This is my new favorite store in Vancouver. I know, I know, it's not a new store. It's been around a long time. But it's new to me - and I FREAKIN' LOVE IT. I was wandering around Gastown the other day - I'm not often in the area, - and I stumbled upon this fabulous gift and card shop. It's small but wow, it packs a punch. I'm a sucker for stationery stores. I love greeting cards - the wittier, the more twisted, the better. I love funky household gift items (mostly for myself, truth be known!). I love fun tchotchkes that I can collect through the year and then put in my adult kids' Christmas stockings or give to them, out of the blue, to cheer them up. I love fun socks, clever games, colorful jigsaw puzzles, gorgeous wrapping papers and gift bags, Vancouver ornaments and Prosser art canvases. In other words, I love everything this store sells. They have a box that says "FREE" on it and it contains various items - all free. I got a small structured mylar-esque lunchbox that zippers up and has cute graphics of bike riders all over it. Totally new, with tags! I put all my purchases in it and carried it home, planning to give it to a friend who's a big bike enthusiast. SO nice. Another bonus is how incredibly nice the folks are who work here. As soon as I entered this place, I could see it was my kind of store, so I told the guy behind the counter that I love this store and I am going to be here a while (lol). He and I laughed and chatted and I browsed the store for a long, long time, getting a bunch of fun things along the way, chuckling at the funny (and some risqué) cards, admiring all the framing work they do (oh yeah, I should mention that they're essentially a framing shop!), and just loving everything about this fun shop. read more

What a great shop to find funny/unique cards and small gift items. The staff are wonderful and kindly provided me with a Blue Jays balloon for my son. I come here for all of my birthday and other greeting cards. read more

What a fun gift shop! I liked Lala's on the Drive to find funky gift but I guess this store has more edgy and naughty gift. From under $5 gift like a magnet, you will find something that make you chuckle. I will be back again for sure! read more

I am not someone who likes to splurge on a vacay over souvenirs or goodies. I think I blacked out and spent over $50 CAD at Kimprints. It's a great gift shop in the heart of Gastown. They offered very quirky gift shop items from cards to gadgets to custom prints. They also offer framing services for the locals. Don't feel pressured to buy but I encourage you to browse around. I ended up buying a bunch of beautiful cards that I've never seen in the U.S. Also check out the hilarious Blue Q products. I bought a few girl friends "Eat Up, Bitches" and "You're doing Fucking Great" dish towels as souvenirs than just the usual "real" Maple Syrup gift item. No offense to Maple Syrup from Canada. I bought some Syrup for myself, but I enjoy supporting local businesses wherever I can. read more

This place is so awesome. I randomly walked in while roaming the streets of Gastown. It was definitely my favorite shop. The have so many beautiful prints that are framed. I wanted to buy just the print, but unfortunately they only have them framed (which would have taken up too much space in my luggage). I did walk out with an awesome birthday card for my best friend. I can't wait to give it to her! You could easily spend over an hour at this place if you are into artsy stuff, junk and random knick-knacks. read more

Probably my favorite who in Vancouver. It sells art, cards, socks, masks, cork access, funny mints, festival survival kits, stationary, shopping bags, mugs, party favors, ... Basically a bunch of really cute, funny, random stuff. Everytime I walk into this shop I walk or thinking I wish I could be friends with whoever stocks this store. Recommended of you need to kill some time. Recommended if you need to get somebody a light hearted gift and have no idea what you could give them. read more

This place is a go-to for Gastown fans. It has a fun collection of cards, novelty items, but the main attraction is the awesome art. They have amazing pieces and t-shirts that are beautiful, provocative, and meaningful. I just bought a wall piece called "In Her Arms", signed by the artist, which I plan on prominently displaying at my home. Everything is affordable and cool! This shop, located in the Hotel Europe building (Canada's first concrete structure, built in 1908), is packed to the brim with unique and interesting gifts, cards and prints. The space, right at the front of this flatiron building, is a lovely place to wile away 20 minutes, and it is my go-to stop for pretty cards. But it is truly Vera, the shop's manager, who makes this a 5 star experience for me. When I told her I had "framing anxiety" about what to do with the myriad art prints I had acquired while on my travels, she told me to come in, relax and look at the options. "I'll help you - and you don't have to buy anything. Take your time and think about it!" When I did bring my prints in, she put me at ease immediately, and didn't try to steer me toward high priced options. She suggested a new technique of placing my Schiele print on canvas and stretching it, and told me just to go for a poster frame for my Chagall. She then gave me a 20% discount for working in the DTES! The total was MUCH less than I expected, and my pals who frame things often were astonished at how reasonable it was. The finished product looks great, and her friendly, professional and knowledgeable service will keep me coming back. Thanks Vera! read more

This is one of the coolest shops I've seen in Vancouver - definitely brought me back to my years in Portland... But anyways, they have a variety of prints, artwork, fun/ny cards, quirky gifts, and the customer service was just awesome. Of course you can get any of your artwork you need framed here as well - they have lots of frames and options to choose from and the staff seems very knowledgeable. The shop itself is not too big, but I could spend hours just looking at things and reflecting on some of the artwork too. Definitely worth a perusal if you're in the Gastown area. read more

