When she started drinking lots of water and losing weight rapidly, they tested for that (was negative), did an X-ray (also showed nothing alarming, no tumors). Roughly $500 to tell me nothing, advised to take to their friends up the street for ultrasound. Could not get her in there for over two weeks. Her symptoms were getting worse by the day, this wasn't going to wait. Found a place that had a cancellation spot on Thursday, they did the ultrasound and bloodwork, called me 24 hours later and told me to get her to the ER. Turns out she's diabetic and was in ketoacidosis, she would have died if they hadn't found this when they did! She spent the weekend in the ICU and Stepdown at Medvet and Thank Our Heavenly Father, is on the road to recovery with insulin and special diet. Here's the kicker.. When I took her back to Milford for follow up, I asked the vet why they didn't just do the simple pin prick glucose test. They hadn't checked her urine in a year and a half, she exhibited classic symptoms for diabetes and had gone from 48 pounds down to 36 (now 32) in a matter of a few weeks. Her response? "The other vet discussed Cushing's with you so I followed their plan, and it WAS a Friday when you brought her in..". IT WAS A FRIDAY!!! $500 at their practice, $700 at AIM for ultrasound and bloodwork, another $6,000 at Medvet, for what she could have told me with a 5 minute pin prick. my baby could have DIED, and "It was a Friday".. Then she charged me for the follow up visit. Just wow... No critical thinking observed in this series of interactions. Cost me thousands of dollars and could have cost me her life. So incredibly disappointed.

My experience was extremely lacking. She had one round of IV chemotherapy and her side effects were the worst she could possibly have. There was no communication with her oncologist, despite multiple attempts regarding her reaction. After a month of still not speaking with him. I decided not to proceed with chemo at that time and work under the care of her primary veterinarian. Karen did extremely well on oral medications to slow her tumor growth, for around 7 months. Recently, I noticed blood return in her urine and knew it was time for a recheck. This time, I chose my specialist by word of mouth. Veterinary Oncology and Referral came highly recommended by friends with a cancer pup and by Karen's primary Veterinarian. After my initial appointment, I could understand why. Instead of feeling talked at, we had a conversation about Karen's condition. Both Doctors and staff were friendly, informative, and professional. I opted to try a lower dose chemotherapy. I appreciated the fact I was given multiple OPTIONS than an aggressive IV chemotherapy since my girl wasn't given any at the previous center. Although my dog's tumor is inoperable and recovery is not expected, her quality of life is extremely important to me. I want her to live comfortably with what time we have left. I truly believe my concerns were addressed, and care was given with my girl. Highly satisfied and highly recommend.

After our primary care vet referred us to one of the local "factory" specialists (you know the ones where the first thing they do is take your pet away from you for their exam) and they suggested $1000s worth of tests just to find out what type of cancer she had; we were fortunate enough to find Dr. Harris and her staff. She was (sometimes painfully) straightforward with us about our girl's status and prognosis. She was always positive and optimistic. She listened to us and talked to us like the intelligent adults we are. She also laid out the treatment plan and all the contingencies. Most importantly she gave us six months with our girl that the other vets, and all the online advise, said was improbable. And our dog was in good spirits right up to her last week. When the fateful day came she and her staff were as caring, understanding, supportive and sympathetic as anyone could ask for. Although I hope we never need her again, I would not go anywhere else. P.S. While we were willing to spend almost any amount asked, Dr. Harris always gave us all the options when it came to costs and treatments. We ended up spending less for all the services Dr. Harris provided than the other vet had quoted us for just the initial tests.

Donna T. accidentally attributed it to the WRONG Vet practice!) Medical center incorrect 1 star review. So, I feel the need to write about a VERY recent experience that I had with Dr. Steffen and our 9year old Basset hound, Lily. About 2 weeks ago I got a phone call from my husband that Lily wasn't acting "right". Now, mind you,I was out of state and had been for over a month! He said she was barely moving around and not eating much. I freaked out and said "well, how long has this been going on (1 day) and did you take her to the vet (no)?" Mind you he called to tell me all of this on his lunch break and I went into a full PANIC. So, I IMMEDIATELY called Dr. Steffen's office told them what was happening and even though they were SWAMPED that day, they got Lily in to be seen WITHIN AN HOUR! Ten minutes after she was seen Dr. Steffen PERSONALLY called me LONG DISTANCE, to let me know what was going on with Lily. Turns out her arthritis was acting up and she was probably suffering from some separation anxiety! Lily had performed an agility course exam with very little problem, her heart, lungs, stomach, etc.were all fine as well! In fact we both agreed that Lily kinda pulled a "Kim Kardashian" as she is quite the diva , lol ! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Steffen and her staff. They are ALL highly compassionate, professional and personal in their care of your furbabies. I completely trust them with the care of my "pets" and I highly recommend them for others as well!

I had a very troubling experience with Dr. Gwendolyn Steffen and her clinic, and I want to share my…read morestory to help others make an informed decision. This was my first experience with a veterinarian, as Reese is my first dog, and it has been nothing short of disappointing. The issues began on around October 2023, when I arrived to drop off a fecal matter sample for Reese at the time Dr. Steffen had instructed. Despite it being business hours, she wasn't there. Just as I was leaving - she arrived, she made an offhand comment, "Of course, someone showed up as soon as I left." After a lengthy conversation about music, she mentioned that the computer system was down and told me not to worry about the fees. However, when I tried to schedule another appointment later, I was informed that I had an outstanding balance with late fees and interest, which I had never been told about. Despite updating my address multiple times, I never received a bill. Things took a turn for the worse during my visit on October 23, 2024. I brought Reese in for a sick exam, and Dr. Steffen recommended sedating her, which I agreed to. The appointment was at 11:15 AM, but Reese wasn't seen until just before 1:00 PM, leaving me waiting for over two hours without any updates. After the sedation, I was hit with a significant bill for services I never authorized, including laser and ozone treatments. When I voiced my concerns, Dr. Steffen was dismissive. It was especially alarming to see Reese leave the clinic in worse condition than when we arrived--she was walking on her back legs in a strange manner and had her tail tucked between her legs. The billing issues were compounded by Dr. Steffen's refusal to correct inaccuracies in Reese's medical records. She falsely documented that I had requested pain management for Reese, which I never did, and added condescending comments about me being a "financial loss" to the clinic, even suggesting I was seeking free services. This was simply untrue, as I have always paid for any services rendered. When I asked for these inaccuracies to be corrected, she refused. Throughout my time dealing with this clinic, I also experienced multiple instances of microaggressions and blatant racism. The most egregious was when Dr. Steffen asked me if I had been assaulted in the face because of the size of my lips--a deeply inappropriate and offensive comment. Additionally, when she prescribed pain medication for Reese, she repeatedly emphasized that it was "canine pain medicine." I don't understand why this would even need to be clarified at a vet's office; it felt like another condescending assumption about my knowledge. Additionally, Dr. Steffen frequently brought up her Black boyfriend in conversations, which came across as performative rather than relevant to Reese's care. On top of these concerns, I overheard staff talking negatively about Reese when they thought I couldn't hear. It contributed to an overall atmosphere of unprofessionalism and disrespect. Dr. Steffen would often mention that all of my calls were recorded whenever an issue arose, but when there was a dispute about something she said, she never referenced these recordings when it turned out she was incorrect. To address these issues formally, I have submitted a complaint to the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board. I strongly urge anyone considering this clinic to read all the one-star reviews on Google carefully--they are consistent with my experience and paint a concerning picture. This clinic's practices fall far short of the standard of care that pet owners deserve. I hope sharing my experience helps others avoid the same issues I encountered.
