I tend not to write reviews (maybe first on yelp) but I going to for this company. I did a lot of research for my Montreal to LA move and I found bad reviews of pretty much everyone. I ended up going with Kings Transfer for a few reasons (price was ok, but they always picked up the phone and asked the right questions) but was a little worried beacuse of their reviews on here. In the end, the move was near perfect. I packed myself but they did pickup transfer and delivery and everything arrived with only one small bowl broken. They were on top of everything and the movers were pilot on both ends. I would recommend. read more

We have had several long distance moves, and this move back from Montreal to the US was by far the very best we have had. We have had one- and two- star experiences with various moving companies in the past, so to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. But this experience was a pleasant surprise in every aspect. We were blown away by how organized the packers (Ron, Neil) were. They definitely knew what they were doing and how to best optimize the space in each box while keeping valuables intact. The guy in charge, Réal, was kickass. There is no other way to describe it, he ran the show and he was on top of everything. What I loved is that he was managing both the packing/loading and the unpacking/unloading at the final destination, so he was familiar with our belongings and how everything was organized. Kimberly in the office was a real sweetheart, and was extremely patient in dealing with us even when we didn't have many details of the move finalized (destination address, day of move, etc.) I chose Kings because they seemed to excel in customer service, and I was proven correct. They were not the cheapest quote I received (nor the most expensive) but I would gladly pay more for an impeccable move in which absolutely nothing went wrong. Just moved to Toronto from Montreal. This is not the first time using this company. I have always had great service from Kings, but I felt that I needed to make this one stand out. Everything has been a bit crazy with all of the COV-ID19 shutdowns & self distancing. I was supposed to be transferred to Oakville for a new position at the company I work for in March then all was put on hold. Next thing I know it is April, and they are are saying that they absolutely need me there right now. Highways were "closed". I had no idea when or how I was to get my things to our new condo, and staying at hotels was not really an option. I called King's, and explained my situation. Next thing I know they setup a truck ready to go in two days just for my apartment (only a 3 /12), and to deliver the end of the week! I was shocked that they were able to do this. The day the truck arrived, it was a bit surreal. The movers (Joe, Kevin, and Amanda) started getting things loaded in the truck, but they had the now familiar masks with gloves the entire time. I went out to the truck, and it smelled like a hospital room. Apparently they sprayed it all down the night before as part of their precautions. I know that this does not sound like a big deal, but at the time it actually really did. With the stress of everything plus all the unknowns it helped feel a bit more at ease. Everything was delivered at our place on Friday, and we had the weekend to unpack. I don't really know what else to say, but thank you! read more

Big mistake to move with them. Worst customer service. Irresponsible. They started by giving me a "very wrong" advice about number of movers required for my move. The movers started late, but were working fairly quickly until early afternoon when they became extremely tired. Things turned far too slow. At times only one mover carried a single box to the elevator and went up with an-almost empty elevator, and then go to take another. Extremely cumbersome experience. It finished after 10 hours!! while it could have been done in just a few hours if more movers were in place. When I called them the next business day to discuss the problem and their meaningless estimate and all the hassle they caused, they simply said it was not "their" fault and "I" should have asked for more movers. Probably they did not even listen to themselves how radicicols it sounds that the customer (with little experience) should do their job and make the headcount estimation and them (the so-called experts) just sit and sign the contract. Very frustrating experience and too much money paid that could easily be two third of the amount. To top it, the manager did not even care to return my three calls. No way you should repeat this frustration for yourselves ever. read more

Moved to the South Shore with King's after a friend recommended them. Very happy with the guys who handled our move. First part was from our old place in Montreal, and then later in the day they picked up the rest from the storage locker we rented. Was a huge relief to have everything all together at the new house. I have had bad experiences in the past with other companies, so the fact that things went so smoothly with no drama or confusion, even while dealing with all the construction detours in town, just made this that much more of a standout experience. Our move with King Transport was very disappointing, 3 of their 5 employees were very inexperienced young boys. They needed constant supervision and didn't know what they were doing. Most of the day, they waited to get instructions that slowed down the entire move and instead of taking a normal day, as we were told, to move a 4-bedroom house 15 minutes away; it took 15.5 hours. The move started at 8 am and ended at 11:30 pm. and since we were billed per hour, it ended up costing double of what it should of been. NO, I don't recommend for anyone to use King Transport they didn't deliver the quality of service as promised in the time frame as promised. My rating: Not acceptable! This company gave me nothing but problems, they failed to take what they said they were going to take, they damaged my oven, when i emailed the rep to inform her about my problems she did nothing but argue and make excuses, and kept trying to blame for and say my load was double than what it was suppose to be!! (it was not) The delivery driver Denys was however really nice. In Business its suppose to be the customer is always right!!! not in this case they will try and blame you for everything!! do yourself a favour and NEVER use Kings transfer van lines read more

