At first glance it appears that this is just a tourist stop and yet one is truly stepping into so…read moremuch history from centuries ago to WW II at the Jamaican Inn. Strongly recommended no, matter if staying overnight or just stopping by that all take in the museum and tge grounds where the notorious and the highest esteemed once treaded. Put your feet into their footprints , you will not be sorry.

We enjoyed going round the museum (very good; watch the film too...), farm shop and of course not to forget the souvenir place Great breakfast! Very quiet, despite the proximity of the main road below; a nice big room and a good sized bathroom for once...very comfortable indeed But its a generous 4*, as we were not enamoured with dinner - we both chose the curry special but unfortunately it was rather dull and, in particular, were not best pleased with the wine bottle being put on the table, unopened, and with wine glasses dripping wet from the dishwasher (and not actually clean after that experience) which the barman didn't think was an issue...Bridie tried her best to sort it out but it wasn't down to her or the waiting staff...that rather dampened the evening and experience...The Jamaica Inn own survey doesn't give space to elaborate... But the breakfast was fine and all in all, with the 1 exception, it was a decent place to stay and good value for money...the views all around are spectacular...and the Alpaca Trekking / cats / meerkats place a few miles away is a-maz-ing and a must

Not a very "Bad Boy"…read more.... Whilst being on holiday last weekend, we discovered this place as our chosen pub was fully booked.... We arrived and were greeted by the barmaids who offered to take our drinks order before escorting us to our table. Our table was located on a stage which was a novelty. Each table is equipped with a X factor style buzzer which you could summon wait staff to provide you with more drinks, take your food order or get the bill. The menu is fairly large and has a good selection of options similar to any Harvester. All the meat is provided by the local town butchers which is always good. My girlfriend went for the Hawaiian Burger (Burger with melted cheese and pineapple ring).I decided I needed to go for something more challenging..... The White Horse Big Boy (2 burgers, melted cheese, pineapple ring and 2 rashers of bacon). I was initially quite impressed with my burger but after eating about half of it, it became a bit of a struggle as it came quite samey. If I was going to improve it I would add some kind of sauce or relish but that's my opinion. All the food was freshly cooked and hot. The desserts looked very nice and were displayed in a revolving glass cabinet. If I was in the area, I would maybe dine there again.

Often go to the White a Horse for a carvery and its the nicest one we've had locally. Other food on…read morethe menu is delicious too, friendly service and nice clean pub.
