She broke down around 2:30pm and called AAA who said there was no one available to tow her back to Long Island, but they could tow her to a local shop. They gave her the run-around, no one was answering the call, and around 4:30 pm I started searching for local tow companies. I called a company called Wreck who referred me to Josh of Pollack's Towing (I'll leave a positive review for Wreck later). Josh answered the phone right away was optimistic, friendly, and gave us hope. He said they would look at the car and if they couldn't fix it then they would tow her home. Around that time the dispatcher got through to another angel (LadyTow, i'll leave a positive review for her as well). She arranged with Josh to tow my friend to him, and his whole team showed up and rolled up their sleeves. Josh and his team found a part store with the part they needed in-stock, and one of them drove my friend to buy the part, about 30 min out, then all the way back, while meanwhile Josh and the other guys were taking the bad part out of her car. They got the new part in and a new belt, and by this time the battery had lost it's charge, yikes! but they didn't give up, they worked on that too, and got her safely back on the road and on her way home finally at about 9:30pm. Let me set the scene...Christmas Eve 2025 after dark, as my lovely husband is driving home down…read moreI78, he so graciously found a large portion of someone's tailpipe they unfortunately left behind in the middle of the highway. Well, in a blaze of glorious sparks, he had to pull off to the side of the highway (which is a feat in itself let's be honest). As he gets out of the car to try and see what the actual F is going on he realizes that the vehicle has sprung a leak but unsure as to where it was actually coming from. After a little bit of fenagling he was able to unjam the offending object from under the car to see that it was up close and personal with the transmission and we now have a rather large issue. Luckily, he was able to limp the car to the next exit/gas station and able park it out of the way, but things were only getting worse. Now comes the realization it is after hours on a big holiday eve... and we also forgot to reup on our AAA subscription (my bad I will be getting on that asap). However, after a few phone calls and some google searches, we came across the listing on Yelp for Kaufman Towing with the holy grail of labeling of "open 24hrs". Within 30 minutes of finding the phone number and making the call we have the car parked in our driveway to wait another day to deal with it and the insurance. They were wonderful people, and the wait was microscopic compared to most as well as the price.
