    Candy!

My husband was out doing Uber and picked up the daughter that owns Kimmie Candy and she gave him a goodie bag. Well let me just say loved everything in the bag! My favorite was the chocolate covered sunflower seeds! Thank you so much!!

If it weren't for photos online I wouldn't have known that you can walk into this little storefront where you can taste a variety of candy at their tasting bar! FOR FREE! From the outside it looks just like an industrial building but we went in and was greeted by this friendly lady at the counter. I told her it was our first time and she gave us a little rundown of the company, what they were most known for (Sunburst) and showed us the Tasting Bar. If it wasn't for the brilliant idea of that tasting bar my boyfriend wouldn't have found his new favorite snack; The Kimmie Corn. Unfortunately, they don't hold in person tours of the factory anymore since COVID but they do offer Virtual Tours! And the woman that helped us was very informative of any questions we had, definitely will go back because we didn't get to have some FOYO! There's a small frozen yogurt machine I believe they were charging $3.50? I didn't ask about the size. A few of my favorites were the Jelly Belly dispenser where you fill your own bag according to your size preference, the prices were posted up on the displays. Sorry I don't remember the pricing just that it was all reasonably priced. Next was the Harry Potter chocolate section, I love Harry Potter so you know I had to buy a couple things (not pictured). They also have gift baskets available for purchase, great for gifts! I also loved their mint, I can't remember what it was called but it was only $0.50 a piece so I decided to grab a couple just to try. Man I should have bought a bag cause we loved it. I prefer it over Andes mint chocolate and Andes is my favorite. "Made out of 100% Peppermint oil" I remember reading on the container. Lastly, Punch cards was also a thing! Which I love! We spent about $25 for a decent amount of candy we had (not all pictured). So for Every $5 you spend you collect a stamp, collect enough to get $5 off your next purchase. You know I will be back soon!

I've seen Kimmie Candy products in the store and have known they were a local company through work but this was my first visit to their facilities. It was really cool, clean and had a lot of variety of candy. They even had an ice cream machine. I like their products, especially the ChocoRocks and the Salted Caramel ChocoRocks; the charcoal looking ChocoRocks makes for a fun and funny stocking stiffer around Christmas time. The two ladies at the store were really friendly and nice. It's great to be able to support our local businesses.

Like a kid in a candy factory.

Unique, memorable, and FREE. Right in the center of Reno. REALLY it is. What an amazing combo. Sadly I missed the Elite Event here. I am so glad we did this though. The look on my sister's face was priceless when she realized she was about the have her very own Charlie and the Chocolate experience. There was even an Agustus Gloop child on the tour with us. If there was a chocolate river, I woulda..... Ok, he wasn't quite that bad. Don't miss the soda selection. Pickle, Dirt, Cotton Candy, Pimple Pop, Pirate's Piss, Bacon, Maple, Grass... The list goes on. Awesome Stocking stuffers are everywhere in the gift shop. Even free hair net souvenirs.

Kimmie Candy Tour - The Willy Wonka of Nevada !!! (No Gold Ticket Required!)

What A Sweet Lil Business! And Go On The Tour! [No Gold Ticket Required!] https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kimmie-candy-reno?select=e0ey_rHn3N0YePRmkDRVgA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w SITREP In the city of Reno they have their very own candy & chocolate factory! "Kimmie Candy!" ("Kimmie"). How cool is that? It may not be as big as some of the global giants - such as Mars, Inc. (USA), Nestlé (Switzerland), Barcel (Mexico City), or Ferrero (Italy) - but it puts the sweet tastes in all the right places in your mouth. THE SETUP Coming up to Reno for a fun-filled weekend of events, Kimmie was the very first place I went to so I could meet up with friends for the very fun Candy Factory Tour. Luckily I didn't eat any off-limits blueberry flavored-candy and subsequently turn into a giant blueberry like that very very naughty Violet Beauregarde in the movie Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Yqw_f26SvM Instead, since I was a good boy, I got to wear a really cool hat! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kimmie-candy-reno?select=Dn8n0sHoCR_7oWlYai5GAQ THE CANDY FACTORY TOUR! If you are in Reno, take some time to pop by and take the 20 minute candy factory tour - I have to admit I was disappointed since I didn't see any Oompa-Loompas, but I DID see some very cool equipment. VERY sci-fi looking - like scary robots getting ready to take over the world - with human CANDY-CLONES that pop out of the machines! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kimmie-candy-reno?select=CxKxzqXI6s2om9vVHukAWA Actually, though, yummy candy is mixed in these machines, and also colored, and also flavored, etc. etc. Some rooms I would just love to put the output hose in mah mouth and say "Fill Me UP!" Though when I see "Chocolate Spray", I hope that does not mean a "nose-input." [But hey, I'd totally down to try something new.] ;) https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kimmie-candy-reno?select=WMqK3V9cSxm6gLR0bASPEA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w And if you have different kinds of allergies - ie. nuts - they are thoughtful to have posted signs for you to stay away from the rooms that pose a hazard to you. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/kimmie-candy-reno?select=zWb01621xY8uuOgUtBMnMA&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w SAMPLING! After the tour, peruse the gift shop for some of the most delicious and freshest candy you will come across. Kimmie's gift shop not only has items for sale but also has incredible sampling stations of most of their candy. That way you only have to buy what you KNOW is delicious to you. THE LOWDOWN Kimmie Candy is a true gift to the City of Reno to have a marvelous candy factory in their midst.

