If I could give zero stars I would! The cashier is always very rude, for no reason. First time: I walked into the little convenience store to buy a quick car wash ( first time doing that). I paid and started to walk away when the guy started yelling for me as I forgot the ticket with the code. I turned around as he yelled for me and he's like "you forgot your ticket, how else do you think you'll get the car wash" but like yelling and so pissed off and I was so shocked that he spoke to me that way I just grabbed the receipt and walked away in shame. I felt bad but then i realized he could've just been like hey you forgot your ticket and laughed it off or been nice about it. But he acted like I trashed the place. Second time: I just pumped gas and to avoid going into the conscience store again I paid for my gas at the station and I added an express car wash. The machine is supposed to print out a ticket with the code. It only said "printing" and nothing came out. I thought about leaving to avoid seeing the cashier but no that's 8 dollars that I spend on a car wash. So I walked over into the convenience store again and I told the cashier " hey I just pumped gas on #6 and I added a car wash but the ticket didn't print out" right away he yells out with an attitude "what ticket ?" You need a receipt? And I'm like no I paid for a car wash and he's talking over me and I just snapped back because why is he like this ? Is he like this to everyone? I told him he's rude and that every time I go he's so rude to me. Right away he changed his tone and says he's not rude. Anyway, never going back. I come often because it's a convenient place for gas and car wash but the disrespect is just not worth it. Not to mention one time I pumped gas and I didn't realize until way later that my mileage hardly went up. Bad place all around ! read more

Been coming to Kim's for 10+ years; it is now Paek Shell Service as Kim retired recently. Both have exceptional service. I went same day with demolishes brakes & he was able to replace all brakes for roughly $100. Completed within an hour. Thanks for the best; will be back soon read more

This is probably the shortest review in Yelp history! I needed change for the car wash down the street. Pedro was awesome and changed my $50 for 2 $20's and a ten. I then had the audacity to ask him for 2 $5's for the ten. Pedro didn't blink he said no problem and did it. (The car wash is $5 and only gives change in car wash tokens). Even though I bought nothing and the change wash not for their car wash, (if the have one, I don't remember)...Pedro treated well and I appreciate that! read more

This is s nice gas station. They also have a car wash. The air and water machines are free and are always in good working condition. I like the fact that this station (although isn't in the greatest area) never has people standing around begging for money or to pump your gas. The prices are reasonable and pretty much stay online with the average cost of gas at the time. They however do charge an additional charge for using debit or credit. There is also a mechanic on duty to offer light auto service such as; oil changes and tune ups. There is a small food service available to buy snacks such as chips, beverages, nuts, soda, crackers, milk etc, almost anything except for liquor. The attendants are always polite, friendly, and helpful. All in all, yes this is just another average gas station in"the hood" but it's clean, well kept, and without the beggared asking for a handout. read more

My family has been coming here for over 15 years to get their car serviced and they've never had any complaints. Good honest mechanic and never had any problems. But since the parentals got a newer car, it's outside the scope of their abilities, but they still bring in the '01 corolla to get regularly scheduled maintenance done. Gas prices are usually pretty competitive here; but the carwash can get pretty popular, so just make sure you go at non-peak times. Nothin to complain about, good job guys! read more

You might be tempted by the cheap price of the car wash, but you are best off going so where else. The wash itself is of poor quality, you'll spend 15 minutes drying off your car afterwards if you happen to carry a terry towel with you, and that's if the system doesn't glitch on you like it did to me and several other customers. To top it off, the employee on site was rude, condescending, and generally unsympathetic to any issues we had. When I tried to explain the problems I was having, I was accused of lying and essentially told to shut up more than once. I don't believe the customer needs to be put on a pedestal, but there's no reason to act like the way this guy did unless you're 9 years old or possibly on a prank show. Maybe this was Ashton Kutcher's fault, somehow. Either way... Avoid, avoid, avoid! read more

