Went in put my name on the board with 10 other peoples names and sat there for an hr which was expected, but the moment one of their friends walks through the door they let them jump right in skipping over everyone. They tried saying he had a appointment but one of the other barbers called him out for lying. Place is a dump that doesn't look like it's been cleaned in a decade. This place is LEGIT. I actually grew up in SYV but admit I have never been here before until recently. I moved out of the valley after HS and have been getting my hair cut at the same place in LA for 3+ years. BUT, I had a wedding in the valley and had my hair cut in LA the night before. There was a little area that wasn't quite right and so the morning of the wedding I called them and they squeezed me in. They were SLAMMED at 9am! Three barbers working and people waiting -- incredible. And I totally see why. These guys are the real deal. They cleaned up the messed up area (I have a cowlick in the back so it always is an issue) but then also took the fresh straight razor and cleaned up my part, beard line and around the ears. Best part, it was cheap as heck. I tipped the same as the cost of the cut because they got me in quickly and did an amazing job. I am a big believer on tipping on service/quality! I forget the guy who cut my hair but given it is the valley of course we had mutual people we knew and I think played football and my brother in law's bro was the coach as the HS at the time maybe? Finally made it to the best down home barber shop in the valley and have finally found my go to for all future cuts.

I was referred to Kings by a friend that is a stylist at a salon and I appreciated the recognition that barbers and stylists give very different cuts. For me a barber is preferential because I need mainly clippers on my crop. I also know that I can only get a good buzz if I can relate to the vibe in the shop. This shop crew a very mellow and no bs attitude and I felt very at ease there. Now for the cut, they nailed it. Gotta love when they can hear what you want and give it to ya... This is the real deal barber shop. These guys have skills. The only place I have been able to get a great looking haircut for my son who has an insane cowlick. I've tried salons, kids places, other barber shops from cheap to expensive. Kings is the only place we will go to moving forward. My son loves going here with the authentic barber shop vibe. Solid barbershop right in the heart of Solvang! Having moved up to the valley from the hustle and bustle metropolis of San Diego, it was ridiculously difficult to find a good barbershop. After getting my haircut by the the same barber for 4 years, I thought I was going to have to resort to getting rid of my hair all together since there weren't any capable barbers in town. WRONG. Decided to give Kings Barbershop, and I was not disappointed. Jay gave me a solid fade at a price that can't be beat. The vibe of the shop is very friendly and the cuts are quality. Wow, YES! I decided to give this place a try after recently moving to area and wanted to find a closer barber. I just wanted to clean up the sides and back while leaving the top long. I figure I'd be out of there rather quickly, but hoping he just wouldn't buzz right through it. He definitely did not, took his time and was very meticulous. There were several warnings signs about this shop. Ignoring them resulted in a mediocre haircut. The only fortunate outcome was the haircut cost $10 as they have a reduced rate period. Decided to give them a second chance. There were even more different warning signs. Ignoring them resulted in the WORST haircut I have ever experienced including the first haircut I received during military basic training. On top of this, the cost was close to double ($18) the cost of the first haircut. Should have never returned for the second and final haircut! read more
