Fresh and flavor packed, Kitanda makes the best Açai bowls I've had in Seattle. The Açai base is so smooth and tastes just like Açai berry. The fruit is so fresh and cut into the perfect bite size pieces. I also loved the addition of condensed milk on top. I wish there were add on topping though. The wait for this bowl was around 15 minutes but the cafe worker let me know it would take this long so it was ok. I also think this is a great cafe to sit and do work because the lighting is nice. I'm so excited to go back and try their Brazilian cheese bread. The Açai bowls were also pretty big portions and the container was sturdy to travel with. I used to come a lot during college, but have since stopped, and decided to give it another shot. Got the energy blast açaí bowl and it was pretty good. I definitely think it's best when frozen, but mine was quite melted even though I just got given my order. I enjoyed the granola the most since the fruit didn't seem the best. I'd say this original size is quite a lot and is good for sharing. I got a coffee and an Acai bowl. The Acai bowl was yummy, with fresh fruit and granola on the one I got. The coffee was strong and had a good flavor. This place is on the first floor of what I think is an apartment complex so it's a little tucked away and parking in the area may be hard to find. I walked here while getting my car serviced nearby. I've been to these guys plenty of times before. Their Kitand bread sandwiches are delicious. Whether you want something sweet or savory, they have a good variety. I went for the Lean Pastrami Kitanda. What I first like about the sandwich is that it is nice and small and not overall stuffed with ingredients. You are able to taste the pastrami, the spinach and the mozzarella on every bite. As for the texture of the bread itself is slightly crunchy at first bite, but once you keep chewing away the texture becomes more soft and chewing. It does not have a big amount of salty taste, but none the less, it is an overall yummy and delicious experience. This is a smaller location in the WSECU building. My usual's are the chicken croquettes, the bread, and jasmine tea. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I can't comment about that, but the jasmine tea is so strong and delicious. If you like sweet stuff then you will like their smoothies. I had one and it was way too much sugar for me. I will say the same for their acai bowls. If they would lay off the sugar on those things then I would eat them. This is a quiet place that never gets too crowded or loud the way a Starbucks would. There are tables available for sitting and there are always lots of students there hanging out and studying. There are also Brazilian products available for sale. What I love is that you can also buy the bread and chicken cones frozen and take them home. The location is only convenient if you are on foot. I'm pretty particular about my acai bowl because I have a favorite spot in Kirkland and I always compare other places to that place. Hearing about kitanda many times and actually trying their yummy cheesy bread before, I decided to try their acai bowl. I just got the traditional bowl which comes with bananas and granola. They are all pretty standard tasting, nothing mind blowing. I like that you can leave them in freezer for a few hours and it taste delicious. I usually just get the Traditional bowl, but I switched it up and got the Louco bowl (nuts and peanut butter galore). I think the best bowls are more "fruity" that "nutty", but just my preference! They use Sambazon Acai puree packs which is my favorite to use at home (can be found in shop as well). A must try is the "cheesy bread" which come in small and regular sizes. Went to this Kitanda location to study while waiting for my car to be serviced nearby. It's adjacent and shares the same space as a BECU, so their wifi is BECUs. I ordered a latte and the cheese breads and they were both delicious. The service was also fast. I did overhear the worker saying her co-worker was a no show/cancelled so she was super busy. She seemed stressed and complained that no one tipped her that morning. That's when I realize they don't allow tips on the screen and only cash tips. Hopefully they change that soon because hardly anyone carries cash or small bills these days. I did come here to study, so I was a little disappointed by the lack of outlets. I only saw one in the corner next to the window and "bar" type seating. Wish they had more. Bathrooms were clean and code locked. I've been here twice for breakfast, specifically for the acai bowl. Bowls and coffe drinks are tasty but prices are crazy high.

