Complimentary hummus was included. My husband and I shared the Vegetable Orzo ($17) as our main. It was rich and delicious. We tried the Ekmek ($11) for dessert. It's a bit pricey for just a casual meal in the region, but the dishes are a little more elevated and unique.

The owner was in the restaurant and I had a quick conversation with him. The atmosphere is honestly what kept me in there. They have the option to sit outside or dine inside and I opted to dine inside. The decor on the walls is lovely and the traditional music that they play inside is also nice. Will definitely be back.

The meat was really thick and I was excited to bite into it. It looked delicious. It was... juicy. It dripped when I bit into it like a smash burger. It was the consistency of a mushy meatloaf. I could only get one bite down and had to throw it away. I can't even describe the taste because I just wanted it out of my mouth. I have never eaten here. I don't know if this is a one time thing or they are prepared like that every time. Maybe the meat wasn't mixed properly or cooked long enough. I hope it was a one off problem. I won't be taking a chance and ordering again though. I wish them well.

King Gyros in Mishiwaka, Indiana is a mile away from my boyfriend's house (yes, we are long…read moredistance) and is this area's version of "somewhat interesting" drunk food. Good food, cheap, and fast with a 60/40 focus on quantity vs. quality. For the hungover, binge eaters among us, King Gyros is heaven on Earth. Like me, most people were there getting carryout. And like similar places, the portions are huge and the menu is overwhelming. Inside, it is a bit messy, old, and similar to a fast food restaurant that hasn't been updated in 20 years. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I got the Gyro platter for a Friday lunch for less than $15 with tax and tip. They are very generous with their fries, but they needed some seasoning to make them more interesting. The gyro meat was decent, the veggies were fresh, and the employees were efficient, although not incredibly helpful. Overall, this local fave got me really full with pretty decent food. I'd come back but order something smaller next time.

In general, I know the salads are usually large and I don't eat it all so I went ahead and got it in a to-go container. Even being lunchtime the salad came out very fast. I told my wife it must be that good but as we were trying to get to the door, somebody dropped their window and said you can't go in. It's closed. You can only get it drive-through. This is quite disappointing because the place actually looks like a walk-in fast food type restaurant. Given that we were traveling from out of town and needed to use the facility with our meal we had to decide to eat elsewhere. So unfortunately, I can't rate the food but I can rate the disappointing experience of just not being able to go in and have a meal.
