Last time I went to the Doctors in a Kingston Kab I had the misfortune to leave my cell phone in the cab. After several calls and an agonising twelve hour wait to get it back,it was returned to me. The customer service was horrendous. I called a taxi and the receptionist did not know how to spell my address, so I spelled it out for him. The moment I did, he started screaming at me through the phone, aggressively stuttering and proclaiming that he's not a r*tard. This went on for about two minutes straight. I recently used Kingston Kabs for two short trips in Kingston. I reserved one for a Saturday about 5 days ahead. I reconfirmed it Saturday morning (seemed unnecessary, as she had me down for it). It arrived within a couple of minutes of the requested time. The second I called in from Newburg on the way back on a bus trip. We were then delayed by construction on the Thruway. I called and gave them a later time. We arrived even later than that and the Kab was waiting for me. Both drivers were nice, and helped with luggage. I would definitely use them again. The Somali Pirates of taxi companies. Ruthless liars, they will ALWAYS tell you there is a 5-15 minute wait even when it will be well over an hour, just to keep you from calling another taxi company. Extremely rude dispatchers, they talk to you like you are scum when you call in after an hour to check where your 20-minute-away cab is. THE WORST. 50+ reviews, and nearly all are 1 stars? Like 99.9% of the previous reviews I am also confused as to how they are still in business (making people prepay with credit cards is probably one way). Kingston Kabs is most reliable car crevice in city of Kingston. Yes, it's not 100% sure, but you get a ride. I usually schedule a car ahead of time, and my rides are late hours, they're have one driver during weekdays, and he drives ~40 mile radius in area, sometimes you have to wait. Ask dispatcher for waiting time, this people usually say real numbers. read more

Rented a house with some friends in Glenford and were looking for a taxi to take us into Woodstock (15 minutes) on a Saturday night. Googled, called Kingston Kabs on the way out and they were booked, which is fine, but rude. Called them later that evening to ask for a return trip and they were even more rude, and still unavailable. Apparently this is a thing with taxi companies in this area. ????? I called a taxi to get a ride to a wedding 20 minutes away. $26 for myself and a friend. When I came down to the lobby there was already a passenger inside (another guest of the wedding staying at this hotel). Ok, makes sense, it's way more efficient to take one car. And hey, the driver will probably get a bigger tip. When we arrived at our destination he said that it was $26 for me and my friend PLUS $26 for the other guy. What?? How does this make any sense??!!! If anything, add $10 for the extra passenger. This is just a shady business practice. If you are going to charge the full fair then send two cars. read more

There's way too much negativity in the world and I've watched how a lot of irresponsible reviews can hurt local businesses. However, I'm going to make an exception for you Kingston Kabs. I'm not gonna go into details about the two previous experiences I had with you which were less than Sterling. I decided to give you a third chance. You failed! My wife called early last night for a car to pick her up at 4 o'clock in the morning to take her to the airport. You said "no problem! Thanks for calling! We'll be there!! Got it- you're in the book!!!" Had a slightly sick feeling when no one showed up at 4 AM. No, it's not unusual for somebody to be late once in a while. A few minutes is no biggie. Maybe 5 or 10. But when my wife called to confirm, they said "oh yeah, no one comes that early. They should never of told you they could pick you up at 4 AM. Sorry we don't have any drivers for you". Needless to say we were a little pissed off. I now have enough direct experience with Kingston Kabs to safely and responsibly recommend that all people in my community should never use this company and give them your business. Having Uber in Kingston is a godsend. They responded immediately and a car was there in less than 10 minutes. The driver was extremely friendly and responsible and I will never use Kingston Kabs again. Now I know why really crappy car services are against Uber and Lyft. NEVER EVER AGAIN!! There should be a "no star" option, as these people deserve none... I made the mistake of using them twice. I thought maybe I'd just caught them on a bad day the first time. They were hideously late both times after assuring me on the phone -- when I made reservations HOURS in advance -- that they would be there on time. The most recent time, I called to find out where they were and the ding-dong dispatcher makes all kinds of excuses and says it will be another half-hour when they're already very late. I told her I had to make a meeting and she said "Well you didn't say you had a meeting!" Wouldn't they just ASSUME that anyone calling for a cab at a certain time had to BE somewhere at a certain time?!? Horrendous customer service! I emailed Kingston Kabs from their website in advance to set up transportation and never heard back, no response. They clearly don't actually offer this service. I then called to arrange a pick-up an hour before I needed it and was rudely told to make other arrangements and was promptly hung up on. I guess they really didn't want my business. I did make other arrangements with another company in Kingston who provided excellent service! Fast & friendly! Their number is now saved if I'm ever in need of transportation in Kingston again. Quick and reliable, I've never had a bad experience w Ktown Kabs. My last two drivers were likable and friendly. Good, hard working gents that were expedient and respectful. This is my go to cab company when necessary. The phone girl is always professional and gives an honest estimation of the wait time. Absolutely garish. First they fought with me over when I wanted to be picked up. I said 830 they said they could do 8 as they needed an hour and 5 minute window To drive 10 miles and ensure that I would catch a 906 train. We agreed on 815 and then they were 35 minutes late to pick me up. I called at 820 and they explained that that early pick up time was in case they were late and by refusing the extra time they did not need to help me. The people on the phone were SO RUDE. And then they tried to charge me more then the price we had agreed on the night before. If rather walk then ever use this company again. read more

