History
Established in 2011.
For over thirty one years, owners Bob and Bernadine Hansen have built their lives on the philosophy, "If it feels right go for it." They live in Crystal Lake and have made a tradition of coming up to Lake Geneva for their anniversary. On July 12, 2011 (their anniversary), they walked into a small gift shop that happened to be for sale, and two days later Kismet was born. Kismet is the connection between local artists' beautifully handcrafted items and customers looking for that very unique gift. So whether you are an artist looking for a place to sell your work, or a customer looking for something special, let Kismet be your Lake Geneva destiny.
Meet the Business Owner: Bernadine H.
Bernadine was a school teacher for over 25 years. She taught for 10 years before she had children and then for another 15+ years after the children were older. In between those years, she and her husband Bob raised three sons. She has always loved crafting and talking with people, so when the opportunity to purchase a handcrafted gift score presented itself, she knew it was meant to be. Bernadine and Bob walked into a gift store on their anniversary looking for a good deal on some gifts. While talking to the owner, who was wanting to sell out, the owner made them an offer that they couldn't pass up. Two days later. they decided to by the store and one week later Bernadine retired from teaching. Everything seemed to be destiny, hence the name of the store, Kismet, which means fate or destiny.