I came to Kitanda because they're open early in the morning, and they have Acai bowls! It was hard to figure out how to get in, as they share an entrance with the WSECU and we just stared through the window looking at the waitress, like many others. I came pretty early in the morning at 8am, and there were very few people until around 9am, when more people started filtering in. Right off the bat, the seating area, albeit a bit small, is pleasant to sit in. Next to their menu items, they have options to buy their Acai or other products in bulk, which was interesting to see. Festa (6/10). The Acai bowl that I picked was a bit difficult to eat in the beginning, as everything's jammed very tightly into a tight container that made it very difficult to mix. In the end of the bowl, I ended up with mostly Acai and very little topping, since it was simply so thick that I couldn't mix it. As expected from the ending, the beginning was less optimally mixed as well, and I ended up eating basically a spoonful of toppings. There isn't much that's new with this bowl either, I just wish it was a bit easier to eat as it is conveniently located and the portions are a good size. Acai Smoothie (8/10). I would say that this is exactly what I was looking for in a smoothie -- easily drinkable without brain freeze. It's definitely a lot smoother than the bowl, and easy to drink. At that point, it was basically a Jamba Juice. Again, nothing really innovative or striking, just an overall solid drink. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese (8/10). When we received this item, I was a bit miffed by how ordinary it looked, and was glad I got the bowl. But, upon biting into the gluten-free tapioca bread, that's what hit me -- the bread is a mochi consistency due to the tapioca starch, which seems to be their selling factor. Perhaps the inside of the sandwich wasn't impressive and the appearance not much either, but the CHEESE pull was simply so satisfying that even my lactose intolerance couldn't resist. Definitely would get this item again. EDIT: I came here again, and got two other items that interested me. Romeo and Juliet (6/10). I gotta say the guava jam is kind of odd that it's in slices, so it feels like eating fruit leather in warm bread. The sweetness didn't really match the profile of the cheese / bread savory, and overpowered the cheese so just felt like eating jam bread. Nutella Bread (6/10). I didn't think that there was much to say about this nor did I expect much, but the Nutella wasn't satisfying to bite into. I thought would have been piped into the bread, but it was more of a smear with one bite making the other side spill out. It did satisfy the chocolate craving, but there's definitely room for improvement. Brazilian Cream Cheese (8/10). What can you do better in a bread, besides oozing cheese? The fact that the bacon-egg-cheese bread already had oozing cheese had me convinced that their pure cheese bread would be great, and I was right. Definitely a bread I'd come back to. In general, I feel like the tapioca bread's flavor profile matches a lot better with savory food than sweets. I love that they're one of the few shops open early during the weekday. Their Brazilian Pão de queijo rolls are the best ones I've had. If you've never had them, it's like bread and mochi textured biscuit that's cheesy tasting?? That sounds horrible but it's so good. I've only ordered the Energy Blast but it has everything I need that I've never explored other bowls. Their Brazilian coffee is great as well but if you're not a fan of "bitter" coffee, don't add more espresso shots than what's already there. Lastly, I recommend adding extra ice if you're getting this for working because the coffee is more dense and the ice melts extra fast and the drink doesn't taste very good afterwards. read more

Walked past the brand new wsecu building a million times and finally found an afternoon to come by and try kitanda. Kitanda, I believe is a Brazilian inspired coffee shop selling favorites like acai. There are few other kitanda locations but this was the first one I've been to. The kitanda in the wsecu building is low key, quaint and fits well in the new buildings aesthetic. We had the traditional acai bowl which was delicious. I have had acai many times and would say this is pretty yummy. We also had the original bread bites, a cream puff looking ball but with cheese. It was really good. We topped it off with a Brazilian latte, which is condensed milk in a latte. Very interesting to see thst combination as it is not very common among western countries. I've never actually dined in or visited this location in person, but I've ordered delivery from them several times -- They are one of my go-to's when I need something delicious and healthy to eat, especially after a great workout! My favorite is their Energy Blast Acai Bowl, which is made of 10 oz. of organic Açaí, topped with a heaping serving of delicious peanut butter, banana slices, strawberries, Brazil nuts, honey and vegan-friendly granola that is both gluten-free and nut-free! Working next door to this place is incredibly dangerous! My coworkers and I frequent this place almost every single morning. If you've never tried a Brazilian latte, go try one now! I'm not a big coffee drinker but this is delicious because they add a touch of condensed milk. They have an eclectic menu of drinks and snacks. You can't go wrong with really anything. They have a lot of milk alternatives: oat milk, coconut milk, almond milk. Snackwise, their açaí bowls are spendy but large and filling. My favorite snacks are the cheese bread sandwich with bacon (a breakfast sandwich on a whole other level) and the coxinha (chicken cone). They have a pretty good pairing deal: a Brazilian latte and a cheese bread sandwich. Small seating area and parking can be challenging unless you're a WSECU member who can park in their garage.