Brake & Lamp inspection. Round 2. So recently my car failed a Brake/Lamp inspection at shop in the neighborhood but I still had a feeling that that guy was being sheistey (sp?), so I decided to check other car shops. I checked my Handy dandy Yelp app, and to my surprise all the shops I called (which I found on Yelp) didn't do Brake & lamp inspections, but the last place I called said that this Shell Did them. I called in, and the guy said the inspection was $70 (one time feel). Upset from the recent fail which I ended up loosing some $$$, I decided to risk the $70 and do the inspection. When I got to the Shell, there was only one car before me, so I filled out all the paper work and the gentleman working there (I believe his name was Kil, and the Manager of the Garage) said he can do the inspection in a few minutes. It's been really hot lately so i went into the Gas Station shop and look for some Ice Cream. Didn't find any, so I went to the Liquor Store across the street. I got back in about 2 minutes and didn't see my car in the shop, and as I was going to ask Kil where my car was I saw one of the other mechanics driving it back (testing out the Brakes). Once back, I sat down for a few minutes (Checking in here Yelp/Shell Gas station), and just as I was going to check some e-mails my car was done. Kil, gave me both certification slips I had to take to the DMV and wished me a nice day. read more

After my Shell card with a balance of $115 on it was declined by two pumps, I took it inside to have it run. The employee ran it and told me it had a zero balance, getting angry and implying I was trying to use a bad card to score free gas. He threw it back under the partition at me uttering "This is worthless." I told him I knew it had a balance, and I'd just used it at that station days earlier. He pointed at the zero balance on his screen, at his eye, and rudely said 'Can't you see?' I asked him not to be an ass about it, and he lost it. He screamed "F*** YOU!," called me an "A**hole," and came out of his booth to physically threaten me. I'm contacting Shell about this matter and considering legal action. In the meantime, I suggest staying FAR away from this station. read more

The fact that they have the same owner and the same head mechanic for 20+ years says something about their business integrity. I have been relying on Mr. Kil for all major maintenance and repairs past 20+ years for our family cars - 7 different ones over that period and am still a loyal customer. read more

Mechanics here are excellent and really friendly. I usually work on my own car and initially came in for an oil change but since I was here and it was convenient, they also changed out my battery, changed a blinker bulb that was out, filled my tires, checked my brakes, and they also fixed my hood latch! Really greatful for their quick work and honesty. read more

If I could give zero rating i would do so ! BAD DRYER DESTROYS PAINT LEAVING WATER SPOTS ! POOR SERVICE BAD ATTITUDES ! The employees are extremely rood. You don't expect much from a $4-5 car wash but what you do expect is to receive one when you pay for it. I didn't know how to use it and no one warned me on dos and dont's. If you mess up and drive to far in or back up to far and the wash decided not to work your out your money. There're no reset no refund ex. They have cameras in the pay station the employees are instructed to just take money jot accommodate customers. Last the wash sucks it often misses the roof in spots and never does a good dry so your paint is destroyed with water spots. read more

If you try to use your Ralph's rewards here, make sure to check that you get the discount. Most likely you will not get the discount and trying to explain that to the clerk will be futile. Also if you want a carwash, check that it is actually open. The station at the pump will still sell you the carwash even if it is closed. Very reliable place for car maintenance. This is located in somewhat run down low income area of Los Angeles. However, you ask anyone in the neighborhood for car repair, people will swear by it. During LA Riot several gas stations in the area were set on fire. However, the neighbors came out to protect this gas station and saved from major damage. As a matter of fact, there used to be two gas stations on La Brea and Washington before the Riot, and both of them are gone. I have been using Kim's Shell Service for most of the major repairs on my automobiles past 20+ years except when I had to be out of the Southern California. The head mechanic Mr. Gil has been working at this location as far as I can remember. He is very meticulous and picky guy. He takes pride in his work. One of my car was serviced for almost all maintenance and repairs and ran over 250K miles when I finally got tired of it and gave away. Although I live quite far now (1Hr plus drive), I still make time to visit this place whenever there is a major repair needed or when I feel uncomfortable with the verdict my local repair shop renders. read more

I went to get my break and light inspection, first he charged me $70 before the inspection (which other locations don't, unless you pass it) and somehow failed. He walked around the car the 4 times, until he finally said that my low beam lights were different from my high beam and he wanted to charge me an additional $70 to fix it. He is a total ripoff and don't recommend this place. He just wanted to get money out of me-luckily I found a better place! read more

