During my last visit, I came in to have a brown spot near my eye, treated with cryotherapy. Just before the doctor applied the freezing agent, I noticed she was aiming it directly at my face and close to my eye. I asked her to adjust the angle away from my face, but instead of angling it away from my face, she angled it toward my eye/nose. It happened quickly and it was a bit alarming! After the incident, I attempted to address my concerns about patient safety and comfort through a professional email exchange. Unfortunately, I was repeatedly bounced from one department to another, with no one taking real responsibility. Eventually, my concerns were ignored altogether. There was minimal acknowledgment of what happened, no meaningful follow-up, and no offer of goodwill. If this were my business, I would've reduced the fee or, at the very least, offered a discount on a future visit. Instead, my request was dismissed--and I was sent a letter stating they would no longer provide me with care which was quite insulting. I paid my bill in full and was nothing but professional throughout, but I feel the way they handled this situation was rather surprising. I won't be returning, and I won't be recommending them. They clearly don't value patient feedback.

On the other hand, cutting out that hour and a half drive to get to her (I'd catch up with a bulk of other errands while I'm at it) gives me some serious time and energy while I'm closer to home. Plus not having her around ;-( gave me a chance to branch out and look for a nail salon in Kingston. A bunch of the low Yelp ratings I saw for other nail salons elsewhere had huge red flags: bad technique, rushed jobs, or even unsanitary tools. The way I see it, when it comes to personal care like nails, you definitely want to see high ratings and consistent praise. I mean, don't you? While Pretty X only has one review, that was enough to bring me here. I honestly came here on a whim. Pretty Xo is dreamy, soft, welcoming and clean. The space has a minimalist-chic feel with their airy, beige walls, flooring is done in blonde wood planks and faux florals adding a touch of color. I started with Lily for my manicure who was super gentle, which I really appreciated. Then Yan took over for my pedicure. She wasn't so frilly- but definitely not rough- just the right amount of strength and attention for my legs. She took her time, especially with trimming and from there, it was all uphill. It's not only about aesthetics (though it's important to me)- it's also about hygiene, safety, and someone working up close and personal on your hands and feet. The $63 price tag is a bit more than what I used to spend, but honestly, it was worth it for the serene and relaxing atmosphere.