Kids excited for their first visit

Since I was a kid (after watching Willy Wonka), I've always wondered when my first official chocolate factory tour would be. Who knew it would be in the biggest little city, Reno. I googled "chocolate factory, Reno" one day, hoping to take my two toddlers on a new adventure. I thought to myself, Reno has a little of everything and had a hunch that they could possibly have their own chocolate factory. I was surprised to have found Kimmie Candy- a factory started here in Reno that makes their own recipes and distributes them around the world. How exciting!!!! We entered the factory and was immediately greeted by a lady worker. She was so nice and informative, giving me and the kids information on all of their FREE samples. I looked at the long line up of samples and stars popped into me and my kid's eyes. There were chocolate covered sunflower seeds (one of their most popular, known as Sunbursts), chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate rocks(also very popular), chocolate covered dates, chocolate covered nuts and so much more. I loved that they had some options that are made from natural dyes just for the folks with allergies (pastel choco rocks). Aside from their candy, the have a small section of jelly beans, lollipops, and a small selection of refrigerated cold drinks (soda). Their main room has a cool backdrop that's perfect for taking pictures, an actual cocoa tree, a little museum to show how their chocolate is made, all their candy for sale, and a seating area with a big screen for their free tour. Another worker Kayla, was as nice as could be. She gave me and the kids a free customized tour-short and sweet. First she showed a short video segment on their factory's history. Then she handed me and my kids hair nets (required). She even helped with putting them on my kid's heads. We entered the factory and was greeted by all sorts of sweet scents. There were several rooms she showed us, all having their own function and they were really fun to watch. Though a small factory, it was very interesting to see how their candy was made and packaged. I loved that they installed a wooden beam under every viewing window for the little ones to see better. At the end of our tour, we couldn't help but buy some of their candy (we don't usually buy candy, but you just can't beat their deals, their candy is fresh and not overly sweet and we wanted to support their company). They have so many fun packs (great for Halloween), tubes, and small packages. They even have oops tubes (maybe labeling is a little off) that are cheaper. I'm surprised that this factory doesn't pop up on Google when I search for fun things to do in Reno. You can't beat a free factory tour, free samples, grade A service and the cheapest chocolate in town.

    That's a lotta candy! #eatnevada

Who can take a sunrise, Sprinkle it in dew, Cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two? The Candy Man of course! And we're not talking about the wacky Wonka here. We're talking about the team behind international sensations like Sunbursts, Chocorocks, and Kimmie Corn! The Biggest Little Candy Factory in the World...Reno's very own, Kimmie Candy! Want to know where chocolate comes from? Joe Dutra and the team here should know! They have a tank that can hold about 40,000 gallons of the liquid form right on site. They use that chocolate to produce all of their products in a factory that seems pretty darn small for the kind of volume they crank out! Granted that's in the form of tiny little chocolate covered gems like sunflower seeds, corn nuggets, almonds, pistachios and the infamous chocorocks! But to get the full story on chocolate, and the factory, arrange a tour for you, your friends, or your family! They'll take you through a quick video about where chocolate comes from, how Kimmie came to be, and then give you a souvenir hairnet and take you through the whole factory to see where the magic happens! Give yourself about 30 minutes to an hour for the tour, and whether you eat any or not, be prepared to leave with a sugar high and smelling like chocolate for the rest of the day! It's in the air! Oh yeah, not to be missed is the FREE CANDY in the lobby! Try one or all of Kimmie's great products and grab some to share with friends at home. The candy here is whimsical and wonderful, and worthy of Wonka himself. Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp eat your hearts out and make room for Joe Dutra and Kimmie Candy Company in the long legacy of Candy Men through history!

