Tim Hart pretends to be a decent human being. In fact, he is a liar and a cheat…read more Like many liars, he cannot remember what he said before, so I heard many contradictory things from him. When my Honda CRV stopped working, he said it needed a whole new engine and that he had one all lined up. Believing his story, I sold the car to him for well less than 1/10th of its value. After he bought the car it suddenly did not need a new engine and was repaired at no cost by his friends in Red Hook. I kept in touch with him. A few weeks later, he could not remember what problems the car had that need to be repaired. Five months later, he suddenly could remember, and gave me a list of things that had been repaired. One of these items, the brakes, had been inspected and okayed by my own expert mechanic prior to the car's breakdown. Furthermore Mr. Hart claimed that he wanted my car to loan to clients whose cars he is repairing. What did he do that? If he advertised himself as a used car dealer, customers would be more suspicious and harder to swindle; if his purchase offer seems to be a one-time thing, he can cheat you all the better. He resold my car a few months after he bought it from me. Tim Hart is in fact a used car dealer and a dishonest one. Why do people lie in the first place? Lies are not a baroque linguistic decoration; they are a strategy to benefit the liar and disadvantage you. If your car won't go, take it to a reputable repair person who is not trying to buy your car. It is worth the towing fees to avoid being scammed for thousands of dollars. Do not believe what an expert says if he is trying to buy your car at the same time since he has a vested interest in lying to you. There are a handful honest and decent people in the car world and I have found two of them by now. Tim Hart is not an honest and decent human being. He is essentially a crook who should be avoided at all costs. I don't know how he sleeps at night.

These guys saved the day and my sanity! I am from New York and was in town with a group of friends…read more As I was driving to a hike my engine shut down, I've never seen so many flashing lights on my dashboard. Luckily I was able to coast to Monro Auto. They were able to take a look at my Subaru almost immediately and initially gave me a very glum diagnosis reporting that one of the tubes was broken and had leaked out ALL of the transmission fluid. The mechanic was was honest, matter of fact and straight forward with the many issues. The manager Chris calmed my nerves and was very reassuring. They worked on the car for two hours and consistently gave me updates. After the car was test driven it was reported that the new tube wasn't enough to rectify the problem and that I needed a new transmission. At this point I was unraveling as I calculated the cost to have my car towed to New York, repair costs, and how my friends and I would get back. As I was on the phone with AAA the mechanic came running out to "try one more thing." He went out to reset the car, thinking perhaps it had switched to a safety mode. It indeed had and the car was working and driving smoothly! This mechanic could have easily completed his diagnosis and moved on to his next job but he didn't. He worked tirelessly to research, identify, and treat the issue. He didn't just push us along, he was thoughtful and persistent. This was certainly not what we had planned for our vacation but these guys calmed my nerves, thoughtfully guided me through the issue, and fixed the car! Chris even called me later that afternoon to ensure the car was running well! Best customer service!

Motorists beware, Monro in Saugerties is a predatory business. My car was damaged at this location…read morewhile it was left for minor repair (tensioner pulley and two belts). This work should have been a 1 day job and cost $500, but I was told by one of the acting manager's (Hailey) they had trouble getting the part and that it would be ready 3 days later at $900. When I picked up the car, after 4 more days of having to call them to find out if the work was done, there was a large scratch running down my passenger's side door and my keys were held ransom until I paid the price quoted for the work to be done at the initial estimated time of 3 days. I heard multiple excuses each day why the work was not done on time and heard everything from: ordered wrong part, the old part broke trying to remove it, and they needed two days to get a drill bit to drill out the piece that snapped off. When I arrived at the location to pick up the car I contacted the Saugerties PD, and there was nothing they could do for a civil matter other than make an incident report. The only manager whose name is posted on the wall (Markos Peratikos) is not present at this location and was not available by phone when the police were summoned over the dispute - despite having spoken to him the day before to report the issue. I was standing there, in the shop forced to call the absentee manager because the acting manager (John Smith) refused to call him claiming he was "in a meeting." This was around 7pm in the evening. I specifically requested Markos call me back when I spoke to him earlier in the day to let me know how much I would be charged when I showed up to pick up the car. I never received a call back after leaving multiple voice messages before going to the location which is about an hour from where I live as this was an unexpected pulley failure. This place is a scam and absolute nightmare. I would never go back to a Monro anywhere after this experience. It pains me to write this as I from the Hudson Valley and saddened to witness how badly the commercial incompetence crisis has blighted this area. I am considering filing a claim with the court. These people should be ashamed of themselves and give decent mechanics everywhere a bad reputation. Be warned, if you value your time and capital stay away from this place. Needless to say they are not registered with the better business bureau.