Worst cab company ever! Too bad they have no competition her in Kingston as they'd be out of business pretty fast. I tried to get a ride with them 3x this week to no avail. I had surgery and was not allowed to drive. The first time I waited an hour and half for a quick trip to the pharmacy. I finally had to cancel. The next night I tried again, same story. The 3rd time was through Medicaid for a 11:30am doctors appointment in Poughkeesie. After an hour past the time they were supposed to pick me up I canceled. A doctor's office might see you as much as a half hour late but that is pushing it. Now I have to wait another month to get an appointment with this specialist. I will probably end up trying use them again, as there is not any choice here. If you do have a choice, don't pick Kingston Kabs! read more

Unbelievable. We had guests arrive saying they paid over $30 to get to our home from Rhinecliff station to Kingston, just over a ten mile drive. I thought a mistake had been made as this is ludicrous - it's almost the amount to get to JFK from the city. The incredibly rude woman who said she owned the business hung up after claiming it was totally legitimate due to crossing counties (from Dutchess to Ulster). How in the lords name does a county line have any effect on fuel, mileage or anything else that accounts for cost (except for a ridiculous excuse to rob people of their hard earned)? If I could give it zero stars I would. I try never to call them, but recently needed to get home. As usual, the dispatcher said 20 minutes. After more then that amount of time I called back and that is when all the sarcastic rudeness from the dispatcher started. To give her some credit though, once she hung up on me because I didn't have the exact address of the only Hannafords in the mall area! No matter what she says though, the wait is always over an hour. While I was listening to the dispatcher from Hell make fun of me, a guy from Call a Cab that I had spoke to earlier stopped in front of me and asked me if I needed a ride. I was soooo happy!!! There are a number of cab companies in Kingston. Please call all the others before calling this one. Needed to get from my friend's house outside Woodstock to the Kingston Bus Terminal early Sunday morning. First I tried the Woodstock company someone recommended, but because I was calling after hours Saturday night, I just got an answering machine when I called. So, of course, I needed to look online for an alternative. I came across Kingston Kabs, but was nervous to use them after reading all the negative reviews on Yelp. But, I really had no choice, so I took the plunge. Here's why I'm writing this review: everything about my experience with this company was top notch, fantastic. The dispatcher was kind and attentive, and she let me know how much the ride would be (which, btw, was LESS than I was expecting to pay). Sunday morning I got a call from a woman letting me know the taxi was on the way, and she gave me the option of prepaying with a credit card, which I did (I told her I'd pay the tip separately). The driver showed up on time (actually, 2 minutes early). He was super friendly, and the car was a late model SUV in fine shape, no odors. We had a nice chat along the way about life in Kingston, and when we got to the but terminal I thanked him for such a lovely drive and gave him his tip. read more

