I guess you could say I have some "unique" teeth another dentist told me I needed to see a gum specialist, but Dr. Dunk took one look and figured out it was actually a baby tooth still attached to my adult tooth. Something super rare, and even though he'd never seen it before, he was confident, explained everything clearly, and handled it like a pro. He saved me time, money, and unnecessary procedures. I felt like I was in great hands the entire time. Highly recommend this dental office if you're looking for honest, skilled, and professional care!

Her friend's son was organizing a Blood Drive in conjunction with the annual Blood Drive that a dentist's office in Kailua sponsors every 4th of July weekend. Hmmm... She knows that I am a regular blood donor. I was scheduled to donate in June, and I juggled my schedule around so that I could support two worthwhile projects at the same time! This event was well organized with live music; free shared parking in the lot next to Jack In The Box on Oneawa Street; and goodie bags for donors! It made me want to participate every year! If you're able to donate blood, please consider signing up for a convenient bloodmobile near you - or at the Dillingham or Young Street locations of the Blood Bank of Hawaii. Thanks to Dr. K.B. Chun and Sons for this fun and useful annual community event! I'm looking forward to participating again next year!

The experience here is inconsistent. I have an assigned dentist who is one of the younger sons or…read moregrandsons. When I've seen him, I have had a thorough exam and discussion. However, I never see the same person in sequence for teeth cleaning and when the older doctors come in afterwards, it's really cursory - no jaw exam no tongue exam, one didn't even touch my teeth or look in my mouth. Then they applied resin by almost spraying it on. There was resin on my gums and a thick layer on my teeth with globs between my teeth. They most definitely did not paint it on. It was so gross. I water picked it off after an hour. I think I'm not going back there. The front desk staff is very nice and it is a pleasant office. I know a lot of people in Kailua really like them and they are good community citizens, but this is the third Cleaning visit. I've been disappointed, today was the worst. Maybe it's just my bad timing.

My daughter is 3 now and had some minor staining on her teeth which I was concerned about, so we went in for a visit for preventative measures to make sure it didn't worsen. Happy to find out it was cosmetic and that it happens with young kids. Dr. Chun is wonderful with children and I can see that he takes a lot of care and is very patient. She got to pet a the labradoodle support dog, got a sticker and a little prize in the end. My daughter asked me when we were coming back!! What kid looks forward to going to the dentist?? Thanks to the great experience with Dr. Chun, she is comfortable and excited to go to the dentist. They even have children's books in the waiting room. The staff is also friendly. I've been his patient for over a decade, making him by far the longest medical relationship I've had. I've always said that if life ever took either of us away from beautiful Hawai'i, he'd be the doctor I'd miss the most. The level of care he provides is extraordinary, and it was evident from my very first visit. His genuine concern and dedication to his patients are truly one-of-a-kind. As someone with a dental phobia and a history of medical trauma, I've always dreaded dental appointments. But Dr. Hayashi has completely changed that for me and each encounter leaves me feeling grateful to have him on my healthcare team. His commitment to patient well-being and his accountability in fostering a better community is exceptional. Over the years, he's been a part of some major changes in my life, and I feel a special kinship with him. We've made incredible progress in my dental journey, and I'm proud of the place we've gotten to together. I'd also like to recognize the amazing front office team--Kerrie, Abi , and the other staff member (whose name I didn't catch). They play such an essential role in keeping everything running smoothly, and I'm always thankful for their friendly and efficient service. Dental assistant Ashlee deserves special mention as well. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and zero regard for patients. I'd been complaining about my tooth for months and was told nothing was wrong. Enduring the pain, turned out to be fractured....causing an issue that could have been avoided. Staff informed me that this nearly $1500 procedure where I was responsible for at least half would be "no problem" when I asked to pay monthly, so I agreed to the amount where they said we can work out the payments after. But in the end they demanded full payment immediately and refused any partial payment. To me, it's insult to injury when this was an inconvenient bill that could've been prevented. The fact that I've ALWAYS paid the full amount no matter the cost and asked for them to work with me tells me they DON'T know their customers and they are NOT a family oriented business.
