This was my first time ever getting a massage so take my review with a pinch of salt but my masseuse was the loveliest lady, her name started with K and it had 2 or 3 syllables UGH I FORGOT But she really popped off w/ my massage. Gets up on a stool and everything to use her body weight. I asked for deep tissue focusing on my back but I got a FULLL BODY RELAXATION from my feet and calves to back of thighs, then my entire back, shoulders and neck, I flipped over and she did my arms up to my FACE, not sure if the citrus oil will break me out but it's fine, and then at the end yes they give you tea and cookies and a hot towel. Almost got MUGGED. Tourist be aware!! This location is in a very shady neighborhood. I almost got mugged but quickly picked up on the situation and got away into the main street. This is in a dead end street and all of a sudden a lot of shady guys on bikes and scooters started to act lost and asked stupid/alarming questions. It is weird, the door of the establishment is locked and is supposed to unlock couple of minutes before your appt. OMG!! After walking all over (7 miles a day) Barcelona for the last 6 days, I desperately needed some body work. Not only is this place comfortable and relaxing, they allow you to choose your oil (very nice) and end the session with refreshments (tea, cookies and water). My therapist was amazing and although she didn't speak a lot of English, she understood what I needed (by touch) and seriously hit all the needed pressure points. After arriving, Veronica introduced herself, showed me the different types of oils, and then showed me the room we'd be in. The place was lovely, well kept, and the vibe was super relaxing. We talked about the different types of massages and what brought me in to get a massage. I let her know I was having lower back pain and shoulder discomfort and we quickly agreed that a deep tissue massage would be the best option for me, mostly targeting these areas. I made the WhatsApp reservation request and they replied quickly and confirmed time and type of massage. At the door I was greeted by two friendly masseuses who offered me tea. There were male and female clients which is a good sign. After the room was prepared I went on up. The one hour deep tissue massage hit the spot. Very focused and attentive massage. When booking do so in English if that's your primary language. My masseues had halting English but between my Spanish and her English it was fine. my wife and I booked 90 minute massages. They actually have 2 locations - and we were told to go to an alternate address that's "not the one on TripAdvisor". My therapist was Claudia from Italy, although very pleasant, gave an ordinary Massage-Envy quality "Swedish" style massage, not "Zen", or multimodal/therapeutic like indicated on the website. My wife's masseuse came in a few minutes late, hurried in, looking at her cell phone, barely introduced herself - and my wife's massage from her was horrible. Hands rubbing the same spot over and over on her arm or back like a robot, no technique at all. A cold wipe (like a "Wet Wipe") was used after each section was rubbed, sending shocks through my wife - very unpleasant. When my wife left the room, she was standing outside the room still texting on her phone, didn't even say a word to my wife. This is a "tourist bait" trap - they obviously got a few good reviews and some nicely decorated rooms, then hire inferior, incompetent help. As soon as we left through the door, another "tourist sucker couple" came in the door. We feel sorry for them. :) read more

Wow, I have been getting massages for the last 30 years of my life. This was *** the worst one ever. *** The therapist (who never told me her name nor asked mine) had obviously been trained in the proper strokes. But she was completely unaware that the body under her hands was a person and that a massage should be a reflection of the client's needs, not a rote memorized performance of strokes. She repeatedly ignored my requests to work less deeply, she ignored my clear and obvious tensing when she worked certain areas too hard, and she failed to, as requested, "work slowly with my injured shoulder joint" - so much so that I had to take back my arm from her and tell her to move on. Throughout the massage I kept thinking, "I have to end this, she's not listening and she's hurting me." But for some reason I didn't, and stuck it out. My mistake. At least it left me with a great story to tell... I imagine other therapists at Kiromasaje may be better, but if I knew this therapist's name in order to warn you away from her specifically, I certainly would!! read more
