Went in today for the lunch special, despite inflation jumping the lunch special is the same price and still comes with complimentary soup and salad! How and why this place isn't jammed at lunch baffles me. There's a massive amount of bang for the buck here. The dining room is massive so there's no problem even if there are others dining. The service is insanely fast and they have really good tea and water. It's all home made quality and that's what makes the place impressive. A+ cleanliness score was attained across the restaurant and the examined women's restroom. The men's room was not examined and will not be examined due to female examiner. read more

Please support this small business! The lunch special is a really good price! Includes miso soup, appetizer, and 4 rolls! My favorite roll was the eel avocado, 2nd favorite was spicy tuna roll. Eel avocado was savory and my partner really liked it as well. The spicy tuna roll is the perfect amount of spicy for me (I think others might find it a tab bit too spicy)! I'm making this my go-to sushi place in Palatine! Service was great! We were the only ones present at the time haha. You order using the paper sheet and pencil at the table if you are doing lunch or dinner special. They also hand you the regular menu if not. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and minimalistic. I think they could use some plant decorations and more wall art. My first impression of Kimpro sushi was alittle sterile.not much ambiance but I guess if you are serving sushi, you want a fresh clean appearance. KIMPRO has that. I love tempura and it usually has a light starch coating. What i recieved was shrimp deep fried with a panto crust. A little heavy for my taste but still good. The staff was attentive and professional which was good.i can't slam nor judge a place without trying something deep fried. After I delve into the sushi, i can make my mind. I was very optimistic when first trying Kimpro. I was hoping this would be a good lunch spot for me, as it is near a frequent jobsite. Our group of four got takeout from here. We ordered some hot food, and some sushi. I'll start with the positives. Restaurant is new, and prices are reasonable. Food was packaged nicely and thoughtfully. Moving on to the rest, the sushi was pretty bad. The sushi rice was not seasoned well, causing the sushi to lack flavor, the fish was not fresh which was even noticeable in the spicy tuna which has spicy mayo to mask the lack of freshness. The soy sauce provided was not a premium Japanese soy, but a cheaper soy from China. The hot food wasn't any better. The dishes with fried chicken had dried out chicken (maybe using precooked chicken?) and the sauces were not liked by any of us. The crab rangoon was dried out a bit and did not taste very good. The potstickers were the only item in the lunch bento that we liked. Overall, all four of us were in agreement, not coming back here. read more

The restaurant was clean and spacious with a nice quiet ambience, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food was very good. I would especially recommend the spicy salmon roll as well as the Mexican roll. First of all, make sure to read the descriptions of the rolls! The shrimp tempura roll has cream cheese, when traditionally it doesn't. In addition, some special rolls have "shrimp tempura roll", which a couple of our party members misread as just regular shrimp tempura. However, the food was pretty tasty and worth it. The service was also great, and the interior is modern and comfy. The Great: the sushi nigiri The quality of fish is evidently high - each piece of fish was large, and succulent. The sushi rice was cooked perfectly as well. The okay: the yakiudon and chicken teriyaki, Fancy roll The yakiudon (beef) had good quality beef, but it wasn't anything special. For the price, it is definitely filling and worth it. The chicken teriyaki had the sauce drizzled on top. Would have preferred it to be marinated in it, but the flavor was there. Just found out about this place and it wasn't too far so I gave it a try. Not a lot of great takeout sushi places in AH/Palatine... I was pleased with the maki rolls. The classic rolls were fantastic, and the specialty rolls I ate were solid in taste, but the variety of specialty rolls leaves something to be desired. Felt like a lot were similar to each other. The woman taking the order over the phone was pleasant. Service was good when we got there to pick up the order. She made sure everything was packed and included before we left. Interior is pretty standard modern industrial fare. A lot of space...only had 1 couple dining in when I was there. I like the smaller packets of soy sauce they provide. As they are a new business, they have a 25% off all regular price orders. Don't know when that expires, but for now, it is a great deal. I'll be back the next time I order sushi.
