Absolutely love Sakana Hoise! There are two locations in…read moreBarrie. We have ordered their Fall & Summer Bento boxes and are astonished by the freshness & quality of their food! It's eat first talk later. The salmon sashimi pieces were thick & juicy and melt in your mouth. The miso soup was rich and warm and so filling. The sesame salad dressing was so yummy that I drank the rest up when my salad was done. Salmon Teriyaki was perfectly grilled with light coat of teriyaki & the shrimp & veggie tempura were delicious with tempura sauce. So much food that I have 2 meals in one! $18.99 for Fall Bento! What a deal for this excellent quality of food. They have AYCE as well for $38.99 but we were on our way home so we didn't have much to experience this. Next time for sure as we really enjoyed everything' Come eat here you will love it!

I have been to quite a few sushi spots but Sakana House is the place I always go back to. The sashimi was melt in your mouth quality and the tempura was perfectly crispy. The service is always good and never disappoints. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick even during the busy dinner rush. The restaurant itself has a cozy modern atmosphere that makes it great for date nights, family dinners, or hanging out with friends. The only thing I'd like to mention as a drawback is that sometimes the servers have hard time understanding you when you ask them for certain things. Which is honestly not the end of the world. There was a time where I asked for water. And I got a hot green tea. Then I got the water but didn't take the tea back. Then when I mentioned the tea to the server she didn't take back and came back with more water. After a long back and forth she took back the tea and 3 extra cups of water Overall a true five star

We were highly satisfied with their fried food, specifically their tempuras (4/5) and scallops (5/5). Their bok choy was cooked well and had a delicate flavour of garlic (5/5). Their skewers were good. The beef and chicken dishes were tender and juicy (4/5). Our favourite was the garlic butter shrimp (5/5) and the torched salmon sushi (3.5/5). However, the sushi rice was too dense and overly sticky. The siu mai (2.5/5) was disappointing because the wrap was a bit dry. The sashimi cuts (1/5) were also disappointing. They weren't as firm as we hoped they would be. We also had dessert afterwards. The creme brulee was too sweet but they had a nice selection of ice cream flavours.

When the male waiter came by, he told us we shouldn't order so much at one time (we had over 40 items). But with four people at the table, that's really not excessive--especially since each single piece of sashimi counts as one item. I alone could easily finish a plate of 12 sashimi raw fish pieces (12 items). The portions were also very small. The soup came in a tiny teacup, and the fried tofu was about the size of dice (1 item count). On top of that, the service was unpleasant. The staff gave us attitude, as if we were eating too much--which is ridiculous for an All You Can Eat place. The food selection was quite limited too. Many dishes tasted the same, especially the beef items. And several popular Japanese choices were missing--no grilled eel sushi, no tobiko, no short ribs, and no grilled squid for lunch. These are all regular lunch items if you go AYCE restaurant in Toronto. We also received dishes we didn't order, and when informing the waiter they were obviously not very happy and keep frowning Overall, this was the most disappointing AYCE experience we've ever had. Next time we'll definitely go to Mandarin instead--it's much better value and service.
