Im…read moredocking 2 stars for the items that they broke and or damaged (a bannister loose off the wall, wall corner chipped off, our bed main beam snapped in two (they insist it wasn't them but my cleaning lady didn't mention it and they dismantled the bed), scratched photo frame they tossed into a wardrobe box, scratched brand new $1200 desk chair that I had paid $200 for white glove handling to ship to me... snapped the metal frame to one of my lampshades... Who knows what else. Also, although the legs to a small wood desk arrived intact it's worth noting that they threw them into a grocery bag. OH, and they took my desktop computer with my files on it, which was supposed to go with me in my car down to the truck unprotected. I think that they could have been more sensitive to what is valuable to me. I keep an eye on my computer because it has on it my family pictures so it's invaluable. I'm docking 1 star for Debbie. She should be on a TAPED line, ASAP. She also insisted on giving us their smallest truck which would have been too small. And our stuff would have stockpiled to the ceiling IF and big IF it fit. Then telling us that's all they had left. Fortunately, she 'managed' to switch things around but we had a last minute scare that the move was off for the day we planned. She said a lot of weird stuff on the phone. For example, she called me a liar when I accidentally told her that my 3 book shelves were 10 feet high. They are 8 feet high but the ceiling in our apartment was 10. WHO says to that -- well which is it? I can't help you if you LIE to me. Im docking 1 star for the cheeky Russian or Ukrainian guy who appeared to be in charge. He kept insisting that nothing was their fault up to and including snapping my lamp frame back into place and repeating "NOT BROKEN." This really happened. I brought the issue of more care up maybe 3 times THEN I raised my voice. He promptly said he was CALLING THE POLICE. Then, he said he was going to DRIVE AWAY WITH MY FURNITURE in the truck and spend the night at a hotel. But then he called the supervisor duty (ALL OF THIS IN RUSSIAN - THE WHOLE CREW WAS RUSSIAN/ UKRAINIAN) and they demanded payment, which was fine. We were supposed to pay after we knew hours worked and final tip....Needless to say - there was no tip. I'm docking 1 star because we never heard from Anber again. I'm adding one star because their crew Ukrainian of men were strong, and they worked hard and quickly. Also, Grant at the company is fine to deal with. He's the estimator. He gives a professional appearance to the whole operation but after that it's like Debbie, cheeky stocky Russian guy... So that's one star. We also had some miscommunication about meeting up after they crossed into the US from Canada with their truck. They had been supposed to call us after they crossed but they only called once they were already at the house. We were following separately in our car which we had to export. We also couldn't reach them on the number they had given us. And, then we had to ask the real estate agent as a courtesy to drive over to the house and give them a key. I would not use this company again or recommend to others.

They lost some of our valuables, sent some stuff to the wrong city, and took ZERO responsibility. To call it a dispointment would be an understatement. ABF made an empty semi trailer available to me within 72 hours of my commitment, and then even allowed me to delay the delivery of the trailer within 24h before the delivery. They also allowed me ample time to load and then to simply call them hours before the cab came to pick up the trailer. Note that our driveway in Montreal was able to accommodate the 28ft trailer. In DC I needed to buy a $55 temporary parking permit for street parking. Although my goods arrived at the ABF warehouse in Maryland within two days, ABF held the trailer for another five days until I was ready to receive them. Key, I think, is to get the local dispatcher's contact info to help coordinate logistics directly, cause your otherwise dealing only with the national call center, which are really helpful, but can only get you so far. ABF was courteous, very flexible, reasonably priced, helpful, and very quick to get my goods delivered Stateside. This is the way to go as long as you are willing to pack everything yourself (and take responsibility for your own packing).

So recently, we hired these guys to help us move since they seemed witty and pretty genuine. What a mistake! Bottom line: they were not careful with our things and caused hundreds of dollars in damage. We discovered quite a few damaged boxed but the coup de resistance was a smashed 40" television. When we called to point this out they said "too bad" and that it's all part of the risk of hiring movers! When we tried to argue with them they had the audacity to suggest that we smashed our TV before the move and planned to frame the movers for damage all along! As a final word of warning against us, they said that if we try to take them to small claims court it would be their word versus ours and there are more of them than us so good luck! When we dug a little deeper, it became clear that these guys are neither a legitimate business nor are they insured - which means when they damage something, they wash their hands and walk! Plus, we noticed that in the fine print of their contract they claim that they are not responsible for damages - in particular televisions, which suggests that they have a track record of breaking electronics. If you value your things, don't hire these guys. Get some reputable movers.