One star for the convenience (it's on my way home from work) and one for the pricing. This place lacks customer service though. I went into the shop to tell them that the keypad had stopped working and was stuck. I couldn't enter my rewards number, couldn't pay, couldn't cancel to try to restart. I told the guy (older Latino man) that was working there and he started telling me it was my fault and that I didn't know how to do it so I was making him do it. He had a horrible attitude from beginning to end, harrumphing the whole time. He finished my transaction angrily and I went on my way. It seems from the other reviews that many more people have had problems with the same man. Somebody needs to manage this guy! I had a very bad experience at this Shell gas station, specifically because the older Mexican man threatened me with violence after all I did was ask him if the credit card machine worked. He told me it didn't, but I wanted to double check because I thought the customer ahead of me had used it. He was too busy flirting with a girl who was clearly not interested in him. I asked for his name after being treated this way and he flipped me off, saying "That's my name m*otherf*cker". This is why I give this place 1 star. However, the owner is great...the employees just need to be replaced. read more

These guys have been my one stop for everything car related for years, since this is my hood. I just came by for a smog check and I was serviced right away. I started at rocket smog on La Cienega, but I knew the price the guy gave me sounded pretty high. So I left there and came to my guys at Shell and the price for a simple smog check was $10 cheaper! Rocket smog offers a coupon on their site, but it only takes their $58 smog check to $53. I paid just under 50 here at Shell. Never again will I stray. read more

carwash sucks. Air line is broken half the time. gas is not competitvely priced. owner has seen me go there for years and wouldn't let me slide $0.25 for a pack of cigarettes even though I said I'd pay him back that same day. they don't take cedit/debit after 10pm--been turned away several times when walking there and arrived a couple of minutes agter cut off time, and the employee smiles when he turns you away. Rifo, the bitch-ass old man who works the swing shift, is a total asshole. when i pay for gas and asked him to turn on the air, he'll know im waiting at the airpump hut he'll either take his sweet time or he'll help several people before hitting the button--it's like, how long does it take to hit the fuckin button?! sometimes he'll help people the window first, even though I'm inside and have been waiting for him so i can use my debit card. I setiously dislike this guy. he's talked shit to me several times because I'm implying that he's wasting my time by being unfair at the line or taking his sweet time to turn on the pump. the muthucka yelled at me once when i asked him whether or not he heard my request to turn the air on since he torally ignored me when inasked the first time. he's mad at the world because he 's in his 60's and has to work at a gas station. I didn't do my homework before letting them do the work, and was seriously overcharged for parts... He charged 236$ for an oxygen sensor that I saw priced at 31$ to 50$. The same brand.... Also charged extremely high for the other work which was part of getting my smog certificate... This place does both test only and smog repairs. I think he is a good mechanic, but I will not return to his business.. But if you want to pay 200-300$ extra like I did go see for yourself. read more

This gas station is just like any other but don't go there for service. The breaks and lights inspection for DMV was reasonably priced $70 but I had to replace few minor lights. He wanted to charge me $15 per light. I went to automotive supply and did it myself. When I got back it was lunch time and ALL of the mechanics were eating lunch in the back. I sat in my car for 45 minutes before the boss got up and took care of my paper work. There were no customers in site. Sometimes good deal is a bad choice. read more

So I've been going there for years jus for gas tho. Mr kim is a nice guy and so is the younger Hispanic guy. Today I went to get gas and there was an older Hispanic guy. First it takes the guy several seconds to acknowledge me even though there isn't anyone else who needs helps. Then when I slide my card it asks credit or debit. I chose credit but it still asked for my pin number. I asked the guy can I process it thru credit. He says no. I'm like why not it says it on the pin pad. He says if I want to use credit to go outside and do it at the pump. I said no I've done it before like that and it gives me the option on the screen. He proceeds to raise his voice demanding me to use the gas pump pin pad. I say no I wanna use my card as credit in here for a specific amount. He again declines saying I don't know what I'm talking about and turns to help the person at the outside window. I'm truly upset with this service. It made me get out of character and become enraged with his professionalism or lack there of. I left and got gas down the street for a cheaper amount that knew how to process my transaction correctly. I won't be returning.