After visiting Vancouver's "FanExpo" I had a couple of spendy prints that needed framing. The nearby Opus offered 'assisted self-framing', but I wanted someone more professional than me to have a look at the project. The friendly staff at KimPrints knew exactly what I needed, were great at finding matting and frames to match my pieces, and provided a lot of useful advice when it came to picking out frames for my art and price point. read more

I recently bought a Ken Foster painting. Because of the type of canvas he used, as well as the paints themselves, I knew that it would be a challenge to frame. That is why I went to Kimprints. From the moment I started talking to Kim and Vera about framing ideas, I knew that I was at the right place. The Kimprints selection of frame and matte styles was huge, but I was not overwhelmed by having to spend hours digging through it all to find what I wanted. By talking to me upfront about the painting - how I felt about the work itself, how I wanted others to see it, the type of location I saw it hanging in - Kim and Vera were quickly able to come up with a few framing suggestions for me. It was quick, easy, painless, and the results were incredible! While I had really liked the painting even before it was framed, once it was framed I absolutely fell in love with it. They were able to frame my picture in such a way that the frame did not look like just a border around my painting; it became an extension of the artwork itself. I often go to Kimprints when I'm looking for the perfect occasion card, they have a great selection! Most recently, I went in to purchase some 5 by 7 card envelopes. While they don't sell the envelopes by themselves, the girl mentioned that they have a ton of excess envelopes and offered them to me for free! She was so patient, counting 50 out for me. Great staff, service, skills and fair prices. It is rare to find a friendly shop like this -- the shop reminds me of "old Vancouver" small town charm. I wouldn't hesitate to drive downtown again, deal with meter parking and carrying large frames back to my car again. Plus, the store had great gifts, cards, other interesting trinkets to check out. The owner is a riot and obviously has a good sense a humor (she selects the fits items for sale in the store and there are some funny signs, gag gifts, and such to check out ). read more

I strongly suggest taking your framing needs elsewhere if you are hoping for a positive and helpful experience. I was looking for a natural wood finished frame and Kim suggested I buy an unfinished wooden frame and stain it myself. When I took it home to stain, the wood didn't take to it well. There were very blotchy areas, as the wood wouldn't stain in some parts. When I took the frame back to the store to discuss my concerns, I was informed by an employee that I should have began by sanding the frame, putting a bottom coat on it, staining it, sanding it again, and finishing it off with a top coat. This was brand new information to me, as Kim didn't provide me with these details initially. Since I'm not a professional, I could have used this guidance to begin with, as I would have went with something else, based on the amount of work. I was so upset, it felt like money down the drain, which it was, as I had to cough up more money for Kim to make it right. I chose a plain black frame; however, I quickly changed my mind, so I called Kim and told her I'd prefer white over black. When I went to pick up the frame, it was black. I told Kim she was the person I spoke with directly and even pulled up my phone records showing the date and time I spoke with her. She informed me this was a very expensive mistake, as if it was my fault. Not once did I receive an apology and when I asked for some funds back for the delay, I was told to get out of the store. It will be 4 weeks by the time I receive my framed photo. In addition, I have paid Kimprints $300 and I will be receiving a $100 frame. I'm really disappointed. The photo has significant meaning to me and to be treated so disrespectfully has made me really sad. I just hope the photo still brings me joy when I eventually get to hang it up and look at it. If I could do it all over again, I would have gone somewhere else. I have been a customer of Kimprints for 10 years. It was my go to for cards, funny gifts, Christmas ornaments and candles. Based on this experience, I will not be shopping at Kimprints in the future which is sad as I enjoy supporting local businesses. read more

I've been in here on more than one occasion. One of the best stores for awesome card selections in the city. F*ck Hallmark or Carlton cards. If you want an awesome place to get a greeting card...this is the place. Awesome customer service and good prices. They even have some kitsch trinkets as well. I will be coming back to get some posters and autographed CD's framed. read more

Came here for the first time recently to get a custom mat cut for a piece of art. I made the mistake of not bringing in the art itself the first time, only the measurements, and when I took the mat home it turns out it was cut to the wrong size. However, I took it back (with the the art this time!) and they were very happy to fix it for me and cut a new mat. So, 5 stars! $25 seems pricey for a mat but I guess that's standard these days unless you get a pre-cut one from Opus or something. I'll be back to this store for any future custom matting needs! read more

Shopped here for the first time - and likely the last today. Really fabulous stuff. Lots of laughs with my teen son and we found some great gift ideas. I would have bought more if we had had any customer service. Two staff were having a very civilized and thought provoking argument on what had gone wrong in their day and how they each saw it from their own perspective and therefore dealt with it differently. Unfortunately all customers were ignored while they did so. When their discussion ended with a very touching hug .......there was still no customer service. AT. ALL. I spoke to the woman who rang up my purchase - she was incredibly unaware that self care and self awareness do no supersede doing your job...and the excellent communication skills with her coworker were not in evidence with me. read more

Their t-shirts always seem to be out of stock in my size, and generally their prices are a bit much for what the item is, but overall this store is awesome. It's a great place to get novelty gifts. The staff is kind and informative. It's a small store, but I could easily spend hours and hundreds of dollars in here. read more
