The pub is convenient for the city centre and plenty of free parking to the rear and side (only access). Do not expect the finery of a brassiere for the place is a typical sport orientated pub; however it is clean well managed and a friendly atmosphere. It is perfect for a lunch time meal or as in my case a meal before visiting the theatre. Cash only.

The beers were really good, those from their own brewery (including a green coloured ale) and the guests. The food is worth recommending too we managed to eat here once in the evening, as well as devouring a couple of breakfasts (you can actually get a beer with breakfast if you are man mad enough) 6 rooms, watch out for the haunted toilet in room 3!

There's a great selection of beers brewed at the on-site Crown micro-brewery (including stout) and there are also some 'proper' Continental lagers on tap. The main drinking area is plainly furnished with lots of bare wood and the conservatory at the rear is a winner with great views along the Don Valley. Staff are pleasant and knowledgeable and there's also food and B&B accommodation, although we haven't tried either of these so can't comment on them.

Their best bet has to be the carvery at £7.45. Three choices of meat accompanied by mega Yorkshires and loads and loads of different veg. They also have a two meals for £7.95 menu which represents very good value. I've never had a bad meal there myself. When the weather is decent they have a large play area with a brilliant climbing frame and plenty of seating for the doting parents. If you say you are going to sit out there the staff will give you your drinks in plastic 'glasses' to avoid the possibility of broken glass in this area. They also have a decent sized function room for hire. There is plenty of car parking but at busy times on warm days even that can get full. You don't book, you just turn up and wait for a free table.

The staff are always friendly even on the rare occasion that you have a complaint, the decor is beautifully done and clean. The waiting times for food is reasonable and, if anything on the shorter end of the scale for a place like this. This is one of those places which is ideal for taking a family for a meal or just a partner on a date.

There is probably not another resturant like this one in Sheffield. The food has been improved but the real attraction is the atmosphere. I highly recommend trying this place out! Also parking is very plentiful!
