I honestly don't know why I hate your show so much or why the sound of your voice causes a psychotic tingle up the back of my neck that's ominous of random acts of violence against inanimate objects... but I do and it does. The 1/2 minute of pure death I just experienced of your show as I was pulling into work demanded that I write this. You were arguing, and obviously pouty and petulant, with someone I believe to be a Nashville resident - that poor, helpless city about to be exposed to the worlds most unfunny, pretend celeb DJ - and he had clearly said something negative about your impending arrival there. So, one of my ex-co-worker's happened to love The Bobby Bones show. She would listen to it as she drove into work in the morning and then at lunch she would read and watch show re-caps to capture what she missed. I love my ex-co-worker but I respectfully disagree with her opinion of The Bobby Bones show. 1. Try being two dimensional once in a while. I know you are selling to the MTV crowd, but even MTV has a news show. (It talks about more than Britney's lips, guys!) 2. Get rid of Lunchbox. This guy grates and not in the way that makes you want to love to hate him - just in the way that makes you turn off the radio. 3. LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME! There is nothing original about this show. This Bobby Bones character uses Howard Stern bits (the gossip game and win bobby's money) to entertain his listeners. What really irks me is that he takes credit for other people's ideas. Not only that but he acts like he's some sort of Austin celebrity. He's a nobody. Amy, his close minded female sidekick, offers absolutely nothing to the show other than utter frustration. She can't even get the gossip news right. LAME. "Lunchbox" is THE douche of the show. So, during the course of SXSW I was surprised to learn of an undercover Ludacris concert. Given that he is one of mine and my out of town friend's favorite rappers we were understandably excited. The flyer said that they didn't need RSVPS or wristbands so we decided to check it out. After scoping out 102.3 The Beat ATX (if I could review them, they'd get 1 star as well) on Facebook I should have known that things were fishy. First off their page contradicted itself by first stating that doors opened at 10:30 and then later stating 11 (without addressing the previous 10:30). We decided just to get down there as quickly as possible. We arrived at 10:15AM so we were early regardless. We were let in around 11AM and the first artists (The 1975) performed rather promptly.... and it all went miserably downhill from there. Both stations had advertised Ludacris, Foster the People, and Iggy Azalea as their headliners. I don't know about you but when I hear headliner that means PERFORMER. Regardless there were longer and longer gaps between each new performer and then they had a few surprise guests. One of these guests was Kesington Kross (who wasn't horrible) and Ty Dolla Sign. Okay disclaimer time. Somehow some people had VIP badges which despite my extensive research I could not obtain. Said VIPs (and apparently every single Clear Channel Radio Employee in Austin.... AND their kids) were allowed to "meet and greet" and take photos with the artists. I've never heard of Ty Dolla Sign and apparently most of the crowd had not either. Consequently no one lined up for a picture with him. I was dragged out of the crowd (as a cute female- shameless self plug) and pushed into the room to take a picture with him. Pros: He spelled my name right, Cons: I ABSOLUTELY despise being touched by random people and being forced to pose next to a person for the sake of making the event seem more lucrative. After 4 hours, I thought we had hit rock bottom but I was wrong. At this point it had been established that the performers didn't even care about this event enough to show up on time. Iggy Azalea was apparently running late and the hosts were making attempts at humorous apologies which would have been fine had they been setting up her equipment for her performance. Once she finally stumbled and tripped her way onto the stage, I was forced to bear to witness to one of the most painfully obsequious and fawning interviews I have ever heard in my life. I'm not one to rip on artists but if you don't have ANY #1 hits, you have no right to say the things that Iggy said on stage. Then, to the disappointment of the rest of the crowd, she didn't ever perform. In my book that wasn't really a loss BUT it set the tone for what was still to come. Immediately afterwards the setup crew placed four chairs and four mics on the stage. I predicted the next artist would be Foster the People but I was extremely confused and concerned about the lack of instruments. Unsurprisingly enough they too did not perform and instead shamelessly plugged their upcoming album. The moment of truth had come, Ludacris had arrived. Once again a microphone was set up. Now, I wasn't that concerned yet because we had seen plenty of rappers perform with only a microphone stand. However to my bitter disappoint this became yet another shameless plug. To add insult to injury the DJ played Ludacris' new single and he just sat there.... not rapping. At this point I was livid; I had been deceived into wasting FIVE HOURS of my time. All I can say is that there's a difference between false advertising and just an outright scam. This my friends is clearly a case of the latter. Total fail and letdown KISS 96.7 and 102.3 The Beat ATX. At least now I know why your yelp ratings suck. read more

