Geoff B. Is right! This place really does make the great Chicken Satay soup. Normally I go for the regular Beef Noodle soup, but I was feely saucy and wanted a change. Oh man, I wasn't sorry I switched. It's not that the Beef Noodle soup isn't delicious as well, I just get that most often when I go out for Vietnamese. In fact, everything from Kim Lan seems to hit the spot for quality and quantity. Rest-assured you won't be leaving this place hungry, unless you're only getting a drink or something really, really small. For the most part, the portions of food you get are huge and definitely filling! I find the prices to be about the same as other Vietnamese places around the city, so it doesn't beat any store out on that. What it does beat other places for is the service. I find this restaurant to be extremely quick when making meals. Most Vietnamese places are dine-in, but Kim Lan seems more like a fast food restaurant. It's great if you're craving Vietnamese but don't have time to sit and eat. Yummy Kim Lan will satisfy your every Vietnamese craving. And they really are oh so yummy!

Review Highlights - Kim Lan Vietnamese Restaurant

I go to Kim Lan quite frequently, as I have yet to find a restaurant that tops their Chicken Satay soup.

Traditional Lan Zhou Hand Pulled Noodle since 1915. Place your order via kiosk. Easy to navigate. The female employee helped us answer questions. Coincidentally, our order number was 888. I selected Hand Pulled Noodle in Beef Soup with flat and wide noodles. Female employee asked me if I would like chili oil on the side. Hard to resist. I'm happy I accepted the offer because the chili oil tasted very fresh and added some spice and depth to the soup. Absolutely comforting and satisfying with and without chili oil. Same employee was very kind, thoughtful and forward thinking to ask if I would like the Deep Fried Steamed Bun with condensed milk now or toward the end of my meal. I responded, "At the end of my meal, please." Pillowy soft on inside, heat hot in its entirety, with slight crunch on outside. Dessert complemented condensed milk. Highly recommend. Free parking. Worth visiting and returning.

It was a pleasant surprise to partake of Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles which were like silk! Tons of lamb choices. I'm always down for lamb and I was in my element. My lamb noodle dish had those "curtain noodles" with tons of vegetables and highly seasoned lamb - cumin and chili - 100% Northern Chinese. So delicious. Spouse had a lovely braised beef soup with thin noodles, scented with five-spice My only minor criticism is that my lamb noodles were a tad oily. Portions are large, prices are what they are these days. Highly recommend!

Full of flavor despite it being vegan. We stopped by on our travels craving Vietnamese food and…read morethis place really hit all the right notes. The restaurant was pretty spacious and not very busy on a Saturday late afternoon. The place however was a little warm inside, maybe the AC wasn't working as they had some fans on. We ordered the vermicelli dish and pad Thai as the staff told us it was their most popular dish. The pad Thai was indeed one of our favorite. It had a unique smoky flavor to it. We also ordered the pho and eggplant dish. The pho had a surprisingly rich flavor. I would definitely recommend the pho. Overall we were very pleased with our meal and left full with hardly any left overs.

Being a vegetarian, I have had a hard time getting pho that's flavorful but the chefs here have magic in their hands, they have put so much heart and effort in packing so much flavor in their broths! I had the Sate Tofu Noodle Soup, ah can't get the taste out of my head!! Such richness, the freshness of the house made tofu paired with soft rice noodles was just beyond perfection!! The Pad Thai was also delicious: it missed one thing: crushed peanuts which we usually get at Thai restaurants. The restaurant has a very calm and peaceful auto to it!!! Full of large plants and a meditation area, it's a nice getaway from the corporate hustle outside. The place closes at 8, so reach early.
