Ye Beg Alicha (Lamb stew), Veggie Platter

What a cute little gem! We haven't had Ethiopian cuisine since moving out of the Bay Area, that was until we stumbled across this spot today. The service was great, the gal at the front helped us to decide on the Lamb Stew & Veggie Platter, both were great recommendations! The food is flavorful, fresh & delicious. Highly recommend!

We had one of the most delicious drinks here a ChaCha Latte yummy. We ordered them with no sugar and it tasted delicious. The service was quick. We called it in ahead of time and very friendly staff. And it was very relaxing and quiet while we were in there There was music also playing We will definitely be back again O

first time ever coming in here or even having this type of food 10 out of 10 experience not only is the staff amazing but the food is top-tier. I would definitely suggest the lamb stew.

Definitely a must order if you've never had Ethiopian food. Everything was delicious

Food was excellent ! From the moment you walk in, you can smell the tasty offerings. This little gem of a restaurant is so clean and well kept . I love that Kind Bean serves Halal meats as having a meat option is so nice . Service was so great and the sweet sister at the counter who greeted my party of 4 helped me pick the dish that I had been craving since my last Ethiopian food experience. (Thank you sister) Because I can't eat out too much in this economy, I'm planning on returning just to purchase the Injera lol so I can maintain my cravings until I return again! Thank You Kind Bean Cafe for the delicious experience :)

    Veggie platter and beef stew

I wanted to try something new and this spot definitely stood out. Ethiopian food and a cafe all in one. I noticed people came in for drinks and food but I wanted to try their most popular dishes. I got the veggie platter that had 5 different veggie preparations, that I can't say correctly, on a flat bread. The veggies were cooked down and still had flavor. The flat bread is soft and spongey. I also got the beef stew that came with rolled flat bread. The stew was dark and had a deep unique flavor. Eating everything together made for the best bites. Some meat, veggie, and soft flatbread enhanced the Ethiopian spices and the flavors were very unique. The only downside is the portions are small and they literally can put your whole meal on one big plate. Definitely recommend this spot if you are looking to experience something new!

They really don't care about delivery

I don't want to be negative but, if you don't want to be part of a delivery service, just don't. There's no need for people to pay good money and you just slop food into a container and think that's good to go.

This was a great neighborhood coffee shop with a twist. I really enjoy Ethiopian food and their coffee is always freshly made. Although on this encounter, I did not partake in the food the smells really had me engaged and wanting to take a plate home. I ordered the Ethiopian macchiato and it was very delicious. I requested that it wasn't made sweet so I can enjoy the flavors. The service was very quick and attentive. I definitely will be back for another round and hopefully a plate of food as well.

Food and service was wonderful! Everything tasted so great and the lady was so kind . We got this platter with two veggies and two meats( chicken and beef) two sodas and the total was $58.00.

The food was the perfect blend of spice and flavor, and the presentation of our food on top of the Injera was perfect. I got the coffee ceremony and that was a really fun treat! I also enjoyed the traditional Ethiopian music they were playing. The ladies working there were very kind and explained the different foods and how the coffee ceremony works in their cultural so that context really helped me to enjoy the whole meal. The whole place had a really cool vibe and I can't wait to go back.

Glad we stepped out of our comfort zone and gave this place a try! It was our first time trying Ethiopian food so we played it safe and ordered one plate. It was delicious! The stew reminded us of Mexican mole! It did come with only one chicken leg so if you like a lot of meat I would maybe recommend ordering extra. My coffee was smooth and flavorful and the matcha tasted earthy which my partner enjoyed. Service was also great, both ladies were welcoming and checked in on us as we ate.

Chicken pea gravy, Doro Wot, lamb tibs, injera

SERVICE: Service was excellent. The owner(?) took our order and was super nice and attentive. Our kids didn't like the Injera so we ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Since they didn't have bagels on hand, she made a sandwich with cream cheese. She didn't charge us because it was "for the kids". We insisted on paying but she ended up not charging us in the end. FOOD: - Chickpea gravy/stew - Soo delicious. It's kind of like a very very flavorful hummus (but better) - full of spices like paprika, berbere, etc. - Lamb tibs - good in the beginning but it started to overcook on the iron plate. Next time we'll remove it from the iron plate immediately and move it onto the injera disc. - Doro wot (Ethiopian chicken stew) was decent. The chicken could use more flavor. The stew/gravy was better than the chicken. Portion was a bit small with a decent amount of gravy but 1 drumstick and 1 egg. VIBE: Kind Bean Cafe seems to be a fixture in the Ethiopian community! A good number of customers seemed to know the owner. We'll definitely come back and looking forward to ordering the vegetarian sampler! Note: If you've never been to an Ethiopian place, you would generally order some mains and they come out on top of a very big circular Injera. Injera is kind of like a very moist sourdough flatbread that is made of teff flour. It is moist, tangy, holey, and the foundation of Ethiopian food.

Veggie platter (shiro wot, kik alicha, misir wot, cabbage wot, gomen wot); comes with rolls of injera

As in Ethiopian culture, we embraced eating the meal with our hand. - Doro Wot: chicken was tender and very flavorful. The sauce was the star! It had bold and intense flavor but it was kinda spicy (my kid still devoured it although it was too spicy for him). I just wish that the chicken pieces were a bit bigger since there were lots of sauce leftover. - Injera bread: this sour pancake like bread grows on me! It had soft chewy texture but it was the perfect 'tool' to absorb all the delicious doro wot sauce. - Veggie platter: the portion was quite generous. All the veggie were fresh and delicious! - Mini combo with chicken tibs & split peas and cabbage carrot: delicious! The chicken pieces were tender and flavorful. The cabbage & carrot still had crunch and slight sweetness - my favorite! The split peas were flavorful and not mushy.

The service was good as the owner was attentive & made sure I was good. He gave me extra injera to remedy my complaint about my food being served on a cold, wet plate.