Upon first hearing the name I thought, "Killer! Finally a station that plays Kiss 24 hours a day! I can rock n roll all night and party everyday!" .I was quite disappointed to find out that this was just another prescription corporate radio station bringing you some of the worst pop music has to offer. I was hoping to hear "Room Service" or "Detroit Rock City", but instead got punished with Nickelback and Fergie. Yuck. It's kind of embarrassing, but I have a good reason for why I like this station. A few years ago, I started temping in a room full of cubicles, where all the girls around me listened to the Bobby Bones show in the mornings on KISS. It made such a cacophony to listen to anything else that, when I brought my own portable radio, I tuned in to Bobby Bones too. I didn't even know pop music then. Three years later, I just heart Bobby Bones. He's so modest and funny. He's built a good show around him and I still listen on my morning commute. They include bits like "Know your Daves," where you have to list the last name of various Daves, like Letterman, Matthews, etc. They also have helium karaoke contests. That kind of zany stuff but without the weird radio announcer voices. KISS Austin is an affiliate of the national KISS clear channel conglomerate, sadly, headquartered by Ryan Seacrest's station in LA. read more

Bobby Bones! That is all I have to say. Four stars because of The Bobby Bones Morning Show. They can't get the fifth one because of the music. I like some of it, just not all of it. If you are a fan of pop music then this is like the only station to listen to for you. Most of the DJs are pretty good, Cruz (at night) probably comes in second. If you aren't a fan of pop, but like a good morning show, BOBBY BONES! They only play a little bit of music during the show. Overall a decent radio station. P.S. I just moved out of state and man, I miss my morning show. For the past three or four years, I listened to the Bobby Bones Show every morning on my way to school and, later, work. I stayed in the car an extra few minutes during particularly good segments and turned on the radio as soon as I got into my office. I'd fight with my officemate over whose morning show we'd listen to (my last coworker brought his own radio and we listened to our individual shows, which was annoying, but we both got our way.) For the longest time, I absolutely hated Lunchbox. How could someone I did not know be so irritating? Amy, on the other hand, was just too cute. Amy had a tendency to say whatever I was thinking. If both of them were being irrational, Bobby had something good to say. Sometimes fights would just have to end in disagreement. I like a radio show that's real--no cheesy voices or staged conversations. The Bobby Bones Show has the kind of segments that end in someone breaking the law (although they've calmed down a bit.) They have listeners furiously calling in to make their opinion heard and tell people on the show or other callers what's what. They talk about their lives, play games (often badly, but it's usually funnier than it is annoying) and listen to the listeners--suggestions, complaints, requests for advice or help finding a lost pet. Even if the show didn't win awards for being popular or having a large fan base, I still would have listened every day. Now that I don't live in Austin, my mornings seem to be lacking. So I learned that all Kiss FMs are truely generic. If your dial can get 96.1 in San Antonio just go ahead and switch between them and you will find the exact same playlist/DJ on the weekends. Bobby Bones Show-I hate to listen to them but I do anyway. I think Bobby has a ginormous chip on his shoulder and don't like the way he seems to think he knows everything about everything. We get it. You have daddy issues-join the club. The rest of the group don't bother me so much-even Lunchbox b/c he makes no apologies for being a jackass. I have personally worked with morning shows in Denver and beyond, even with a show that had their share of controversy (ie. fake stunt about a kitten floating away in a mass of balloons). Seriously how long have you people that gave this show only 1 star? The best part of this show is that all 3 of the radio hosts have different personality Not one lame man show or all homogeneous. Bobby for one is not a homophobe, he is fine with them and doesn't like people tagging him as a gay person because he's not. He is nice and caring if you actually dig through more of his stuff. A deep type of guy. Amy is also caring and emotional type of person. She likes to discuss about how she "feels" about the topic or what is being discussed. Lunchbox on the other hand is a pure "red-neck" and totally unintellectual but he is what makes it funny since he represents most of the modern men. Everyone even the interns are funny. They bring in different celebrities and do interviews with them. They bring smiles to my face every time I leave in the morning around 5am to go to campus. Sometimes it's stupid but it's nice to hear different opinions from all three of them. Their games are actually great too! You could play along with "Guess that Tune," and other random games that listeners could call in to join. Not to mention they cover more range of music. You could even suggests for whatever song to be on there as long as it receives a high vote. YOU are the input for most of the show. Their site allows you to send instant feed back during the show. You could even check their MySpace and Xanga. They are totally interactive whether it be phone calls or the internet. Trust me, just listen to their podcasts or blogs, you'll see the true part of them rather than these people who knocked on it before they even listen for a longer duration as most of us had. read more

