Like an awful lot of people, nowadays, there've been times when I've had challenges with anxiety…read moreand depression. Some of these have been short-lived, but for those that've hung around for awhile, I've sought professional help, just as I might with a cough, headache, fever or other "dis-ease" that's overstayed its welcome. If you've ever found yourself in this kind of situation (or if you're there, now), then perhaps you already know that it can sometimes take a bit of trial-and-error to find a really great therapist -- and by "great", I mean someone who has the integrity to be fully present with you, the patience to hear you out without cutting you off to interject their point of view, and insight and awareness to sidestep the typical, general, "light and fluffy" questions, and instead, ask those that get to the heart of the matter (although diplomatically, when needed). Laura Derr is exactly that kind of doctor, and I consider myself extremely lucky that when I really needed someone to help me sort through some difficult stuff, about ten years ago, my search for "one of the good ones" eventually led me to her door. Since that first series of sessions with her, there have been a few times when life's twists and turns have led me back there, and always, the experience has been as good and as educational as ever (about my own inner workings, as well as some of those around me) and, as a result, I've been able to bounce back to normal far faster than I ever had, before working with her. As both a fellow healthcare professional and a former patient of hers, I can't say enough about how glad I am to have had the chance to work with her!

Absolutely awful experience! Exactly what Vinny B stated. I called and asked to make an…read moreappointment and her reply was "probably not" "she was very busy" as I attempted to end the conversation she also stated that she couldn't see me unless I had flexible hours like a nurse - again, I politely tried to end the conversation and she asked what type of insurance I had and had never heard of it in the 29 years she had been in practice - well, Dr. Derr if you had closed your mouth long enough to listen that I do not have to work so I have very flexible hours and also, I was ready to pay out of pocket - extremely rude and condescending, poor communication - best thing she did was call me back so I could hear what her true colors were...can't believe she actually helps people.

This is worst support I could get, this is a scam. Marina the therapist ruined my daughters life…read more Please parents don't get a therapist from them till a Dr see the child and then recommends the path forward. She set her up against the family, when my daughter was suffering from severe anemia hence anxiety and we as a family were helping her cope with school . The worst case is I went out of network as they are in the same facility as the PCP so they could work together and solve the issue. Her medical issue caused ADHD type symptoms and this was in the intake form and no blood tests was done. I dont understand what her training entails. She told the PCP and yet between them, they did not do the test and when I read about iron issues and parents going to a therapist it states they should request a test. A huge red flag which impacted my daughters High School our family relationships. These people have no empathy, or care for a child or a family and should not be in HC. after 3 years of suffering her issue was diagnosed when we went overseas. T

We communicated with the director of Norwood behavioral health and told him we no longer wanted to bring our child to them. He agreed it wasn't a good fit for us. They then continued billing us and we'll see them in court.
