I have come here about ten times after moving to Alexandria and this place is a solid C+. What I do not understand is why they do not list the prices on the dry cleaning ticket. This is the only place I have ever been to that does NOT list the price you will be paying once you pick up the garments. Kind of Strange. Second they do not accept American Express which is ok but still inconvenient for some. The dry cleaning is fairly well but the tailoring could be improved. Overall not a bad place at all. I would not recommend this cleaners to anyone. I brought in a garment that they had altered only six months ago because the original repair did not hold up. From the moment I dropped it off, the woman assisting me was rude, rushed, and visibly annoyed. What stood out most was how quickly her attitude shifted when two customers who were not people of color walked in. The difference in treatment was hard to ignore. Despite my discomfort, I still left my romper for what should have been a simple sewing repair. We even safety pinned the exact area needing alteration, and I provided my full name and phone number. Three weeks later, I returned to pick it up only to be told that my information and alteration request were never saved. I was confused by this information since I watched her "entering my details" while present. The only reason he was even able to locate my garment was because I found my ticket and provided the ticket number myself. The seamstress/owner then stated they had no record of what needed to be done, and no one ever contacted me during the entire three weeks they had my garment. The employee who originally helped me claimed she "didn't know" what the request was, despite pinning the exact area herself and my asking her to have the seamstress call me with the estimated price. The entire situation was unprofessional, dismissive, and honestly upsetting. Based on the rude treatment, lack of accountability, and complete disregard for my time and belongings, I genuinely left feeling that prejudice played a role in how I was treated. To make matters worse, the person assisting me at pickup showed no concern whatsoever when I expressed my frustration. I had a horrible experience with alterations at King's Cleaners. I had a very expensive designer dress that needed to be taken in under the arms. The dress was constructed with two seams running down the side of the dress. Rather than take in each seam, King's Cleaners created a new seam that only ran about 8 inches down the side and ended in a big pucker. The dress was unwearable. I returned to complain and was told it would be fixed and to pick it up on Tuesday. I returned on Tuesday and was told the dress wasn't ready because the alterations person "was on vacation." I was leaving town the next day for a wedding to which I had planned to wear the dress. I DO NOT RECOMMEND KING'S CLEANERS FOR ALTERATIONS. read more

It was returned to me with a permanent stain that I noticed immediately once I returned home and took them out of the plastic bag. When I returned and showed them the stain and asked if they could get it out, the guy immediately started yelling at me saying that I didn't trust him-as if asking them to help get a stain out of a brand new pair of pants that didn't exist before I dropped them off was such a personal affront to this guy. Inside clothes sre thrown everywhere and they have an old school cash register (think large calculator with cash drawer) to tell you what kind of technology and shop they're working with. I wasn't super impressed with my dry clean and there were white streaks on multiple dark colored pants- removable with water... but it still shouldn't be there... good luck. I went here for an alteration of a bridesmaid gown. The store front is very unassuming and the interior looks like your typical cleaners. I was cheerfully greeted by the man working there who seemed to be very busy. I was impressed that he took the time to say hi as soon as I walked in the door. I dropped my dress off and came to pick it up 6 days later. The dress was flawless and it only cost $22!!! Unbelievable. I would absolutely suggest this place for alterations. I have never had anything cleaned here, however, so I can't speak to that. read more

I was looking for a new dry cleaners so I took identical shirts to two different cleaners. The shirt I took to Kings came back looking much better than the other and the price is very reasonable (about $1.50 per shirt). On my second drop off of cleaning the gentleman behind the counter remembered my name. I have now been to this cleaners three times. I am impressed with their service. read more

I am not an active reviewer and originally did not intent to publish this review. But I did not wish others to make my same mistake. I went to this dry cleaner asking if they could tailor my skirt which was slightly large for me. The owner said he has been doing this for years and knew what he is doing. When I picked up the skirt and tried it on, I was stunned to discover that such a nice designer skirt was totally ruined. I attempted to have it fixed by a professional tailor but they said there is no way to repair back to the original design because the badly tailored work. I took a skirt that needed altering, one of the requests being to take in the waist band. The tailor insisted that I didn't need to take it in, because HE thought it looked fine. I explained why it wasn't fitting properly and also told him the zipper needed a hook. When I went to pick the skirt up, I noticed that there was no hook put in. When I asked him to explain why, the tailor said that HE didn't think the zipper needed one. So then I asked him if he had worn the skirt and was planning to wear it again, he seemed to know a lot about how it fit. I insisted that he put the hook in, after which he informed me that he wouldn't charge me for putting it in. Really now? You won't charge me something you were supposed to have done in the first place? The cost was also ridiculous. $40 to hem and take in a waistband? Nah son! read more

I was extremely shocked that the owner, himself, was able to take out a black tar stain in my beige dress pants. I rarely complain but have to agree with others on here. I took one pair of pants to be hemmed on a Wed. afternoon he measured them and we decided on length. He asked for my phone number and name and when I would like to pick them up. I told him Saturday afternoon would be fine. I needed them for work on Monday. When I went to pick them up he couldn't find me in his computer system. I said it was just alterations and it took him several minutes over a few phone calls and he found the unhemmed pants. No work had been done on them. That's when he told me the seamstress had called out sick and to just leave them they would be ready on Monday afternoon for pick up. I told him they were uniform pants and I needed them on Monday, he said "You leave here"! That's when I said, "No I don't think I will." I told him, "That's why you have my phone number, you should have called me"! He just laughed..........Apparently they only use your phone number for their computer system. read more

This was my first time here and I am not happy at all. I took in a dress with a zipper that would close, but would open up. The dress is cheap, but it looks nice. This also means the zipper is cheap. If it looks nice, I'll buy it and fix it with better zippers. I went in on Thursday to change the zipper on the dress, I told the guy what was happening, and how the zipper worked. I told him it needed to be changed. Not fixed. I gave him my number and asked for it to be ready by Monday. I have this big event I host, and wanted to wear it then. I go in to pick it up, and he said there was no need to change it. That he "fixed" it. I was heated by this point. He assured me that it would be okay. I tried it on right there and then, and it it did the same thing! If I ask for something, do it! I don't care if it cost $100. I'll pay for it! I came to you, you said you'd get it done, and you didn't! I told him he should have called me if he was going to do something different than what I asked for! He said, "But I fixed it!" No you did not fix it! You didn't do anything to it! I asked for you to change it, and that's what you should have done. I will never be back here again. I dropped off my suite after wearing it to my meeting on Monday...without any damages and when I picked up my suit and came home I noticed the pants pocket was totally ripped. I immediately called the owner and told him what I discovered and he said that I dropped it off like that (without informing me) WHAT A SCAM!! Do not go here for alteractions!! I was charged $14 to hem a pair of jeans, after one wash the hem came completely undone on both legs.

If you are thinking of going to King's Cleaners I would advise you to think again. I brought a newly purchased gown in for a hemming. I picked it up the following week and once I got home I noticed several dime to quarter size spots/stains. When I came in and wanted to explain my situation the owner first laughed at me and then started yelling stating that I did not ask for the dress to be dry cleaned. I explained that while he was correct, when I left the dress with him, it was in perfect condition as it was just newly purchased. He yelled some more and I finally left, stained dress and all. I dropped off items for mending as well as dry cleaning. When I picked up the items and checked the buttons, but didn't realize that a sweater I also had mended was not included. I called the next day and told him about my missing sweater. He said to double-check and I did and no sweater. He claims he looked and that it was my responsibility when I picked up the items to realize that something was missing. He was very rude, shouted and was belligerent on the phone.