    Reno's very own chocolate factory

I first heard about Kimmie Candy at the Yelp's Great NV Gift Swap event. Their VP of Business Development, Alex Johnson, shared the history of Kimmie Candy and gave us an idea of how kind and passionate the people are behind this business. Alex's personal story with Kimmie Candy was very compelling, and I was moved to reach out to him, not just to thank him for sharing his story, but also for giving out samples for our goodie bags from the event. Around this time, I was gathering some gifts to give to a non-profit organization in town, and I thought Kimmie Candy chocolates would be a great addition. Not only would the chocolates be a sure winner, I would also be supporting a local business in the process. I reached out to Alex and he was very accommodating right off the bat. He agreed to meet me at Kimmie Candy's chocolate factory. Yes, Reno has its own chocolate factory ala Willy Wonka (how did I not know about this before???). The facility is closed at the moment, but I could just see how magical a place this would be to visit for kids and chocoholics alike. There were all kinds of chocolates on display. Good thing I was focused on getting Christmas-y stuff. Otherwise, I would be so overwhelmed with all the varieties to choose from. I settled for festive choco chunks, peppermint choco rocks, salted caramel choco rocks, bear droppings, sunbursts (choc coated sunflower kernels), and for my own personal stash ~ dark chocolate covered espresso beans. Not only did Alex gave me a really deep discount, he threw in a bunch of extra samples as well. I was supposed to be there to support the business, but he ended up supporting me instead! I was so touched by his generosity. I am sure the recipients of the gifts would absolutely love the chocolates that Kimmie Candy generously provided. So, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU, Alex and Kimmie Candy. Reno is so lucky to have a business such as yours in this community. I cannot wait to visit when the factory reopens for tours!

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. Check out our hair nets. ;)

I took a group of special needs homeschoolers on a field trip tour of Kimmie Candy Company this afternoon. It was the second time that I have been on this tour (the other time was a couple of years ago) and it was just as great the second time! The children and teens had a blast! They have 2 tours a day for groups. One is at 1:30 and I believe the other option is at 10:30. You can stop by to set your group's tour or just give them a call. The tour takes you through most of the factory after you watch a couple of short videos telling about the company itself as well as all about chocolate. YUM! They will be moving really soon to a warehouse three times larger and in the same neighborhood. They will also be looking for more employees to help with so much growth. I believe the move will be by November 1st. The tour after they move will actually take you by more of the factory, so we all agreed that we will be returning after they get settled into the new place. The sample area is a delicious spot! We also LOVE the Oops Tubes! They are only $1, because something is a bit off on them... label is crooked, they are for a holiday that is now over, or they simply are not perfect in some way. They all still taste amazing, so that is where we start out in our shopping. Most of the special flavors are usually not available when I stop by, but it all still works out to a wonderful price for what you get. This is a great place to buy unique gifts, especially for chocolate and/or candy lovers. I love getting some stocking stuffers here, too.

On the weekends my family loves to sit and watch a bit of television. My hubby loves to watch Food Factory. We saw an episode about the Kimmie Candy Company and saw that they were located in Reno, NV, and I bookmarked it for our next trip out of town. I called a day ahead and booked a tour of the factory. When we got to the factory, we were greeted by a nice sales person. He showed an informative video about how chocolate was made. We had to put on a cap so that our hair would not touch candy. We were taken on a tour of the factory and gave us fun facts about the company. After the tour was over we were able to help ourselves with candy samples. * The price for the candy is worth the trip out. * It's a small factory, but it was still fun to see.

    Lots of samples!

We sat down and ordered the tea we liked. We each got to choose our own tea and was told we could try as many as we want. I liked the pacing; I was able to have a long conversation with my friend without feeling rushed and no interruptions. Everything that came out was delicious. The scone was a little too flaky, in my opinion, but was still very tasty. It didn't look like a lot of food, but we were both very satisfied. I am definitely going to bring my Mom back for this. Also, the mini cakes here (not included in high tea) are absolutely gorgeous. They are not too sweet, and remind me of what I used to get at cafes in Japan.