Worst move ever. You don't expect brain surgeons but these guys are a motley crew. A couple of them actually scared me.. Broke a number of expensive items and generally scratched up and damaged a lot of stuff. throw a filing cabinet down on the sidewalk with no protection .. it gets scratched up. Likewise an expensive framed piece of artwork.. no wrapping or protection of any kind and I see it leaned up against the side of a building with the frame right on the sidewalk. I then asked that it be given some special care. that was a mistake as when I saw it next it was smashed... $2k tv broken.. etc etc. Final cost was twice the estimate... never again. I've moved a number of times both personally and commercially and this was by far the worst experience.. Trying to deal with the damage claims has been a slow disinterested standoff. read more

To be fair, moving with a company is probably always a chaotic and expensive ordeal. Still, I can't recommend King's Transfer to anyone, especially if you want clear and direct communication with the front office or between the front office and the movers. Regarding the front office: My initial phone conversation was very helpful and informative, and was the reason I opted for this company. Don't make the same mistake! Things went quickly downhill afterwards: one promise she made me turned out to be false (instead of charging me for the moving time from door to door, the contract she sent said I would be charged from door to door plus the truck's transportation time, which she then said couldn't be changed) and another required several days of renegotiation (she claimed that she had confirmed that my deposit would be refunded if the company was unavailable on my moving day, but this apparently required another confirmation for several days after the contract was written). When we finally resolved these issues, I signed the contract and made my deposit, but didn't receive any confirmation from the company until I followed up with them several weeks later. As my moving date approached, I asked (three times) how big the truck was and suggested I tell them about the size of the apartment and the amount of stuff we planned to move, but they never answered these. Finally, the front office never mentioned that I would have to pay the movers in cash when the job was done, and so after a long day of work I had to waste everybody's time as I ran to the nearest ATM to pay the guys. Regarding the movers: As I feared, the movers were shocked to learn that my apartment was on the 3rd floor and to see how much stuff I had (since nobody had asked me or visited). They were incredibly strong and helpful in general, and very nice guys, but one of them in particular was largely unable to deal with stairs. As such, he spent about half an hour (of billed time) trying to convince me to hire another mover, but I hadn't planned to pay an extra man and so I dissuaded him. Again, the movers were very helpful, especially with the big things that were too heavy for me and my girlfriend, but I also don't understand why this man was sent to a 3rd-floor move, or why a 55-year-old and a 63-year-old were assigned to the same move. Wouldn't it be much more efficient to have a younger mover paired up with an older one? The move took much longer than I expected, and though my estimate might have been unfair I can't help but wonder how long it would have taken younger movers to do. Ultimately, the movers were very helpful and nothing was broken in the move (just a few tiny scratches/dents), so the move was, in that sense, successful. Still, I was very unimpressed with the front office, including their assignment of the movers for this job, and I paid much, much more than I expected to for the experience, so I discourage you from using King's Transfer. read more

I used King's Transfer Van Lines for a move from Toronto, ON, Canada to Kirkland, WA, USA. It was a nightmare dealing with them and probably the worst and most stressful part of my move. In hindsight, I wish I would have picked a different mover or better yet gotten a U-Haul and moved the stuff myself. Here is a summary of what happened: - I contacted Atlas for my move from Toronto, ON, Canada to Kirkland, WA, USA. They forwarded my request to many moving companies in the area. Among others, I received a call from King's Transfer Van Lines Inc., who sent Ron Proudfoot to review the weight and provide an estimate for the move. He was professional and conducted the review very well. Due to his professionalism, I decided to go ahead with King's Transfer Van Lines Inc. - My stuff was picked up on time and the service was great up until that point. I was convinced my stuff will be delivered within the promised window; possibly even sooner. - I contacted King's Transfer Van Lines Inc. about two weeks later requesting an update for the move and I was told that my stuff must be on their way and the receptionist will check with dispatch and get back to me with the exact date / time of delivery. The receptionist did not call back. - My stuff was mistakenly stored in their warehouse for about two weeks after pickup and up my numerous calls about the status, they kept saying it is on it's way and will be delivered. The normal communication process was something like this: I'd call and request a status update and they'd say they need to speak with dispatch, who is not currently available. They promise to call back as soon as they have an answer but never, ever called back. They had no regard for me as a customer, who was now living in a new place in a new country with absolutely no furniture. - Since I was getting nowhere with King's Transfer Van Lines, I contacted Atlas directly, who worked with them and got my stuff moving. If it wasn't for them, I probably wouldn't have received my goods anywhere near the delivery date. King's Transfer Van Lines is a extremely poorly managed company and I'd highly recommend steering clear of them. If it wasn't for the intervention from Atlas, I probably would have sued these guys for the inconvenience they caused me. read more

