He is by far the most passionate lawyer I've ever encountered -- zealous, aggressive when needed, and fully dedicated to giving us the strongest defense possible. From start to finish, it was clear that he cared deeply about his craft, his profession, and providing us with the absolute best representation. His representation remains one of the greatest investments and value received to this day! What stood out just as much was the respect he commanded in the courtroom. Even bail bondsmen and court clerks recognized him and noted how he consistently makes prosecutors work hard. That gave me incredible confidence in knowing we had the right person on our side. To this day, I remain blown away by his skill, humility, and thoughtfulness. I only hope he'll still be available if we ever need his services again -- though I wouldn't be surprised to see him rise to even higher levels in his career, which would be well deserved. I highly recommend Yancey Ellis without hesitation.

The best lawyers I have ever worked with! Hiring Jessica…read moreCarmichael was the best decision my family and I could ever make. My brother was accused and eventually charged with marriage fraud, a federal crime, and even though he was and is innocent, the prosecution was dead set on convicting him. When my brother was arrested Jessica was my first phone call and not only had she remembered my brother from a brief consult a year before, but was extremely empathetic to his situation and was ready to help right away. She brought her partner Yancey Ellis to the case and the two of them made a dream team. For the first time in months (and years) I felt I could take a breath and let them take over my fight for my brother. I've had several bad experiences with lawyers and letting go of the reigns and letting the two of them take control was a huge deal and a huge relief because they were kicking ass. Since day one of hiring Jessica and Yancey, they've given it their all and there wasn't a day, email or phone call that went unanswered. They both are very professional, prompt, knowledgeable and heavily involved in their cases. Not only did they give me peace of mind that my brother's life and future are in good hands but accomplished the ultimate results in a record time. With their amazing work they managed to get the case dismissed by prosecution and release my brother sparing him and our whole family humiliation of the trail. Myself, my brother and our whole family is eternally thankful to Jessica and Yancey!! They rock!

Bottom Line - Colleen Haddow is the BEST attorney I could have ever wished for --my only regret is…read morethat I didn't start with her from the beginning. Ms. Colleen Haddow came as a recommendation from my previous law firm following failed mediation in a highly complex, contentious, and financially draining divorce and custody case. The opposing counsel - whose professional reputation precedes her as a person devoid of ethics and civility, made finding a willing, capable, and affordable replacement daunting. Colleen personally and immediately took my call for an intake interview. When I opened by informing her of who opposing counsel was, she simply laughed with complete confidence, accepted my case, and immediately got my case moving on the right track. Unlike opposing counsel in this case, Colleen is a legal professional with impeccable integrity and ethics; but not to be confused with someone who submits to bully tactics or shies away from confrontation in or out of the courtroom. In contrast, Ms. Haddow is emotionally intelligent and well versed in the rules of the court to effectively persuade and, if need be, compel cooperation from even the most difficult of personalities. In doing so, she also remained a steadfast, approachable, and responsive attorney (often responding to me within minutes), who consistently addressed my concerns, provided objective perspective, and gave absolute sound guidance amidst the evolving challenges within the case. In short, she kept me sane and grounded in arguably the most stressful and emotionally draining period of my life. In addition to her superior soft skills, Colleen also demonstrated unmatched expertise and experience in distilling and framing the key issues of my case (fully explaining the legalities), to include those I hadn't initially seen, understood, or considered. She proved invaluable in interpreting and exposing financial information, indiscretions, and activities. She was also proactive, strategic, anticipatory, and prepared always and on all fronts. I am convinced that she and her abilities alone are the REASON that ultimately resulted in my case outcome far surpassing my initial expectations from failed mediation, and resulting in a final settlement that exceeded my best-case scenario in court (albeit that she was fully prepared and willing to execute). Colleen saved me thousands in legal expenses, but more importantly, she helped me overcome a series of short-term losses in exchange for an overwhelming long-term gain on my journey to a new and better life. In the strongest terms possible, I highly recommend Colleen Haddow for all family litigation.

