and accommodating which made the experience better. The place itself has many toys and things for the kids to stay busy from kitchen play to a slide. My son loved the air cannonball that pieces of cloth will fly out of. It's very clean and spacious! Great place to have a party at! read more

We held our daughter's 2nd birthday party here, and could not have asked for a better experience. The space is open, bright, airy, safe, and clean. The staff is gregarious, warm, and helpful! The play areas are incredibly well thought out, aesthetically pleasing, and creative! The mezzanine level was decorated to perfection for the kids to eat and the adults to socialize. We added pizza and Mr. John's Music and it was amazing all around. Can not recommend this space enough and will surely return. read more

We had my son's 2nd birthday party there yesterday. We were supposed to go there last year, but with the pandemic, we postponed until this year. The space is STUNNING, the staff are SO lovely, communicate quickly and easily, and they were super safe and clean. We had a handful of adults (all masked and vaccinated) and little kids (all masked over 2), and we had the space to ourselves. The staff put up some lovely and beautiful decorations in the room where we ate, but the whole space is so beautiful, you barely need it. We absolutely loved it, had a GREAT time, and can't wait to go back just to play. read more

Update* I had a great conversation with the other owner, Eden. We spoke at length about a number of things. I heard the passion in her voice about the community and the desire to be mindful of how feelings can be perceived and project negatively onto her customer base. She spoke about the desire to have a safe space for people of color to get information and services and impressively knew a lot of the gross disparities in communities like the one they are in. Thank you Eden for having an open and honest conversation with me, not minimizing my feelings and being receptive to my feedback. Rarely do I feel compelled to write a less than positive review for a business, however, my overall experience has led me to this forum to share my sentiments that would have helped me decide that Kith & Kin was not the venue for me to host my daughter's 1st birthday party.I will preface this by saying that our party was large. We had about 60 - 65 adults and 20 children. The contract was for 50 adults and 25 children. Needless to say, we went a little over, as folks that did not RSVP showed up to celebrate.There were no issues presented during or following the party outside of our guests taking longer than we expected to leave while we were cleaning up. Despite this, during the party Jess looked irritated and afraid; feelings and vibes that a host and business owner should not exude during a party. My initial feeling told me that Jess was uncomfortable to be around so many black people, as there were no actions by guests that would warrant such feelings. Sure, she has black staff members who were an absolute pleasure to work with, but when she built her play space in the middle of North Philadelphia, I wonder if she didn't truly expect the residents of this North Philadelphia community to partake in her space.Putting my initial feelings aside, I called Jess after the party to discuss some concerns and offer my feedback. I complimented her on her space and told her that her discomfort showed. She mentioned capacity being the issue. I suggested that it might have been beneficial to discuss the magnitude of this limit prior to arrival, if it had truly been an issue. I expressed that it may be helpful to be more mindful of her guests and even told her that I want her business to be successful when I wrapped up the conversation.During that call, Jess made it a point to inform me that she "had her husband on call", "I just wanted it to be over", "I felt your party was stressful from the beginning", "guests arriving 30 minutes early felt disrespectful". I blatantly asked her, what she thought would happen that would warrant these feelings and her response... Capacity... yet again.  After careful use of words and a little coaching, Jess apologized for letting her feelings transpire to me and put me on edge during the last hour of our party. Our conversation ended, with an offer from Jess for a free month-long membership.Today, nearly 2 weeks later I noticed that our S'more station, which my father built specifically for my daughter's party, and which we intended to donate to her childcare center, was not in the car of the family member who was asked to bring it home. When I called to see if maybe we had left it behind while we were cleaning up and packing our cars, I learned that JESS and LEAH THREW IT AWAY! I spoke to her just 2 days after the event and she mentioned nothing about the item or about us leaving anything there. She was aware that it was an item that we left and did not mention it during our conversation or follow up to see if we had intended to leave it (we didn't). Now that... is DISRESPECT.  What infuriates me the most about this situation is that I apologized for the party getting large. I paid her in advance, tipped her and her staff, and worked with my guests to ensure we cleaned up and put everything we could in the trash. I offered to pay her for the extra time for a small number of guests arriving early, as she stated and it feels like she did not feel the need to give me the same respect. read more

