No one checked if food was ok. No one around to tell as all running round like headless chickens. All customers in restaurant were complaining. The poor servers and bar staff were doing their best but not enough of them, heard one of the staff saying only one cook in kitchen. All other customers couldn't believe that we couldn't get a refund. Such a shame as could be such a good restaurant if they could get the staffing and management right. No offer of bread or free drinks to out us on as they 'weren't authorised' to do so. Never again!

I used to live close by before moving on a few years ago, but still try to make a point of finding time to stop for a meal if I'm passing by or in the area. The food is superb - I really cant praise it highly enough. The menus are a little bit more distinctive than your standard bar fare, and so can be a bit more pricey, but its well worth the small extra you'll pay. Of an evening the lights are dimmed and the candles are lit which adds a real intimate atmosphere to the place. Service - both at the bar and tableside - is always quick and effiecient and meals never seem to take long to prepare. There are a wide assortment of drinks to choose from to meet everyones tastes. Function/conference rooms are available too if thats what you're looking for. The Red Lion also seems to do a decent wedding trade and its rare for a weekend to pass without seeing some kind of bridal party in the car park at some point. Recommended - especially for the food.

But have learned some…read moredisturbing news, the land lord is leaving on the 5th of Jan for pastures new, also the flaming grill franchise which the belfry is, has been taken over by the hungry hoarse franchise, am afraid the hungry hoarse franchise is about money, whereas the Belfry are very family oriented and look after their patrons with excellent service and excellent food.
