Background: I had a dental emergency at a time when I was in between quality insurance through my job. The dental options provided during this time included what I considered to be chop shop services whereas they suggested removing teeth instead of focusing on saving them. I worried this was because the dentist gets paid for extractions and it's a quicker more profitable procedure they could offer. After being told, I would need to teeth removed, I went to La Contenta Dental in Valley Springs, a recommended office from another source, for a consultation for a 2nd option. Thanks to their consultation and service, I felt I was informed to make the best decision which allowed me every opportunity to keep my natural teeth which was important to me. As another practicing doctor, I can confidently state that he has years of experience and knowledge(Dr. Swann teaches other dentists in the county for continuing education) and I am in awe of how much he knows about every single oral disorders and the latest treatment options out there. I have had a middle ear and cervical cysts removed and also mandible angle reduction surgery via total anesthesia by Dr. Swann. I was particularly nervous and the total anesthesia part, but the doctor was a pro, and before I knew it I woke up with a refreshed feeling with a minimal pain. I easily get them, He took out two teeth, and didn't do what he said, I got a dry socket, I called him after few days of pain and was told he was not going to be in the office until Monday and they prescribed me antibiotic, nothing for all the pain. They said call Monday and they would try to give me some times to come in. Dry sockets are very painful as toothache and ear ache all in once. I called in distress after pain all week, now been 8 days. I was told their computers were down and they would get back to me, I could not believe they just didn't have me come and take all the pain away. I called another Dentist and they took me right away. With three teeth in hand, we called the after hours number and Dr. DuHamel agreed to meet us at his office. He and an assistant spent a couple hours of their day off putting my son's teeth back in. Since then we've been back for followup appts, general cleaning appts and have been very well taken care of each time. My son is very comfortable with Dr DuHamel and his assistants, and we've always been treated very well by the front office staff as well. Thank you Dr DuHamel and team!

The staff are very nice, and the doctors too, but obviously they are being trained by corporate to not accept "no" and I do not feel comfortable going there any longer. The dentists and hygienists are constantly new so you never get the same person. I have been going to this office since I moved here about 13 years ago and Dr. Valencia was amazing but things have not been the same since she left. I walked out after my appointment with total anxiety from the new high pressure tactics and I will not go back.