What a great addition to the neighborhood-had a lovely experience yesterday with my two younger kids (almost 4 years and 11 months) and there were plenty of activities and toys and both. A few other amazing perks- The Nesting House has a space (no more trekking to South Philly!!), they're open Sundays, there are tons of classes and events for parents throughout the week, and they do birthday parties. read more

We absolutely love Kith + Kin and are so excited to have it in the neighborhood! The space is gorgeous, immaculate, and full of fun things that entertain my 1 and 4-year-old for hours. Jess and Eden are lovely hosts. Great snacks and coffee upstairs as well as Nesting House with great options if you're looking for a special gift or inexpensive consignment clothing. We also highly recommend the space for birthday parties - we just had our daughter's first birthday at Kith + Kin and it was a great experience. This place is incredible! So many fun experiences for small kids. I have a 1 year old boy, and he LOVES this place! We have a membership, and we come multiple times a week. When we first started coming he was showing no desire to walk. Being around other kids, and so many fun toys motivated him to get walking! ;) So many great age appropriate toys! The cafe has great kid and parent snacks! The classes here are fabulous! And the best part? My kiddo is so tired that he takes a whopping nap the minute we get home! This place is fantastic! Absolutely the nicest baby/toddler indoor play space that I know of. It's big, it's bright, and the toys are amazing- beautiful, colorful, interesting, and high quality. Toys and activities that are great for the imagination. Delicious snacks, drinks, coffee and even sandwiches available for purchase upstairs in the beautiful loft area (I appreciate the thought that they have put into making a nice experience for adult caregivers/parents in addition to the kids). The giant windows are so wonderful, it makes the whole atmosphere so bright and open, unlike some other play spaces we've visited. Since they just opened everything is brand new and in wonderful condition, it's a joy to play with my daughter there. Sanitizing wipes are placed all over for cleaning toys and whatnot. And the bathrooms! Are! Amazing! Floor to ceiling doors like in Europe for each stall. One stall literally has mommy and me potties side by side which is awesome for potty training. An actual miniature, working toilet, my daughter thinks it's hilarious. Oh and they have an indoor sliding board as well, attached to like a little elevated clubhouse. They say kids/babies learn through play and it's so fun to watch my daughter figuring out all the toys and interacting with the other kids. I feel really blessed to have a space like this in my neighborhood! However if I didn't even live nearby I would make the trip to come here because there is nothing else quite like it that I know of. Imagine any play space you have been to, and then imagine the play space you WISH you could go to. This one is the latter of the two. read more

I live near a few different play spaces and was excited to check this out earlier this summer. I have become such a super fan. I am actually having my son's first birthday there. I love going in and seeing the owners who are so friendly and just just telling my son to go play. He lights up there. The toys there allow him to really use his imagination, to create, and explore. I know we will be going there for many years to come. I have been to the other places in the area, and TRUST ME, they don't come close. I am so happy to have Kith + Kin in Philly and I wish them nothing but the best. read more

We came to this adorable play place a few weeks ago for a birthday party and I found the owner to be very passive aggressive. As the party was approaching the end, about 15-20 minutes before the end, she began to vigorously cleaning up. My oldest son was still enjoying some blocks and she asked him to put them away. For anybody that has a 6 year old would know they can slowly take their time to put things away. She then turns to me clearly frustrated and says he needs to put that away now. My son then got upset as if he did something wrong and apologized in the car saying he wishes he could have moved a bit quicker. If you're going to open a play place geared towards small children patience is definitely needed. And they definitely should never leave feeling badly or as if they have to apologize for anything. Before this unpleasant exchange, she did not interact with any of the children or party guest. She looked annoyed and as if she'd rather be anywhere but there at that moment. Not great energy for a child's party. When I first walked in I planned to get information to host my 3 year olds party at Kith and Kin but have clearly changed my mind. I will never support this business or attend a birthday party here. read more
