We had a great experience with the Kitchen Doctor two years ago when they upgraded our kitchen with improved cabinets, counters, drawers and flooring plus a new stove top and grill with lots of custom touches. We were ready to upgrade our appliances*dishwasher, microwave, oven, and fridge) this year so called them again. We also wanted a utility sink and corner in our garage and fitted storage and shelves. The owner came out and gave us a vague quote on the appliances and asked for a down payment so he could order the appliances. He also started a plan for the garage. The deposit came out of our account immediately and seemed high so I checked on-line prices at John Lewis--the Kitchen Doctor was charging 25% more plus a 10% installation fee. When I questioned the pricing I got vague responses and finally the owner said he had to make a profit and couldn't compete with "those big box" on-line sellers. I was willing to pay a premium for good service but this pricing and vagueness as to what was really being charged made me uncomfortable and I cancelled both projects. We were ready to spend serious money but the lack of clarity or transparency in pricing did not inspire trust. I suggest anyone asking for a quote from the Kitchen Doctor be sure they get details early and understand what premium you are paying. read more
