I have been going to Aire in Chicago since it opened and was excited when I had a trip planned to Barcelona and we decided to have a spa day at Aire - Barcelona! Though the location is beautiful and clean; with great customer service at the front desk and the massage rooms are beautiful. But if I had to be completely honest, I don't think I'll ever be back. I waited two weeks to see if Aire - Barcelona would reach out like they said they would, but they have not. Not only was my friend (who is a Spanish speaker) heard the masseuse talking about her weight and how she didn't want to touch her, the masseuse did not know that she spoke Spanish, but it doesn't matter. Then the locker room attendant literally told me I was stealing a bathing suit, knowing that I'm not from the country, nor have no idea where they store bathing suits! Most people would simply ask where I get my bathing suit from, but she was telling my friend that I stole a swimsuit and so my friend was trying to explain to her (in Spanish) as well as me with a translator, that that's not the case. Then we spoke with the front desk, and at first, they thought it was miscommunication. Even though I literally told them story, but I had to have my friend back me up and tell them she told the locker room attendant, the same story in Spanish! And all they said was, we're sorry; I did have to walk away because I was becoming really upset. They came outside to apologize to me and said that I'll be in touch with customer service. This is not my first time in Barcelona but I did have a reminder that being a black American woman, realizing that no matter where I go, sometimes how I look will present issues. Whether you believe or not. Crazy part is, we paid for drinks that we never got, customer service never reached back out and I just want to note that if you are going to Aire - Barcelona, be careful and probably record all your conversations with them because I've seen they don't care.

Rating (maximum points = 5) Value for money: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Food Quality: N/A Customer Service: 5 Look and Feel (Ambiance): 5 Thank you, Come Again?: 5 While traveling in Barcelona, my party decided to try out the Aire ancient bath house for some rest and relaxation. We've been traveling non-stop for a little over a week around Europe and really needed something to help comfort us. At first I was a little skeptical about going to a bath house, but I'm so glad that I didn't miss out on this unique opportunity. Aire Ancient Baths is a franchise. Their locations in the states include New York City and Chicago. The other locations in Europe include Barcelona, London, Copenhagen, Sevilla, Almeria, and Vallromanes. For a couple's 45 minute massage and 7 pool experience, the starting price is at 250 Euros. Total time is 120 mins. If you're looking to book a solo experience, the 45 min massage and 7 pools start at 118 Euros. Total time is 120 mins. The staff was very professional and attentive. The locker rooms are split up by male and female guests. Both locker rooms offer amenities such as towel service, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, private showers, hair dryer, lotion, hair spray, and disposable combs. The lockers are included as part of the experience and have enough space to store your clothes, a purse or small backpack. All the guests are required to change into a bathrobe and "sock slippers" as they prepare for their spa experience. These items are both provided by Aire guests. All guests must also wear their bathing suits. Once you enter the pool area, there are different options for you to relax in. They include a Euculyptus Steam Room, Salt Water Pool, Hydrojet Pool, Hot and Ice Cold pool, and a standard room temperature pool. I personally tried all of the options and enjoyed the Hydrojet pool the most. It was like having a massage in water. Overall, I highly recommend getting out of your comfort zone and trying out this bath house. If you enjoy self-care, spas, and massages, then definitely check Aire. The architecture is immaculate and stunning. The ancient bath house mixed with a modern twist, is an experience you definitely don't want to miss. I didn't get a chance to take any pics inside but feel free to check out their website for more information. If you plan to go, make sure to schedule an appointment online. https://beaire.com Would you go? Let me know. Follow me for all the sips and trips.

The massage was deeply relaxing with perfect pressure -- effective without being too intense. The place is very professional and clean, and the receptionist was very kind and helpful with excellent English. I left feeling refreshed and highly recommend Jira and this place.

SOLID START, SOLID FINISH…read more The Asians know a lot about massage: Thailand, China, Japan and Indonesia enjoy a wealth of local knowledge on body mechanics, energy systems, and therapy. It's no great surprise then that most of my massages are from these establishments BANGKOK HEALTHY SPA does not disappoint. The receptionist immediately recognized my name and confirmed my appointment time. Another receptionist apologised profusely for the minor delay in the start of my treatment. And, without looking at the reservations book, the receptionist not only knew that I wished a very strong massage but also asked if that was the service I desired or wished to change my mind. Good, solid start. I was a bit wary of the slightly worn slippers provided and chose to keep my socks on and ignore it. There was no tea or beverage station (which is always a thoughtful touch). Anyway, how was the treatment? My therapist was a "savage". She instinctively manipulated problem areas before I could even offer guidance on areas to tackle. The therapist clearly had a gift. The massage was an expertly delivered combination of nail-biting "torture" and soothing massage with stretches. That's good. I left feeling like a million dollars. Even although the spa had closed, no-one rushed me or seemed remotely perturbed that I had taken a little time to rouse from my blissed out state. Admittedly, I was skeptical. I am always circumspect with new facilities. BHS is the real deal and is (mostly) excellent at what they do VERDICT: TWO THUMBS UP! WE WILL BE BADK

So glad we found this place…read more We have been traveling for almost 2 weeks and had done a lot of walking and my friend and I were in great need of massages. I hurt everywhere-I think carrying my big camera was hurting my back. Anyway, I got on Yelp and also online to find a spa or massage place nearby. (Hint-do not google just massage places in Barcelona-you will get places that are not the reputable type places, ew. Make sure you put Spa!). We thought about going to the Hotel W but they were across town and really pricy. We asked our concierge at our hotel (Royal Ramblas) and they suggest Rambla 130 and it was directly across the street! We simply walked over there to make our appointment. It wasn't so easy to find, not a lot of signage, but we had the right address and someone in the building told us it was on the 3rd floor. The nice girl that spoke some english made our reservations and fit us in that afternoon. We were thrilled. They have all kinds of services, several massages incuding reflexology to choose from and also they do facials, manicures, pedicures. The don't have the hot tubs and saunas and that whole experience that full blown spas have (at least I don't think so, I did note someone showering there) but their massage services were really good and we didn't have all day anyway. I was really wanting a deep tissue massage (they called that an "osteo" massage) and my friend wanted a softer massage. The prices were great-the osteo was $60 an hour and a regular massage was $50. The W Hotel was way pricier than that, about 3 times as much. To my disappointment they got us mixed up (I think there was a lack of communication) and I got the softer massage. But maybe it all worked out because my friend ended up needing some more intensity and my person, her name was Ava, did such a great job with me. She did an all over massage, versus just focusing on the hurting areas, so I think we both ended up getting what we needed. I would give Ava 5 stars. My friend had a guy give her massage and I know she was really happy with him too. I wish we had time to try their different services. A pedicure or facial looked so enticing but we were short on time. Loved the atmosphere of the place, modern and calming. Highly recommend and would definitely go again.
