After entering and paying our fee, we immediately found garden after garden of stunningly beautiful flowers. There's a circular flower bed garden surrounded by four matching quadrants with slice gardens and outer gardens with some really unusual plants. From there we went to an herb garden equally beautiful, down a trail past pond gardens, to a native garden and a naturalistic overview garden, and much more. The rose gardens and vegetable test bed gardens were equally attractive. Kids will like a few of the fun sculptures and the walk and the gift shop.

We wanted to…read morecompare them to what we have back home in the Niagara Region so we did a quick check and found our best bet was Annapolis Highland Vineyards. This was a very different experience then we are used to at home but it was very enjoyable and the wines were quite nice. We arrived and drove up the long driveway up to the main building. Its a nice little house and there is a large barn right there as well where they make the wine. We were greeted and brought into the house which is the store and tasting room. It is very nice inside the store, they have all their wines displayed and available along the walls and a tasting bar in the corner. They told us about their vineyard, how they make their wines and how their climate, as apposed to ours in Niagara, affects they types of wines the can make. It was all very interesting and informative. After that we started the tasting and they took us on a delicious tour through their whites down though there heavy reds. As we tasted each wine we were given a short description of the wine and where its grapes and fruits came from (all local). We were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked them, specifically the fruit wines. In the end I bought 3 bottles; Chardonnay, Mosaic and Highland Maple. Norm wanted to buy a case but unfortunately there was no room in the car so he settled for 6 bottles including several Highland Rhubarb. We always love to visit vineyards and this was no exception. Tastings are free of their cider, wine and cellos and there's lots to try from dry to VERY sweet. While we prefer more dry ciders and wines, there are some interesting choices here for folks who aren't necessarily wine drinkers. If wine isn't really your thing, this is likely a good place to start your intro. Sweeter wines and ciders which will appeal to the novice. Their white wine was quite nice even though we're not white wine drinkers. It's very much like a Tidal Bay (Nova Scotia's flagship wine) and really good chilled. The rhubarb wine was surprisingly refreshing and nice on a hot summer day. The shop has lots of selection but the cider in plastic bottles was quite a turn off and in poor taste so we opted to have a glass each on the patio which has a great view but could use some work. Classier furniture and maybe some umbrellas would spruce the place up a bit. The staff was super friendly and the grounds are really peaceful. A little bonus is the owners have a decent selection of thrift items for a really great price throughout the shop. You can find some really unique dinner and glassware to bring home. Overall, this place has some really great potential but just needs a bit more attention. The yellow house on the hill is still a great spot to stop in and we'll be sure to check back again.

Literally on the side of the road, there is limited parking beside the red barn. A beautiful spot and one of Nova Scotia's oldest wineries. Take a tour and do the tastings (3 for $5 or $8 depending on which you choose). The wine here is really good and the views are absolutely breathtaking out back. This is a nice place to pack a picnic and enjoy the incredible landscape or take a romantic walk through the vineyard and enjoy the day. Worth the trip for the view and the wine!

Unfortunately, when you crack the door you are greeted by a dark, dingy 1980s decor, complete with deep teal paint, wildly floral burgundy wallpaper, and plastic patio tables with umbrella holes in the centres. We chose a table near the fireplace, one of three bright spots in the joint, despite the fact that it was lunchtime on Sunday. The remaining light emanated from a giant TV tuned to curling, and at the other end of the pub, the brightest glow leaked from the room containing the Video Lottery Terminals. It should have been a clue to us that the pub was nearly empty with the exception of that room. I took some heart in the fact that the sandwich board by the door advertised Propeller beer. I'm a huge fan of giving the benefit of the doubt and good beer is usually a good sign.. Our waitress was quick to provide our menus and ask for our drink orders. Troy ordered a Sprite and I asked for iced tea. She quickly returned with his Sprite, and a glass of water for me. The menu was extensive, however it quickly became obvious that most items were generic freezer fare. A page of "Asian Fusion" items and a page of Tex Mex items tempted me, but if there's one thing I've learned from experience, you stick with the safe and simple in a place like this. I chose the Haddie Tips with crispy fries and Troy had a burger with regular fries. If they'd had an all day breakfast I'd have chosen that as a safer option yet, but alas, they did not. When the meals arrived, the portions were a good size. Troy's burger was loaded with so much stuff it slid apart before it made it to the table. That may have been prevented if the chunks of iceberg lettuce had been replaced with a couple of leaves of romaine. His regular fries looked a lot like Macdonald's. The patty, at least, appeared homemade. My fries were also from a freezer, and if you know anything about me you'll know that I'm of the firm belief that restaurants have no business serving frozen fries. If you value your customers, take the time to cut the potatoes yourself. I'm not sure if my haddock was fresh or frozen. The fish itself was reasonably fresh, but the breaded coating was reminiscent of Captain Highliner's finest. Troy finished his meal with a slice of chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. I had one bite but quickly determined it wasn't tasty enough to warrant the calories. Troy, who lives for sweets, was also underwhelmed. I love pub food when it's done well. Unfortunately there was nothing about the End of the Line Pub that made me want to go back. Between the uninviting atmosphere and the plain Jane food, it's a better place to go nurse a hangover with grease than a spot to enjoy a meal with friends.
