In August 2026, I had an oil/filter change and Smog check on my car at Freeport Automotive…read more Freeport Automotive does not perform Smog checks, but there's a business behind them that does, and Freeport Auto takes it over there and gets the Smog checks done. Everything was fine. About 10 days later, I had a bunch of error codes/messages flashing across my dashboard. So I called Dion and explained what was happening. He said to bring it in whenever I could, and he would take a look at it. I returned to Freeport Auto that afternoon and Dion was able to quickly identify and resolve the issue. He said it's possible that one of my sparks was going out, which caused the "Check Engine" code to flash. Dion said that error code more than likely triggered the other 5-6 error codes to flash. Dion was able to clear all the codes. His recommendation was for me to get a tune-up within 5 or 6 months. He said that even though I have very low mileage on my car, he recommended getting the tune-up. The spark plugs will be replaced at that time and I should not encounter that issue anymore. Such a relief! Thanks so much, Dion! I appreciate your calm demeanor and for quickly diagnosing and resolving my car issue and putting me at ease!

I do say he gets busy and there might be few days wait, depending on the service needed, but he always gives a breakdown of what work needs to be done and if it's more than what I expected he will tell me what is more of a priority to fix first. 5 Stars. That's all you really need to know... :-)…read more Marlon is the owner of this business. He used to work at the reputable "Mr. Auto Electric" for many years (I'm guessing 20-30+ years of industry experience) when it was owned and operated by the highly respected and late Mr. Herman De Ala and his loving wife Cris. Mr. Auto Electric had a motto: "When it's an easy job, our competitors gets it. When it's a hard job, our competitors bring it to us." This motto couldn't be more accurate since shops all around Sacramento like Pep Boys would bring and subsidize all their difficult jobs to Mr. Auto Electric and simply slap on the (i.e.) Pep Boy name after. And Marlon was a part of that dynamic team. After Mr. Auto Electric was changed ownership, Marlon went on to start his own business. Like the first review said, he's honest, competent, quick, and thorough. With competitive, fair market pricing at Marlon's Auto Services, Marlon is definitely the Five Star mechanic you should take your precious car to see. He's just what the doctor ordered. Marlon's Auto Services does lack a shuttle so you can either wait in the office's waiting room if it's a quick fix or you can arrange for a ride to pick you up if your car is experiencing some major and/or complex issues. This is because the shop is a one-man operation for now. Hopefully, word will spread out to the rest of the Greater Sacramento region that there is an honest-to-goodness honest and good automotive repair / service shop that anyone can rely on. Then, Marlon's business can expand with a larger facility and more employees so that the lack of shuttle no longer becomes an issue! =^_^= - Homer P.S. I left feeling very disappointed with the service I received…read more I brought my car in for its 100,000-mile preventative maintenance because I trust your technicians to recommend what my vehicle needs to remain safe and reliable. I followed the recommendations that were made, believing the necessary services were being performed. Unfortunately, after the service was completed, my car began shaking and wobbling significantly--something it was not doing before. I was then told that I would need to pay an additional charge for a wheel balance. At no point before the work was done was I informed that rotating the tires without balancing them could leave my vehicle driving worse than when I brought it in. Had that been explained, I would have made an informed decision at the time. Instead, I left with a vehicle that now drives poorly and an unexpected additional expense just to restore it to the condition it was in before the service. I understand that wheel balancing may be a separate service, but I believe clear communication is part of providing quality customer care. Preventative maintenance should not result in a customer leaving with a vehicle that performs worse unless they were clearly advised of the potential consequences beforehand. I'm not asking to be reimbursed for the maintenance or repairs that were completed. I'm simply asking that the wheel balance be performed as a courtesy to resolve an issue that arose immediately following the service. I've trusted your business for years, which is why this experience has been so disappointing. I hope you'll consider making this right and restoring my confidence in the level of service I've come to expect.
