We visited as prospective residents, so I'll tell you my experience. This is an apartment building that was originally built to be condos. I say that because it feels more like condos than apartments. It's 1 large building in the downtown Des Plaines area. There really isn't much outdoor space dedicated to this building, so basically go in and go to your unit. There's not much community space inside either, except for a small gym. They have several different layout types and sizes for the units. We went into 1 model and loved it. It was really nice inside. The problem we really had was the lack of community and community space. As we explored other apartments they have more to offer to their community, have more community space, and more things to do. One last thing. This may be a good thing or bad thing, but they are pretty much at capacity with units, meaning they don't really have a lot of vacancies. If you find one available and you like it snatch it up because it probably won't last long. read more

Don't waste your money to move in this broken appt . Nothing is working, I been living here for 9 months, washer, dryer, oven, bathroom....so many different problems, I got call them constantly, pretty much every week for the same or different issues . The bedrooms are extremely cold in the winter, I usually leave the heat on 73-74, but the bedrooms feel like 60 degrees. We agreed on the rent and one year lease before I sign, they sneaky added 2 more weeks in the lease , you have to read every single word in the lease for the 35 pages, or they will trick you . read more

Nice place to call home. The most important thing you need to know is that management is on it! If any issues arise, maintenance needed, etc., they take care of things extremely quickly. Joe was our leasing "associate", showed us the unit, took care of our paperwork and moved us in. Always very agreeable and extremely friendly and personable. Had he not clued me in, I would've assumed he was the property manager! He has a great handle on everything. And not to forget, he has the patience of a saint. The building has curbside parking as well as guest parking spots. For residents, there is indoor garage parking which should be a requirement for any Illinois home. I mean, the winters, my God! We rent a two bedroom unit and it is a good size. Also has a balcony. Love the spacious kitchen! Plenty of cupboard space. The entryway to the building is quaint. And they tend to the landscaping. Although, because the building is pet friendly - hello animal lovers! - sometimes it can smell like dog urine out front from the pet owners taking their dogs out for potty breaks. But once inside, there's no smell or foul odors. There's a great coffee-hot chocolate-tea machine that makes the BEST hot cocoa! And it's free for us residents! Mail is easily accessible. And for larger packages, there is a secured mail/delivery room. Additionally, they provide carts and dollies for residents when you have groceries or large or numerous bags and things to move between your car and your place. Never seen that before at any building. They also do a great job of keeping residents abreast of neighborhood events with a monthly newsletter. I think I covered it all! Kingston Pointe apartments has the bones to be great, but the upkeep is what makes it all fall apart. They charge plenty in service fees, even rodent removal and monthly camera service fees, which god is being asked for monthly...However, since new management has taken over,; the hallways always seem dirty, no daily cleaning is done, (as I wfh and I know), all the floors need a new coat of paint, along with new carpeting, it seems that with all the dogs in the building they have pooped and leaked on the carpet and you can tell...(piece by piece carpet is recommended for this type of building); which I recommended), for the pet incidents. Also, management should update each floor by refreshing the walls with more modern paint colors, then the dirty off white color showing every smudge since the beginning of time, also update some of the lighting, add chandlers off the exits off elevators, and have a daily cleaning crew. when you walk into Ellison Apartments it smells clean, here you are lucky if It doesn't smell like wet dog on a good day. When the maintenance guys fix things, it's temporarily fixed; as they fixed my balcony screen back on the rusty track and it's off again And they promised to come back and fix a patch they created trying to fix the shower rod and never did Cleaning is not even done daily, maybe they should peek at Ellison and The Lofts in Mount Prospect to see how it's done as this place can be great with a few minor fixes that wouldn't cost management too much to do for their investment. I have lived at Kingston Pointe for almost 2 years. The living quarters are comfortably homey, the management staff is responsive to questions, and the maintenance staff is attentive to cleanliness and repairs as needed. Joe is a first rate building manager and genuinely cares about creating a sense of community. The location near shopping, dining, and Metra to the Loop, as well as its easy accessibility to the expressways and tollway make this an ideal location. They are always changing management and this newer management Calibrate is the greediest of them all... not only does rent and everything else constantly go up, the parking space cost does too... when I first moving here they charged $85 a month for parking (the free outside parking is used up by the people that live in the apartments across the street so you have to buy parking) My wife has a parking spot literally next to mine and her monthly parking cost is $100... together im paying $185 a month for 2 parking spaces that's literally side by side(at a place I LIVE thats $2220 a year for a garage space at my home)... these people had gotten so greedy they they took away the visitor parking for a couple months and was trying to charge people $100 to have that spot for 3 days so my mom and family could never find a spot and they would just go home.. I guess no one was buying and and they turned it back to free parking... they charge you for pest control monthly (its mouse traps in the garage i don't know why we are charged for that) we get charged MONTHLY for common area maintenance (when they are working on something for the BUILDING we pay for it... every month) if we lose our keys and need to be let into our apartment and the office is closed its now $150 (it used to be $50 when I moved in) we get charged extra for everything but they throw pointless community parties and outside workout sessions for the tenants and constantly offer donuts and pastries monthly.. (I see were all the extra money goes now) my personal opinion is that they could keep all of those extra parties,theater tickets and pastries. and stop going up on the rent... if you really want to treat us good as tenants just know we dont care about the cancerous snacks and parties.. we care about being charged for the things you're supposed to handle... other than that the apartment is very nice other than the random pops and clicks that I hear through the walls when I'm trying to meditate... This review is strictly on the company... I was even charged $10 to create a online online to look at my rent lol I love the view but its penny pinching at its finest. One more thing no matter how much they come fix my garbage disposal it stops working after a few weeks and the sink gets clogged. read more

