Stopped here for light supper last night . We had 2 orders of breaded tempura shrimp , a mango Dragon sushi roll , rice & Teryaki chicken dish . Everything tasted great but the chicken dish took awhile and came out after we had eaten the other food . Woulda been nice to had it along with the rest of the food ... Breakfast was cold and bland. They would not serve an egg without yolk yet the order card had a box for writing down allergies or any special requests. Unfortunately wry disappointed. Hopefully their sushi is good. read more

My family and I had the most incredible dinner at Kinjo in a long time. What a fun and friend restaurant. I'm going back soon, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you haven't been. Five thumbs up from me read more

Peter Kinjo has done it again, this time combining his Kinjo's locations and Tokyo Street location into one place. It's a busy place at Lunch and dinner, so I'd recommend coming on a weekday between 3-4 so you don't have to line up. They have ramen and yakitori skewers here, and we tried it all. The food is tasty, but beware that all these little reasonably priced items can add up fast. Andy, one of the managers is a great guy and he's running around like crazy. Also spoke with Yukiko this evening who is one of Peter's partners in the business, Mahongany, The District, Macleod Trail, Dalhousie, Millrise, and now the Westhills location. My family of four really enjoyed themselves last Friday for dinner. We called ahead and got our name on the waiting list. It was a good thing too as it was packed out the door. As a result we got seated in right away. Not sure if it's because it's new or people just like Kinjo as there are few in Calgary. It was busy and there were lots of tables and tvs but I did not feel cramped. Quite loud so if you have young kids it might not be great. I have a 8 and 3 year old. Service was great as servers kept coming around. The menu was quite expansive with a mixture of appetizers, cooked food, sushi, and noodles. We ordered a deluxe sashimi, 2 miso ramens, squid legs, yam tempura, and a couple of special rolls. All were very yummy and I was impressed with the quality of the food. Bill came out to $120 which is a bit expensive for my little family of four. So it might not be a place that we go often. Near the entrance they have a little Japaneses market with some drinks and snacks. I thought that was a nice touch and we bought a few drinks. All in all it was really good. read more

One of my favorite places to have a Japanese village theme establishment. It may seem busy at first, but the speed of service is fast and affordable for anyone not willing to spend too much on date night or bringing friends over to try. While you wait for your table, you may browse and purchase Japanese sweets, juices, tea and coffee which is a great idea. The atmosphere were well done and had a lot of Japanese items and decorations were well placed. The food were great for the price you are paying with one of the sushi rolls with jalapeno were poorly made (sushi fell apart upon picking it up with chopsticks), but other than that, they were all great. Overall, this is a great place to host parties, or large groups as they can accommodate and have a small section to cater. I would go back again and get more boss coffee. read more

Joining my family from Canmore here to celebrate an early Christmas luncheon. I always enjoy Kinjo's. Service is always great and the food is delicious. Decor and restaurant are always clean. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Great selection of Japanese food. My order consisted of the Deluxe Sashimi 18 pieces, lobster salad ( Don't order not much flavour and too expensive for what you get), shrimp tempura and steamed rice. Enjoyed green tea and a Caesar. The waiter called it a seizure and I said I would prefer the Julius Caesar; he laughed but I'm not sure he got it but we had a laugh. We ordered a variety of rolls all of which were quite tasty, seaweed salad, ice cream deserts (very tasty) and gyoza which my grandson devoured. Overall, great time and we were not disappointed. read more

This was one of my favorite restaurants pre-pandemic, and I was excited to go back. Now I am sorry I did. This place is a sad shadow of how it was before. They've added a giant fried chicken stand in the center of the restaurant, and now the entire place reeks of grease. I'm pretty sure that they are putting that garbage into their regular dishes now, as I could taste it but hadn't ordered any. And the booth is full of crappy looking cardboard boxes, which are an eyesore. They have what used to be a fun model / candy shop in the entryway, and now it is completely crammed full of junky candy and there were all of six model sets available to buy. One of the dishes had an unnanounced and unappealing substitution, because "Oh, we are trying it out to see if people like it" - Sure, but its not what it the dish said it was on the menu - which is just a low-res scan of their printed ones, and impossible to read on your phone, by the way. Their 'birthday' routine now apparently involves a guy with a snare drum playing extremely loudly. This would have been bad enough even if he hadn't spent another 10 minutes just randomly banging away on it for no reason. Save your money, there are plenty of nice Japanese restaurants around. I miss what this place used to be, and I won't be back. read more

We came here as a group and ordered a bunch of different things on their menu such sushis, yakitori, tempura veggies, ramen, etc. The restaurant made a mistake apparently on the menu and they had written the wrong number of pieces on their menu for some sushis set. When we got the sushis we told the waiter we got less sushis than written on their menu and he told us it was a typo on their new menu and basically that it was less pieces because of their mistake. Quite sad that they couldn't do anything to fix this and take on them their own mistake. Just because of that service, I wouldn't go back or encourage people going there. I was very disappointed with their "solution". Like customers would have to pay for their own mistakes. Kinda sucks if you ask me, especially in 2018. Also, the place is very pricey. You order a million small plates, 5-10$ each and next thing you know, you're at 100$. Definitely not worth it for that price with that service. read more

Excellent! I guess this place had newly opened when I was in Calgary, but I never had a bad meal here. The sushi was terrific as was the ramen. Everything was also very affordable! On top of that the staff was exceptional. They even has a little market area by the register where you can purchase different kinds of mochi, candy, drinks, etc. If I'm ever back in the area I'll for sure return to Kinjo. I was in Calgary a month and probably ate here 6 times or so. read more

I dont order fish anymore at Kinjo but I will have my veggie dishes from here like the spinach dish with peanut sauce, miso soup and veggie rolls. I honestly dont think a business this big has the best quality when it comes to fish... they have like 4+ locations here in Calgary, that is a lot of fish. read more

This will be my last order with this restaurant. This is also the first time I have ever felt strongly enough to leave a review, good or bad, for a restaurant. As I type this I am still waiting for our order, which Was made 75 minutes ago from the time I now type these comments. I just spoke with the manager of the Westhills location and, along with being incredibly dismissive of my concern, he told us that it will be at least another hour before it is delivered. So basically, 2.5hrs from ordering we should be able to eat. Customer service at its worst and I do not suggest to ANYONE ordering from this location. read more

I ordered via on their online menu on July 31 for dinner. If you order and pay online you get 20% discount on most items. The food was fantastic and portions are at par. I'm always a skeptic when ordering take out as special instructions get missed. They did exactly did what I indicated. The only thing was they did missed 2 orders of Salmon sushi but they did something that I have never seen... they called me (I did not call them) and apologized for missed order and I asked them to credit my card.
