I had the first pain free dental procedure at Kailua Dental with Dr. Castro. I didn't even feel the needle or the anesthetic. There. Was. No. Pain. I had to have an expansive filling removed and replaced and felt no pain. I keep repeating it because it amazes me so much to not feel pain at the dentist. Dr. Castro was also great about talking through everything that would be done and asking permission about doing things. The office, as a whole, is awesome, with friendly receptionists, kind hygienists, tvs, and comfy chairs. I will never go anywhere else.

However, I never see the same person in sequence for teeth cleaning and when the older doctors come in afterwards, it's really cursory - no jaw exam no tongue exam, one didn't even touch my teeth or look in my mouth. Then they applied resin by almost spraying it on. There was resin on my gums and a thick layer on my teeth with globs between my teeth. They most definitely did not paint it on. It was so gross. I water picked it off after an hour. I think I'm not going back there. The front desk staff is very nice and it is a pleasant office. I know a lot of people in Kailua really like them and they are good community citizens, but this is the third Cleaning visit. I've been disappointed, today was the worst. Maybe it's just my bad timing.

Her friend's son was organizing a Blood Drive in conjunction with the annual Blood Drive that a dentist's office in Kailua sponsors every 4th of July weekend. Hmmm... She knows that I am a regular blood donor. I was scheduled to donate in June, and I juggled my schedule around so that I could support two worthwhile projects at the same time! This event was well organized with live music; free shared parking in the lot next to Jack In The Box on Oneawa Street; and goodie bags for donors! It made me want to participate every year! If you're able to donate blood, please consider signing up for a convenient bloodmobile near you - or at the Dillingham or Young Street locations of the Blood Bank of Hawaii. Thanks to Dr. K.B. He did my daughter's tongue tie…read moreprocedure when she was an infant and we've been going to him ever since, even though we don't live in Winward. My daughter is 3 now and had some minor staining on her teeth which I was concerned about, so we went in for a visit for preventative measures to make sure it didn't worsen. Happy to find out it was cosmetic and that it happens with young kids. Dr. Chun is wonderful with children and I can see that he takes a lot of care and is very patient. She got to pet a the labradoodle support dog, got a sticker and a little prize in the end. My daughter asked me when we were coming back!! What kid looks forward to going to the dentist?? Thanks to the great experience with Dr. Chun, she is comfortable and excited to go to the dentist. They even have children's books in the waiting room. The staff is also friendly. Well worth the travel for us.

Dr. Chun performed the dental laser procedure at their Kailua office and provided in-depth post-procedure care to follow. He even called a week later to follow up with us and to make sure there were no complications. Our baby is eating better now and less fussy, we are so grateful to Dr. Chun and his team.

The procedure was super quick and the doctor was very friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable and understood how lip tie could affect the baby. Since the procedure I have been able to breastfeed and my baby is so much happier now that she can latch!! NO ALOHA, NOT OHANA…read more I asked for help but I was disregarded. I asked for flexibility because it wasn't part of my original treatment plan and was denied. Poor communication, lack of accountability, and zero regard for patients. I'd been complaining about my tooth for months and was told nothing was wrong. Enduring the pain, turned out to be fractured....causing an issue that could have been avoided. Staff informed me that this nearly $1500 procedure where I was responsible for at least half would be "no problem" when I asked to pay monthly, so I agreed to the amount where they said we can work out the payments after. But in the end they demanded full payment immediately and refused any partial payment. To me, it's insult to injury when this was an inconvenient bill that could've been prevented. The fact that I've ALWAYS paid the full amount no matter the cost and asked for them to work with me tells me they DON'T know their customers and they are NOT a family oriented business. Unless my mind is changed, help me find a new dentist!!