Disclaimer: I love morning shows. I'm always on the hunt to add to the 5 I currently listen to. This review is only for the Bobby Bones show. So, I was trying out the Jason and Deb show to see if they're worth adding to my podcasts when they happened to mention "other radio stations" without naming them. I did a little research and came across the Bobby Bones show. I try to listen to at least a month's worth of podcasts before I give an opinion. Or earlier if it's exceptionally good, or bad. This belongs in the latter category. I like that they have a female member on the show. It prevents my morning shows from getting dominated by sports. On the other hand, I also like my shows to be liberal. And Amy's conservatism and Bible thumping rubs me the wrong way and I just can't relate to her. Call me cold-hearted, but her break down on air about her mom made for really bad radio. I listen to podcasts to be entertained and this type of segment is meant for more serious shows. I actually like Lunch Box. But in tiny amounts. He's the type of guy I can put up with on the show because he'll do the bits and stunts (like wearing jeans he hasn't washed in months to keep them in a fit that he likes). I really don't have much of a positive opinion on the titular member, Bobby Bones. His personality is rather bland. Compared to my thoughts on LB and Amy, I can't really remember much about him. He's the anchor to the show more to keep everyone in line while their personalities shine through while his remains muted. I'm not really a fan of all the Top-40 music that they play on the Bobby Bones Show, but I enjoy the talk portion. I'm an early-morning listener and often it's the thought of the show that makes me hop out of bed promptly when my alarm goes off! I never want to miss it. The hosts talk about some inane stuff, like lots of celebrity news, but I always find it interesting to hear the different points of view. I think they present a great variety of opinions and Bobby serves as a good moderator when Lunchbox won't give Amy a break. Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of the show is just that the hosts are real. They're human and, whether you can relate to their perspective or not, you can appreciate the issues they're talking about. They also talk about Austin area events and keep their listeners posted on things happening downtown. It's a slightly silly and really noisy show full of mediocre music and lots of games, but the hosts are stellar! read more

I have to admit, I'm a fan of the Bobby Bones morning show. Main Host-Bobby is a really sensitive, girly man. What can I say? He talks about his commitment issues, his no daddy issues, and so on... Even so, he's honest about it and I appreciate that he doesn't hide it. I also like that he has no shame in admitting that he's really sensitive and I like a lot of what he has to say about how to treat a woman. I just wish he could find one.... Producer-Carlos is the most generic/"unreal" Mexican I've ever heard on the radio. Even so, he's funny because he knows he doesn't know squat about his culture and he's a good sport about it. He no longer mumbles as much as he used to and I like that he's become more confident on the air. Co-Host-Lunchbox is a male chauvinist. Even so, he makes no excuses and I can't hate him too much. He loves Tina Turner and so do I. I feel that he gets the shaft on the show for the most part, but it's because he's the most obnoxious. He can be a tool, but it's all in good fun. He's very opinionated and I appreciate anyone who can say what's on their mind even if it's not the popular vote. Amy is the female co-host. She is very Christian and an all around goodie-goodie. She gives the show a positive outlook and helps balance out the males. The one gripe I have about her is that she always talks! She talks when callers try to talk, she talks over the other hosts, she talks to herself, she talks during games....I sometimes wonder if she feels she is the only person on the show. I've had to restrain myself from calling in and just asking her to shut up and give someone else a chance from time to time. However, I feel she is a good hearted person. I like that these people are up front about their views, likes/dislikes and pretty open about their lives. They don't put on fronts or airs and they just yap. They play ridiculous games and often I find myself laughing out loud at my desk. They also hate the music their station plays and make no bones about it. Let me start off by saying that your radio is like your television. You can turn it off or to another channel at anytime. That's what makes this country so great, your freedoms to watch and listen to whatever you want. Those that have negative things to say about "The Bobby Bones Show", obviously you were listening to it at some point to make such strong opinions. My sister in law went to school with Lunch and is a very cool guy, and very fun to hang out with and party with. I meet Amy when she first joined the show with Bobby at a Hootie and The Blowfish concert and they both were really nice and not to busy to talk and share a laugh. We have been to Bobby's show a few times and he always takes time to talk after the show. We have even hung out with Carlos and he is just your average nice guy that enjoys people and having