Southern Roots had great reviews and they didn't disappoint. I had my hair colored by Amy and she was wonderful! She really knows her stuff and I felt really comfortable trusting her with my hair. I've been to many salons in the past where my hair did not come out the way I wanted (cut or colored). I was seriously SO surprised at the wonderful work Amy did. I have naturally black hair, and wanted to add a cool toned ashy blonde balayage. My hair turned out AMAZING. Went home and my husband was surprised, but absolutely loved it. Highly recommend!

Edited to add more info after the owner's response: I am out $300+ and my hair looks awful. I…read morerespect that your stylists get paid by commission, but in this case, no commission is deserved outside of the generous tip I left. I deserve to be refunded, period. - This was my first visit to Southern Roots, and while I had high hopes based on the stylist's reviews, my experience unfortunately didn't go as expected. When I left the appointment, my hair had been curled, which can easily mask issues with color or placement. It wasn't until I straightened it two days later that I saw the actual results, and it was clear that the outcome didn't match the inspo photos I shared or the conversation we had beforehand. I reached out right away with photos, and while the stylist responded kindly and offered to fix it, I ultimately decided I wasn't comfortable with another appointment. I was then told the salon doesn't offer refunds, and instead, the owner, who I did not book with would be the one to do the correction. As a first-time client, this doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel comfortable going back, and I don't believe I should have to. I am not asking for anything beyond a fair resolution, and a refund would allow me to go elsewhere and have the issue addressed by someone of my choosing. Out of respect, I won't name the stylist - I don't believe this policy is hers, and I know she's done great work for many others. But I do think the salon's refund policy and how this situation was handled deserve to be shared. I'm including photos (the inspo pictures and my result) so others can make their own judgment. I always prefer to handle these things privately, but I also believe in transparency, especially when your first experience as a client leaves you feeling dismissed.

Let me start off with Jessica, the owner's daughter, is one of the most unprofessional stylist I…read morehave ever met-and she wasn't even mine. My friend and I were very excited to try this place out because it looked so cute and had great reviews. We were both getting our hair colored and cut. The first two and a half hours were enjoyable, we all were laughing and joking, having a good time. Where it all went downhill was when Jessica turned my friend facing me and all I could see was a half inch of red hair dye stained all around her forehead. I asked if that was normal with what I am sure was a terrified look on my face. Both Jessica and my stylist, Margo, tried to blow it off and tell me and my friend that was normal and she could just "go home and use make-up remover". I should have spoken up more but was still in the process of getting my hair done. Margo did a great job with my color (but I found a color stain on one side of my head too-not near as bad as my friends) but my hair was not straightened well at all and I had to have her even it out in the front. I stayed pleasant and professional up until the point that they tried to hand me business cards for the next visit (my friend had already left) and I politely said that I did not agree with what the stain on my friend's head and how they reacted to it. That's when my friend came back in and showed them how bad it was. It took us pretty much arguing with them about it not being ok that my stylist, Margo, finally took out some wipes and tried to remove some of the stain. After speaking briefly to the owner about my friend's unhappy experience, we left. Shortly after we left Jessica called my friend and stated that it is "normal practice" for her to "leave an even line of dye on a forehead to avoid being completely obnoxious". What should have been a fun, enjoyable girls' day ended up a frustrating experience. We will never recommend or return to this business. I honestly feel the good reviews must have been from family because it seemed as not only the owner and employees but customers too-were all related or childhood friends. I have attached two pictures. 1. The cut and color I requested on the left, what I got on the right. 2. The dye stain on my head they let me walk out with-not even half as bad as my friends!

Definitely not the place to go for any kind of spa treatments. Visited this place a while back…read more Booked my appointment short notice. I needed a pedicure for two with hot stone leg massages. This was the only place that could get us in... The salon itself is unique. Kitschy diner shop decor, random stuff everywhere... If you are looking for a peaceful salon/spa like setting then trust me when I say this definitely isn't it. The pedicure room was super small, the room made me feel like I was in a broom closet more then in a salon or spa. The girls performing our treatment were nice at least & offered us drinks, soda. As they were about to wrap things up I reminded them that I had asked for a hot stone massage. They had no prior knowledge of this. So, that led to them bickering a bit with the manager because neither one of them knew how to perform a hot stone massage. Well, they finally came to the conclusion that they could just "figure it out." I would later disagree. The stones they used were so small, pebble sized and were not hot at all! The massage was weak and very rushed. I love a good hot stone pedicure massage so I was pretty bummed to have this one turn out so poorly. In conclusion, I'm not sure who would enjoy this salon but it's not a place I'll be going back to or recommending to anybody I know.