My boyfriend and I used King's Transfer Van Lines for a move from Montreal to Maryland in 2013. Why did I wait so long before writing a review, you ask? Well, we are now going through another long distance move and it reminded me about our "Meh" experience with them. I contacted a few moving companies before making a decision. King's Transfer were certainly not the cheapest, but they had been recommended to me by an acquaintance who had moved from Montreal to New York a year prior. The initial visit for an estimate went well and the representative did a good job. We lived in a one bedroom condo and our weight was estimated at around 2000 lbs, which was the minimum value for a long distance move (in other words, if you have 1000 lbs of stuff, they will still charge you for 2000 lbs). The estimate was around 2600$ and this is exactly what we ended up paying. It's the follow-up after the initial visit that didn't go so well. Communication with King's Transfer and our representative was just painful. It was extremely difficult to reach anyone by phone, ever, and get answers to my numerous questions. Let me say the movers were great, though. I have absolutely no complaint about them. They were quick and careful. We were lucky to live on a large boulevard where they could park their Atlas van (the large one, not the shuttle), so it definitely facilitated the experience. After this point, it was impossible to get any kind of update from King's Transfer. The van left a few days later than was originally planned, which created a delay in Maryland (obviously). On the other hand, our furniture wasn't damaged during the move. Clearly, our experience wasn't as bad as everyone else below, but it was still very stressful due to the lack of communication. And now that we're moving once more, it is, yet again, such a stressful experience that I'm wondering if it's even possible to find a reliable moving company... read more

I did a long distance move from Manitoba to New Brunswick. Booking the move was great. The guy in sales was very professional and courteous. Said my items would arrive between June 6th and June 21st. The guys who loaded my stuff were professional, they tagged it, gave me papers. I was notified on June 8th that my items were in their warehouse in Wpg and that the driver would be in touch a day or two before my items would be dropped off. Then communication broke down. June 21st came and went. The guy in operations did not respond to my emails and when he answered his phone he was not aware of my contacting him. Called the next Monday and he had no idea where my stuff was. At least an hour later he told me my items were 2.5 hrs away in a nearby city, that there was trouble with the truck, or something, I was very unclear on what was happening. He told me that my items wouldn't be arriving that day, but that the driver would call me when he was coming. I emailed again my complaints on that Friday before the long weekend as I had received no word from the driver and called the next Tuesday. Again hadn't checked his email and he said he'd be in touch with the driver and get back to me. Two hours later I left a message on his answering machine because he'd still not been gotten back to me. At 7pm I was contacted by, I'm assuming, someone in HR in Ontario apologizing for the mishap (which I appreciated) and she said she'd send me an email with information. I never got it and was no contacted by her again but I was called by KTVL sister company Premiere Van Lines, and she told me my stuff had been on their property since the 19th. Long of the short I got my stuff and the men loading and unloading my belonging were great. Management is sorely lacking in communication skills. They were two weeks late with my items and because of that I pointlessly paid for a storage unit for the month of June. I also did not know that my items would be transferred from one van to another. I've moved two times before this and I am very unimpressed. I would never recommend anyone use this company or any company they were affiliated with. read more

Worst moves 2 times with these people. From Calgary to Hamilton, organized by Montreal office to go through Burlington office, the driver refused to off load at our apartment first, taking everything to storage. They destroyed our custom king sized bed, left everything in tatters, never completed move. We were promised when we moved again, they would make up for it. A year later, back Hamilton to Calgary, they were unable to fix bed, left it in our new place in a pile, never moved the boxes from the living room, our sports work out equipment was destroyed, evaluated for insurance, but they never filed it or paid us. Repeated calls, ignored by them, never use this company, not in Quebec, not in Ontario, they cost me thousands. read more