I live about 4 minutes from uptown Kingston. My two friends called this cab company from my house and after waiting 30 minutes and still no cab, called them again to be told the cab was on its way. After over an hour of waiting, no cab showed up and they got a ride from someone else. About an hour and a half later, I get a call from Kingston Kabs saying the cab is outside. I told her that my friends left after waiting an hour, about a half hour ago. The female dispatcher had the nerve to nastily reply that it would have been nice if someone had called to cancel the cab. I told her it would have been nice if someone had shown up! I would never recommend this company to anyone. Not only because of the terrible and unreliable service, but because of their bad attitudes and lack of respect for customers. read more

ALL of the negative comments/reviews for Kingston Kabs are 100% ACCURATE. The few positive reviews are only the result of pure dumb LUCK.. here's my take on the company in a nutshell: I have had to rely on Taxi transport for the last few years now, and I want to add that I am a Kingston resident that has used this particular company solely for the last 3 years, because I heard that they were really the only gig in town that was somewhat reliable. When you call to arrange a pick up you are "greeted" by one of three people who really have no business interacting with people on a human level at all ! They are impatient, very rude, brash and DO NOT CARE. They are consistently late and when you call to check in to see where the hell your ride is, you better brace yourself for what's on the other end of the line when you call because you can get just the downright NASTY woman or the man who gives no shits and picks a random time frame out of thin air without actually checking with the car assigned to the call to see how far away the cab is. He just says "10-15 min" then 30 min later.. you call back and he says "yeah, uh.. he'll be there, just give'm another 10 minutes" !! NO LIE! This has happened to me time and time again and I've been late 90% of the time of all the years I've had to rely on these people! When and IF you are actually picked up you are either looking at a car full of other drop-offs and/or a disgusting car, a driver eating McDonalds while driving with the seat almost in full recline so you can't fit your legs in because you have 3 other people in the car with you and are forced to make it work or wait for ANOTHER taxi (this actually happened). I've had an experience when I had to take my child to the Doctor and the driver was speeding and even though I had my little one buckled up, they were being slammed around the back so I had to wrap my arm around them and hold them close. Another time, a driver picked me and my daughter up (my daughter was 5 at the time) and was playing INAPPROPRIATE music in the car EXTREMELY LOUD.. "Bitch" this "Fuck" that.. were in the "lyrics". I wanted to make this review short and sweet but my hatred for this company really boils my blood and so I feel in necessary that I document some of my experiences so people will hopefully read this and take away what I had learned the hard way.. NO MORE.. DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY! And if you question my story AT ALL, I implore you to try them yourself, just one time is all you need to see what I, and so many others are talking about. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait, we waited over an hour and a half for the ride. Also, this ride is usually $15 and the driver charged is $25. Never have I ever been spoken to like that as a customer. I was threatened with a cancelation for asking for an ETA on a 30 minute late cab. If I could give negative stars I would. First off......Dispatchers are VERY VERY rude as I was hung up on TWICE!!!! We had scheduled cab service for 7:00pm as we had a reservation at 7:30 a half hour away. By 7:15 I called to find out where our driver might be and the conversation got heated due to the fact that I was told they were 'Doing their best'. If a cab company is supposed to pick you up at 7......how is 15-20 min late acceptable??. As we were discussing that we decided to drive on our own, the dispatcher hung up on me and I never had the chance to let them know. At 7:25 I received a phone call telling me my cab was outside the house waiting for us, again I tried to explain that we could not wait and had to leave on our own........the dispatcher again hung up on me. I have used Kingston Kabs for my daughter who attends Bard College at least 5 times. They have terrible customer service, not on time and have old dirty cars. We tried one last time today to use them before we switched to someone else. They were 30 minutes late and my daughter was standing in the bitter cold waiting. When I called to ask what happened to the taxi... they told me to hold and then a woman came on and starting yelling and asking me if I called to complain about Amtrack being late.... she said why does everyone complain about Kingston Kabs being late and never complains about the trains. We called at 8:00 AM this morning to arrange for a 1:20 PM pick up... plenty of notice. She was nasty and rude! Do not use this service. read more