Building itself and units are spacious, modern and well taken care of. I've lived here for one year and some months now and although I love the building , nothing around the area really except the train and expressways. Can't really say there is "shopping" except the European grocery store across the street that's convenient for emergencies. Otherwise, drive 10-11 min to Niles, Rosemont or Mount Prospect- those have actual shopping malls and Target/Walmart. Now the last thing, just my opinion as I work at a property management company and also live in 2021, but there should be a online system for maintenance requests for easy access and maybe a time frame to provide with the day they will arrive -instead of "within 2 days" :) . People like to know when others will be entering their unit, especially when a lot of people work from home these days. That is my only issue tbh except the mail around here is not reliable. But hey, that's a different issue! read more

Lived there for almost 3 years... has a high number of turnovers in the office for some reason but oh well. Good location and the apartments are pretty nice but pretty costly. Had to break my lease 2 months early and boy did I pay for it! I might as well have paid the final 2 months of my lease if I would've known how much I needed up paying. Read the fine print but since I'm not a lawyer I didn't and payed for it. Save your money and buy your own place! read more

Great location near the Metra and shopping. Beautiful modern large apartments! I've lived and rented in this area for 25+ years and this is the diamond in this area. Move in was quick and easy, the leasing agents professional and nice to work with though sometimes difficult to reach due to them being busy with other new residents. I LOVE my apartment, it is spacious and clean, quiet and nicely upgraded. The units were originally built as condos so they are well insulated and quiet and I think there's cement in between the units/floors which is why the temperature remains the same and the noise is minimal to non-existent. Central A/C/heat. The HEATED garage is AWESOME in the winter and I would not have made it without it (I'm from CA). I also have heated floors (something to do with the building having it's own boiler so even the sidewalks melt snow). There is a really nice coffee machine that's complimentary and the hot chocolate is amazing but it runs out if you arrive home too late. Location is great but there is construction on the main street all the time. Mine is a short term lease so I will update this review if necessary but all leases require a 60 day notice to vacate or you pay an additional 2 months rent even if you are not residing in the unit. It's in small print and seems pretty standard from what I've seen but easy to miss and not mentioned. I'm hoping all goes as well with the move out as the move in experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to any animal loving person, as this is a very pet friendly environment. Please note there are coyotes nearby as this property is situated near the forest preserve (yes my view is really nice) so be attentive and don't let your animals go outside unattended and be watchful. I don't hear them and have never seen one but I've been told they are around. I almost forgot! Javier is the maintenance guy and is AMAZING. He usually responds the same day to any maintenance issues. Have I had one? Just my light bulbs going out on 2 different occasions and he took care of me right away. He is super friendly and actually the person who helped me make the decision to move into the building. This building is a little on the expensive side but is actually worth it to me due to the feeling of security, safe location, proximity to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, the heated floors and garage, the in-unit washer and dryer, the lack of noise from upstairs and side neighbors, and the savings from high utility bills due to insulation/construction. My wifi works well, internet is fast, cell phone reception perfect. No outside cooking smells in my unit. The leasing agents remember my name. Before I moved in I stood by the entrance and asked at least 8-10 residents if they were happy here and all said yes. I'm so happy I found this place and really love it!!! Oh, and no bugs:) My condo back home is lakeside and unfortunately I have visitors from outside regularly but never one here in the 4 months I've been here. Want a negative? The fire alarms are LOUD but they work well which may actually really be a positive. Elevators have issues sometimes but the problem is quickly resolved. I have updated this review once already and will update it again if there's anything else I would want to know as a prospective tenant:) If you are doing what I did and moving from a different state site unseen you are good at this property. I moved into a different property before this first, site unseen, lasted 3 days, then found this building. I normally would never advise doing that but you would be fine doing that here. read more

Big shout out to Joe and the entire staff at Kingston Pointe. They are constantly updating the apartment complex with new and fun items, run social events, and are hands down the best for pets. I know there is a lot of competition in the area but so long as this staff is here there is no reason to look elsewhere. Kingston Pointe is willing to help however they can, no matter the issue! I loved living in Kingston Pointe in Des Plaines! Joe helped me find my unit about a year ago, and he was my go-to guy throughout my time living there. The apartment community is friendly and welcoming. I always enjoyed coming through the front doors and having a small conversation with Joe in the management office before going up to my unit. Even through the pandemic, their open door way of managing was still present but with appropriate precautions to keep us all safe. Maintenance requests are handled in a timely fashion and professionally, though I rarely ever needed maintenance on my place. Parking is in a heated garage (amazing in the winters) and felt very safe and secure. I would've stayed longer if I didn't have to move for work! I highly recommend this place to live! read more

I love this apartment. I have been here for a year and a half. The staff (Especially the manager Joseph) are so attentive and always helping you with whatever you need and really get to know you. The units are super nice, and not ONCE in my time here have I heard any neighbors. I felt like I was in my own house. The units are very very nice, with high ceilings and large windows with a sliding door that makes it feel like your downtown living. If I didn't have to move to do location purposes for my family and work then I would honestly stay here for a long time.