After reading the reviews I was skeptical about using Kings for my move but decided to give them a shot given my timing. From the start I was treated with respect and was given a lot of info about the whole moving process. The day of the move was hectic enough so when the movers arrived I was pleased to say they released my worries and were amazingly helpful. The driver Merv was a great man and took charge to make sure everything was perfect. Nothing was damaged and they were done sooner than I anticipated. I had a great experience with this company from start to finish. They were very accommodating with my crazy schedule. The sales rep kyle was very friendly and quite accurate.My move pricing was based upon the weight of my shipment and he ended up being within a hundred pounds of his estimate BRAVO! Do not use this moving company. The experience was costly and horrible. And I am not one to complain - I rejoined Yelp just so I could post this review and scare people away from this moving company. The story: All began well, with a nice visit from a kindly and personable surveyor. I chose to purchase parking permits from the city, which were put up the night before. Unbeknownst to me, however, my neighbor had hired a roofing company for the same area and the same day, at the same time (7am). So I came home in the morning to see that my street was blocked. As soon as I noticed this, I called King's and notified them. The movers arrived, however, and started yelling at me, blaming me for this imposition, when it was clearly not my fault. They actually used the phrase, "your street, your problem," as if I had ordered the roofers to block the street and somehow not informed King's. Then the movers said that 1) I had been underquoted, which "always happened," 2) I would need another person (i.e., another several hundred dollars), and 3) I would pay for their extra time and labor in coming out for naught. I knew that I did not have enough stuff to warrant three men. This was so distasteful to me that I considered canceling right then and there, yet I had no other time to move, so I decided to go ahead with it and see if they would return later that day. Indeed, that worked out (different guys working for the same mover, 2 men working 2 hours, as I'd said). Eventually, after many phone calls with Luciano - to which he can attest - I managed to argue my way out of the extra fee by threatening to back out of the move with King's. The rest of the move proceeded late but according to plan, and I will say only the best things about Qasim and his partner, Turkish Uighurs who were kind and efficient and really deserve 100% of my money, not what I assume is their measly cut. I did end up paying closer to $1000 than the $600 I was quoted. But then, when I followed up with King's (for example, telling them that I should not pay for the parking permits, which turned out to be useless), they sent me an email that blamed me for the entire thing and informed me that their gentle suggestion to add a mover was meant to "help" me. Thank you, King's, for trying to "help" me part with more money, but anyone could have told you that I did not have that much stuff, and that two people handled it perfectly well and were barely breaking a sweat. Moreover, I take offense at the idea that I just stupidly sat around and watched my neighbor block my street. In fact, King's did little to attempt to negotiate with the roofing company, while I was out in the street talking with the police about the situation that very morning. Kings's response indicates that they think that I would knowingly engineer this situation, and that they are more interested in their pride, or something, than in trying to resolve a situation that was unpleasant for the client. This is just bad business sense, in my opinion. Anyhow, all this is to say that their snide and defensive tone, and their unwillingness to give me even the shadow of the benefit of the doubt, means that I will not be recommending them to friends undertaking moves. I appreciate that they've been around for 93 years, but perhaps an old dog needs to learn some new tricks, like how to please a customer. read more

Never again! I was promised the moon - efficiency and care - for my inter-provincial move. Instead, after the delivery date passed and I called, the company put out a search for my belongings. When the movers arrived yet another day late, I was blamed for not knowing I was supposed to call the company ahead of time to provide them with the dimensions of my apartment building parking area - so that the need for a smaller truck became my fault! I was charged an extra amount of $335 for the smaller shuttle. Broken and chipped antique furniture, glass, kitchen dishes and missing chairs required the further intervention of a respectful investigator and was paid for by the company. Still, the agent in Montreal assured me I was entrusting my move to the best possible hands. When it was all over and I called to complain, he said that once my stock left Montreal, he had no idea where it went - and was no longer responsible for it. I wish he'd said that at the beginning! A huge disappointment and great expense that could have been avoided. Live and learn. read more

I moved from Montreal to Scarborough and found king's to be very professional and helpful during the whole move. When I had questions or problems, my rep was right there to help me! I had some concerns when they were loading, and the driver was helpful and knowledgeable (and when he didn't know, he asked!). Overall, I would move with them again in a heart beat. I just spoke with someone from their office on the phone for an estimate, based on information I gave online. I got an estimated price for my move and we were basically done talking, when I mentioned that I had other better estimates so would probably not be using them. The person on the phone then started telling me those estimates were probably off and I shouldn't deal with those other companies because they never sent anyone to my place to see my stuff before giving me the estimate, so it's probably a scam. I reply "well you didn't either, so how is that different?" So he says he would like to send someone over to get a better sense of what I have so he can give me a better estimate, and continues to tell me how the other companies are all hacks (not that he even knows their names, *everyone else* is apparently a hack). I say that's an interesting change of tune that only happened because I mentioned these other companies. He goes on to tell me I sound "cold", also blames me for not answering his calls earlier in the week (made at inconvenient times). He repeats that I sound cold and I should be nice to people on the phone. I guess he realized I was not going to use their service and decided it would be a good time to educate a woman about her proper place. Seriously?? Imagine saying that to a man. Definitely not using this company. read more