a good time. Anyone who listens to the show for half a second knows that Bobby is very open when he "borrows" an idea from someone else.....and is the LEAST homophobic guy I have ever heard. What is wrong with having some fun in the AM's? I, for one, am completely annoyed with ANY DJ's that choose to talk in the AM's.....except for Bobby and gang. I would prefer that they actually turn the music off completely and just chat. They make me laugh, they entertain me and they generally get my day off to a great start. I tune in ALL the way from San Antonio and have to tolerate static the entire time, but guess what? BBS with static is better than ANY radio show completely clear. a few years back, when i listened to this station on an occasional basis, there was this one thing they would do that irked the shit out of me. this is the reason i put a ban on the station. they would advertise themselves as the "new" kissfm. there was absolutely nothing new about the station. they played the same music, had the same location, etc. the only thing that changed was the "kiss" part. but they tooted that damn change for over a year. last year i decided to give it a listen. total and complete air trash. who is this bobby bones character and why is he a quasi-austin celebrity? why is he on channel 15 at night? i can't think of a single reason to listen to this station. the sidekicks don't save the show either. i'd rather listen to fart jokes on klbjfm than bobby bones and kissfm. read more

OK, I wrote a review and then took it off. I have such mixed feelings about 96.7 KISS FM. On one hand, I love the Bobby Bones Show, on the other hand, I pretty much hate the rest of the day when they aren't on. It's pretty unfair to me. I just wish they would stop and think about what they are doing to me. I mean, one minute I'm sitting there laughing and enjoying the verbal banter on the Bobby Bones show, and the next WHAM a playlist of 10 songs (if I'm lucky) plays repeatedly until I'm on the verge of taking a baseball bat to my own car radio. Just the fact that they are playing the SAME SONGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WHY??? I mean, seriously, are you trying to drive me crazy? Go turn your radio on RIGHT NOW, and flip over to 96.7 and I GUARANTEE if Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift aren't on, they will be within 1-2 songs of whatever you're listening to. It really ticks me off. I just want some variety. 96.7, can you give me variety? If you can I will up my rating to 5 stars, I PROMISE. Until then you only get 3. Moving on to the Bobby Bones Show. I love it. Here's why: Bobby - the host of the show. He's a lovable, self-proclaimed geek or nerd or whatever. His self-esteem is pretty pathetic and that makes him more likable to me. I just want to hug him and take him to therapy (fortunately he takes himself there). The poor guy is actually VERY cool, smart, quick witted, and funny, when he's not complaining and self-doubting that is. Lunchbox - this guy is... your typical frat boy wannabe. He likes booze, women, and dirty jokes. Fortunately for him, I find his sexist humor amusing, and when it gets to be too much, Bobby always puts him in his place. Some people find Lunchbox extremely offensive, but I really think he's hilarious. I also love Lunchbox's ability to just put himself out there. There is nothing he won't do or say. The bits when he goes and poses as a homeless person, or went to a poetry reading and did "stand-up comedy" were hilarious! Without lunchbox, the show wouldn't be the same... and I'd probably stop listening. Carlos - he's the quieter one. I like him, though. When he talks, he can be funny, and he and lunchbox play off each other well. Amy - Amy is the only one I'm not super fond of. Amy... irritates me. She can be a bit preachy and overly sensitive, and makes me wish there was another female on the show to balance her out. She also doesn't know when to shut up, and laughs way too much at her own jokes... her own, super unfunny jokes. I also find Amy's obsession with Taylor Swift incredibly disturbing. I mean, yes, if Amy was funny, I'd think she was kidding around... but she really doesn't seem to be joking. It's awkward, and creepy. But Amy means well, her heart is in the right place, and I think she's probably a really sweet person. All in all it's a really entertaining show and keeps my morning drive from being monotonous and mundane. read more

I love this show! If you want to laugh early in the morning and feel like your in the studio with them- this is the show. My kids love the show also, one is into hip hop and the other is into country, yet this morning show has all of us laughing. All these people who have nothing better to do than give these bad reviews about a show they don't even listen to is pretty pathetic, get a life! I enjoy the Bobby Bones show and listen to it every morning on my way to work. They have some good discussions and usually crack me up. Especially Bobby's gas story on the treadmill. Bastrop just had a major fire, people lost everything some lost it for the second time and in my commute to and from work in Austin ( an hour avg ) I heard about everything but the fire, no alerts, now news, no help sending people to the right place to get answers. It takes 10 seconds to read a web address for people to go to and find the latest, NOTHING!! But I did learn how the athlete found unconscious from a drug OD in a brothel was many times !! Some of the people effected by the fire only had radio to turn to. read more
