I have been a patient of Dr. Pradeep Thapar for at least 5 years. In that time I have been treated…read morefor a Major Depressive Disorder that I have suffered with for 30 years and only got worse over that time after many attempts to get on the right med combo. (I react badly to psych. meds) This dr. was the only one that stuck with it until something worked and supported me during many in patient stints and a Alcohol abuse problem that arose (many of us will self medicate to ease the pain of depression.) They even got me genetic testing to test for meds that would work for me instead of having me suffer as one med failed and then another. After reading some of the reviews below I feel the need to mention this: NEVER have I seen his staff act in an inappropriate manner and God knows I gave them enough Lip on the phone for their phone system or waiting to long. Let's face it us that have suffered for so long with our conditions sometimes can get triggered by a glance our way. In any of those occasions the Staff, office manager and especially Nurse Nancy and Dr. Pradeep Thapar have talked me down and found a solution and solace during that bad time. As far as them only wanting to prescribe high priced meds and take your money as mentioned, Nurse Nancy knew I could not afford the Pricy naltrexone shot for alcohol abuse after another release from treatment and was worried I would relapse. She called all her connections to get Naltrexone I could afford for me. Now does that sound like price gougers to you? If you want a REAL doctor that WILL find the right med and treatment, they never give up on you, then call this office and don't look back they will give you hope. KEEP FIGHTING TO GET BETTER DON'T GIVE UP! Added: Not sure why the posting lists I am in Ca! I am in Monee, Il!

Would not discuss the reason for the bad review. The review was about the NEW Psychiatrist I got assigned to because my Psychiatrist quit working for this provider. I was blocked from leaving feedback after they did this to me and just found Yelp to leave updated feedback. Please beware if you use this provider, I'd recommend another therapist/psychiatrist. Beware, they don't care about their patients, only the reviews.

Lena and Pam always greet me with a smile when I check in. They are quick to share a laugh and you can tell they have a really good dynamic working together. It's very different in a facility where the therapists and doctors talk to each other directly to help coordinate your care, the quality is much better. I've had to leave two different teaching hospitals that are supposed to be on the forefront of medicine and care-the providers weren't nearly as empathetic and responsive. These guys are night and day in terms of the quality in care. The office feels homey, not cold and sterile like you'd imagine in a hospital. I have never before had someone validate my experiences and the effort I've made to work through my issues the way Dr. Sims and my wonderful therapist Paula have. They make me feel like a strong, capable person, not like a victim or a child-never once have I been talked down to the way other psychiatric providers have before. They make me feel like I have agency and control over managing my illness. They really care a lot about supporting you in terms of self-care, not just medication management. I feel like I am working with them as a team to improve and grow rather than having someone tell me how to take care of myself and shove pill after pill at me to manage symptoms. They are great with out-of-office communication as well. Their text notifications and emails help to remind you of your appointments and they are quick to respond to your questions via email as well. I can't thank this wonderful organization enough for how they provide care with empathy, humor and levity.

I only write this review so that it can help others considering Dr. Beaumont. I was a patient for…read moreroughly four months, having come to seek help with my anxiety issues (as this was listed as one of her specialities). As stated by others, Dr. Beaumont is a nice person and scheduling appointments was always easy. However, I left after four months because I recognized that I had made no progress in working to alleviate my issues. During several sessions, I mentioned various scenarios that induce anxiety and asked for actionable tips on what I can do to work to improve. Somehow Dr. Beaumont would either go off on a tangent regarding something actually irrelevant in her personal life, or try to guess (yes, guess) why I felt the way I stated in certain situations. The guesses were solely based on my appearance and what she'd learned about me up to that point. I can honestly say that the primary advice I received regarding my social anxiety was the following: Try asking people about themselves when starting a conversation, but avoid talking about politics and religion. Try complimenting people on what they're wearing and strike up a conversation from there. This is VERY common advice that I could have found in innumerable articles online instead of spending hundreds of dollars in therapy. Also, she suggested after only a few sessions that I consider anxiety medication, which is actually just antidepressants. She touted the potential benefits and a red flag went off for me at that point because she didn't even try to help me get to the root of my issues. It was a band-aid approach. Overall, I was very dissatisfied because I did not have a quality therapy experience with Dr. Beaumont. I would urge anyone who is looking for help with anxiety issues to seek assistance elsewhere. I hope this helps someone make a smart therapy decision.

It would be much better to look into shadow work. I typically think one star reviews are a bit…read moresuspicious because you can't tell if somebody is just being immature, but I have a whole lot of context behind this one. Many moons ago I was a client of his practice, before it was more common to choose which places you will choose to patronize out of discernment with research. During visits, Martins did not conduct himself with an appropriate demeanor or attitude, which is even worse when you consider what line of work he is in. Nobody wants to work any more, and he chose to put himself in this very position. The way he carried himself could use more manners and interpersonal people skills, including basic ones such as not talking over others. He also speaks with a shocking amount of logical fallacies, such as strawmanning. I have never met somebody who uses so many of these fallacies, that it felt like he was horseplaying, in a serious environment which was not appropriate. I also agree with the reviewers that the space was crowded, though that is probably not the fault of the individual psychologists, so I won't hold that against them. It costs money to rent out a lot, so I can have empathy for that. He visually lacked concentration, which is also something that is going to be a red flag in this field, for this high stakes of a career. He derailed conversations a lot and came off as disheveled due to it. I don't know if this was his first few years as a practicing psychiatrist, and the idea of allowing a newly certified or graduated psychiatrist practice on a vulnerable demographic such as children rubs me wrong, though I do understand needing to get that first entry-level job. Sadly I think he found that he wasn't so good at it, and it might have been hard to just up and change careers, but I truly wish he has. Honestly, seeing so many other negative reviewers who has experiences similar to mine with him, it sounds harsh but I sometimes hope he's passed away. I've come to realize that what Martins does is a very surface-level "band-aid" approach to dealing with the children. I find this immoral and unethical on many grounds, especially when dealing with children who inherently still have undeveloped brains that are still growing and developing. I'd like to suggest and encourage people who are considering seeking this, or perhaps any, psychologist for their child instead get to the root of the problems that are occurring, as is responsible to do. Some ways I suggest to do this include but are not limited to: showing up for your child emotionally, making sure they are not being raised in emotional neglect which is a form of abuse, maybe if they are a bit older and can comprehend and have some level of self-awareness you can introduce them to shadow work, you can also do shadow work yourself as a parent to ensure they are being raised by a healthy individual or healthy parents and are in a healthy environment, not being bitter or resentful of your children because they are our youth and are inherently pure even if you don't understand how so yet or it doesn't seem like it on surface-level, leading by example and teaching your children empathy through both direct and indirect lifestyle choices i.e. apologizing to your children when you are wrong teaches them to own up to their own mistakes as well and shows them that life allows them to develop and grow into beautiful human beings, reading reviews before deciding on which psychologist you feel comfortable to have care for your child and preferably looking for a human/person-centered or IFS (Internal Family Systems) approach, not being quick to assume the worst of children and instead asking yourself, "if I am assuming the best of them, why might they be doing this" and generally being less impulsive in your approach to correcting them. I really do want to suggest one lady who I think is worth looking into, but I first want to pre-warn you that you may seem some very bad reviews written of her online, but Martins also has a jaw-dropping number of bad reviews as well, so if you are already pursuing Martins, you should use your own mind and critical thinking skills to compare the two and see who you think sounds more professional and holds themselves with more grace and talent. Her name is Teal Swan.
