Overall the haircut was pretty mid 3/5. The fade wasn't blended well and it looked like a military haircut so it definitely doesn't justify the $40 base price point. Where it becomes a 2/5 for me is how painful the actual haircut was, while he was 'fading' the sides he was just swinging the razor tugging and pulling my hair. I had an appointment with Kat this morning at 9am... at 8am I get a message from her telling me she can't be in at 9am she can cut my hair at 10am... then tells me no 1030 I agree to the new time of 1030 even though I booked 9:00am for a reason I didn't have much of a choice as I'm going out of town. I told her I wanted a bald fade , the sides square, and keep the length on the top in front and just bring the rest a little shorter. The side are not square, she took the fade too high and instead of fading up square curves in where my head naturally curves in. She also took length off the front which i asked her not to and barely took length off the back on the top. If you look one side of my beard is also about an inch lower than the other. And the worst part was how horribly uneven the top is. One side was about 1/2"-1" longer than the other side For no reason, I don't style my hair for any reason why that side should be longer than the other. To her credit she immediately agreed to a refund , but then proceeded to tell me it's perfectly even, that she could fix the sides to make them square (which can't be done now unless you're gonna glue hair back on!) Told me I should have asked for a beard fade in regards to her buzzing off my beard an inch lower than the other side. Horrible haircut. read more

The fade was so bad and left a clear distinction line at the temple. Everything was super uneven. I went to sports clip to have it fixed and even she said it looked rough. Pablo texts me in the evening on Thanksgiving to let me know he won't be able to make it into the shop the next day... along with calling me bro more times than I am even comfortable with since I've never met him. Per Pablo's request I book another appointment with another barber (Rico) the same day and time. I get the confirmation text and email. I walk over to the shop only to find out it's closed. Seems like this place is ran by unprofessional clowns who clearly can't manage a business in a day and age where technology makes it easier than ever. Ever since my "high and tight" military days (there's a helluva lot of humor in that statement: bwahahahaHA!), I've been a big fan of getting a zeroed out edge. Over the years I've increasingly shied away from that detail as very few barbers or stylists could do it well. BUT I checked out the photos of this place and noticed a good few photos matched what I've been missing. Long story shorter? I got a great haircut (short on top and tapered sides with a zeroed out line) and will be back. GOOD times. Best skin fade in Chicago! I've been getting my hair cut in a lot of places... Floyds, Gabby's, you name it. Most cuts I got were hit or miss. Also, no one knew how to do a fade, and if they did it cost extra. Luckily a buddy of mine recommended Jose over at Kings Barber Studio (formerly of Gabby's) and that guy know's what he's doing. I just got back from an appointment at Kings with Sal. Super chill and friendly guy. Awesome place, all the barbers are excellent and MY LORD do they do a fantastic job. My boys come for haircuts and our barber (don't want to give him away because I don't want you to take our spot!) Is amazing. The technique is AMAZING, the fades are perfect, and their customer service is OUTSTANDING. There is never a time that we walk in and don't feel welcomed. They fist bump my little and big, answer endless questions from my little, and have patience that never ends. There is a family atmosphere and it projects onto their clients.