I am so thankful for the recommendation and that I took this attorney's advice to retain Colleen. Colleen helped me navigate my separation and prepared me for trial with calculated wisdom, grace, and finesse. Ultimately yielding to a judge to decide what is best for the ones who matter most is excruciatingly hard; Colleen's command of the law, intimate knowledge of the details of my case and her execution in court were phenomenal. Her attention to detail, personal commitment to excellence and outstanding professionalism allowed a judge to clearly see the case before him. After custody, we were able to settle final terms in mediation. Again, Colleen ensured I was well prepared and that all the details were understood, disclosed, and terms fair and reasonable to bring my divorce to an end. I would not hesitate to recommend Colleen to anyone looking for an attorney with whom they can openly dialogue, solicit advice, and pay exceptional value for an elite standard of service. I tried one attorney before Colleen, witnessed and endured what the attorney on opposing counsel brought forth both in court and mediation, and am so thankful that I had Colleen with me to finalize what has been the most difficult time in my life. The results were truly unparalleled.

Dauntless Defense by the best of the best!…read more Ms. Marina Medvin is truly an exceptional attorney. She loves the Law, and it shows. Her expertise is best-in-class, she navigates the intricacies of the process without effort and commands respect of the prosecutors as a tough negotiator, projecting confidence with grace, elegance of logic that melts, but does not burn bridges behind. Charged with a high rate of speeding and reckless driving on George Washington Parkway (located on federal land), charge that carries possible prison term and a very high fine, I started to look for an attorney to represent me. In no time I came across hundreds of 5-star reviews left for Marina by happy clients. No paid-for advertisement can match the persuasive power of so many people from all walks of life, who had nothing but the most superlative things to say about Medvin Law. I contacted Marina, she responded promptly, and I just knew I am in good hands of an amazing lawyer. Marina was not only very responsive to my (admittedly) ceaseless questions, as I was worrying daily, and nightly, about the outcome of my case, but working with her top-notch paralegal, Elena, they advised me on exactly what to expect on the Court day and how to prepare for it. They went beyond formulaic advice, and the suggestions about what to bring with me, what not to say, what will happen in the courtroom etc. proved absolutely spot on. Marina and Elena covered things that I didn't think to ask about but was so fortunate to be in the hands of top pros, who did thoroughly thought the process through and injected it with positive energy and hope for a favorable outcome. I was most impressed with Marina's style and attention to detail while explaining the strategy, predicting likely (100% correct) outcome, and even providing encouragement and support I thought only happens in movies. I could not say enough to recommend Marina to anyone who finds him/herself in trouble. When Marina agreed to represent me, I felt the weight lifting off my shoulders, I knew I was in the best of hands. Marina is a credit to her profession and the kind of attorney others should be measured by. I feel so grateful to have her represent me, so fortunate to have her on my side. And the result in my case? A small speeding fine. Could not be more pleased.

Marina is a fearless and fearsome attorney…read more We navigated an extremely difficult case that lasted over 3 years against the most infamously stacked court systems in the country: the DC Federal District. As an attorney she stood by while I suffered withering public attacks against my character, going above and beyond our original contract in defending me not just in the legal courtroom but in the courtroom of public opinion as well. Even when my own resolve was flagging, Marina NEVER LET UP! She defended me with more ferocity than I would've defended myself! One of the greatest traits of her work is that she keeps the prosecution on the back foot. She doesn't wait for them to respond to her motions, but has the response to their response ready to go as soon as those federal prosecutors put down their pumpkin spice lattes long enough to show up to work. That's right, while the feds are busy laying about in an attempt to drag things on and drain your resources, she's WORKING. And as soon as they respond, BOOM! She's already countered their arguments. Talk about courtroom drama. She had them so backed in a corner, half of the DC DoJ flooded the court in an attempt to provide support to our prosecutors. An army of US Attorneys against just her and they knew they were losing. It was inspiring to see. But it's not just her legal knowledge and keen sense of tactics that give her such an advantage. It was what the Japanese refer to as Kokoro, or heart. Marina's valuable work ethic is the result of throwing her heart into the case. And that's not something you can say for most attorneys. Believe me, I used to work for an AmLaw 80 Corporate Law firm. I know attorneys. At the end of the day, the fees were beyond reasonable. In fact, I feel like I owe her far more than what I paid out. Hire Marina and you get more than an attorney. You get a decent, dedicated, and daunting human being. Highly recommend!
