This is my first review and I'm honored to write one for such a great company . One afternoon, I was walking my dog down the street in my power wheelchair. I was admiring a nearby neighbor's fence. I saw they were outside working on their yard and decided to roll on by to pay them a compliment and inquire about where they got their fence. To my pleasant surprise , it turned out my neighbor Eddie was the owner of King's Gates and had installed it himself! He was such a kind man and I decided to ask for his card just in case. Months later it turned out that our privacy hedge and fence was ripped out, leaving our whole backyard exposed and unsafe. We were in desperate need of a wall/fence . Thank God I had kept his card and immediately called Eddie. He remembered me and was happy to come down to look and give me a honest quote . He is such a friendly man with a professional personality. He made us feel comfortable and taken care of. He really took the time to get an idea of our needs and what we wanted in our design . He was patient with our questions and addressed any concerns during the process with reassurance. We really appreciated that kind of communication and customer service from this family run business. He and his hardworking team were on time , professional and got the job done in 1 day with a few tweaks the next day due to heavy rains that they had worked thru the day before . The fence game out beautifully and they nailed the modern Spanish aesthetics we wanted. The workmanship was quality and design well thought out. King Custom Gates, I found on Craigslist. So I contacted him off Craigslist. Eddie mentioned to find him on Yelp, for a larger selection of photos, and reviews. I texted Eddie about an entry gate, gate prices, dimensions, and pics. We talked,texted about my existing wood entry gate, and his "entry gates", which would add value, beautify to our home. We spoke over the cell about what was in stock. We settled on an entry gate , and a time to pick-up the in stock entry gate. We live close to 3.5 hours away,7 hours round trip! The gate we chose, iron,with wood. The entry gate is beautiful,well made,professionally constructed. We installed the entry gate, the rails , the stopper,the dead bolt, the knob/handle,..ALL with Eddie's included parts, guidance,and encouragement over the cell. My neighbors across the street recently had all of their gates replaced by King Custom Gates (KCG). The workmanship looked amazing and my neighbor had nothing but praise for the KCG crew. Based off of that I decided to give them a call and requested a quote. Eddie from KCG came out to my house and took notes on all of the items I needed (2 doors,1 big double door gate, and 70' of fence topper). The existing ironwork on my home was very old and ornate; from the 70s. I needed it all replaced but the new ironwork had to very closely match the old stuff. Eddie took measurements, drew up a few sketches of the design, and had a quote back to me about a week later. All of the pieces I needed were fabricated in house by the KCG crew. Proof of how talented these guys are is demonstrated in the photo, which I've attached in this review, that they provided me mid-way through the fabrication process. All of those circular decorative pieces, those little pointy arrows at the top....all made by hand. Piece by piece and assembled to make 70'. Yes, 70 feet! These guys are very good at what they do. Installation day was exciting. KCG brought out a small army of people to get the job done. You can tell these guys take a lot of pride in their work. No shortcuts were taken, the job was done right and my home looks amazing. These doors and the fence topper are very solid. Heavy duty hinges, quality powder coating on each piece, and a beautiful grey color mesh backing on my doors to make the design really pop from the curb (great idea, Eddie) are all reason why I recommend KCG. I needed 3 gates in my home: 2 "side" gates and one double gate for my driveway. I went to his shop where he was able to show me samples of different types, designs, sandblast, etc. A few days later he came to measure at my house, and about a week and a half later he showed up to install. He got all 3 gates installed in about 6 hours! I had wooden gates that my dog would always destroy when fireworks freaked him out. I love my new gates and we're very happy with the result. Met them when they were installing my neighbor's fence. Didn't end up calling them until more than a year later. Said he would call me back but didn't. Tried calling them again a few weeks later & he said that he would call me back. He did call me back said that he remembered me but told me the quote he gave me over a year ago was no longer valid. He replaced a small side gate with a taller one with guard rails for security and privacy, created a new side gate with 2 panels & door, and lastly replaced broken rails for the electrical box....so 3 jobs in all. Some of the fabrication and customization was done onsite and because of necessity tweaks to the design based on the landscape, it added unanticipated costs. Found this place by mistake driving around during my workday. What a gem. Had already received a couple different estimates, one for vinyl and the other for a fence of similar construction. King's prices were very comparable and even undercut one of our previous estimates. Edgar and his wife run a small operation, but don't let that scare you off. They are very customer service oriented. From the estimate to keeping us informed of the progress during the build to scheduling the install date, Edgar was always accessible and responsive. On the day of the install, it was literally the hottest day of the year thus far. Edgar and his crew showed up early to beat the heat. Our house has had an automatic wrought iron gate for some time that gives the felines protection from roaming coyotes, keeps the puppy from touring the neighborhood and gives us a general sense of well being. A week ago the gate malfunctioned just as I was backing up the car and the results were a kinked gate that wouldn't close on its own and a dent in the car fender. Not a good situation - especially the now not-working gate. It took me about 20 minutes on yelp.com to zero in on King Custom Gates. Eddie Martinez and his brother Omar arrived on late morning Friday, assessed the problem, gave me a price, took detailed measurements that included a special small cut out for the felines, and put our "case" on a fast track. I wanted a major change from wrought iron and after looking at Eddie's portfolio of gates, I selected a stunning wood/metal gate. Eddie explained that that gate construction involved a few processes (preparation) that had to be done in a certain order and involved different time frames - but he said they would move heaven and earth to get the gate done in record time. Meanwhile I kept watching the weather reports: to do the installation the King crew (Eddie, Omar and Andrew) had to use electric power: no can do in the rain or probably even if the ground is wet. Ten days later the King crew backed into our driveway with our gate and smaller side piece on their truck. It was around 2pm or so and no rain. They unloaded boxes of tools -- all kinds of interesting things I had never seen before (certainly not in our garage). They worked like demons to remove the wrought iron gate; the wrought iron side piece was uncooperative and it took them much longer than they expected. Much drilling into the concrete until the side piece finally let go. The sun kept moving across the sky. In the end they set up a bank of lights to see what they were doing. You'd like to think that once the gate and side piece were installed, the job was done. It wasn't. The electric motor now came into play. Until the gate was installed, there was no way to test the electric motor to make sure it was still working. The motor was hooked up on the gate and on the first go-round the gate wouldn't completely close. So the motor was re-positioned on the gate and welded back in place. This time it worked and the gate closed. Their clean up was immaculate. By the time their truck pulled out of the driveway it was dark. But the job was done - and done extremely well. The next morning I came out to look at the new gate. Great choice. The gate enhances the look of the house. I can't thank Eddie and his crew enough for putting this project on the fast track. And I'll say this for certain: King Custom Gates earned every single penny. Their 5-star rating is the real deal and is totally justified. They are the very best. read more
