With such high ratings what could go wrong? The mushy and soft caramel that melted as soon as you ate it and the small crystallized grains of sugar was unpleasant. Caramel is suppose to be firmer and chewy. What a disappointment. Maybe we got a bad batch? Old batch? My caramel apple was the same consistency, caramel rubbed right off when I was trying to eat it. The store is very pretty though with all the caramel apples lined up at the window. The service was very good and we were helped right away. This place came recommended by Beans, who was the guide at the rapids place. With that said, I can't thank her enough for pointing us to this place. We walked in and it's like a candy lovers wonder land! We were greeted and asked if there was anything specific we were looking for. I told him I was told to stop by but I wasn't sure what I wanted. So this is where the hospitality started. I was eyeing the fudge, so he suggested I get a sample. I wasn't sure which ice cream I wanted, he suggested I sample . . . So sample I did until we figured out what we wanted. We took a seat outside and enjoyed the ice cream, took some fudge and other treats home and I haven't stopped raving about them to everyone. Horrible. I had a taste for fudge, and I was sooooooo disappointed when I tried to appease my craving with Kilwins! I got my order by way of Door Dash last night, March 26, Friday. That part of the experience was pleasant. But as soon as I took the bag from the delivery person and closed my door, it went downhill from there. I ordered two pieces of fudge, including the peanut butter. The other was only slightly gross. But the peanut butter fudge was horrid. It was hard. White/chalky and dry. It was brittle and turned into crumbs easily. It, in no way, had the dense, soft, "rich" texture of fudge. It also only had a very faint peanut butter taste. I figured that since I wasn't an "in store" customer they figured that they could just send me anything, so they did. I guess I got the old, dried out pieces they figured they could pawn off on someone not visiting the store in person. Their fudge is not cheap, either...I wasted a GOOD amount of money because each piece is $11. And I paid $11 for some hard, dry, fudge. We love Kilwins! We are originally from Michigan so it is nice to be able to get some of our Michigan favorite treats like mackinaw fudge and Superman ice cream right here in Columbus! Although some selections can be a bit pricey the customer service has never been off. If you haven't tried Superman ice cream I'd totally suggest you do. It's a hidden gem and if you are from the north it tastes a little bit like home. :) read more

I really don't like the "tip suggestion" when using the type of "register" they have. I like to come and get A scoop of cookies and cream ice cream whenever I'm downtown they have some of the best ice cream I've ever had! Their ice cream comes from their own dairy farm from grass fed cows a plus in my book! They have buckeyes the size of golf balls that are good just know it's a heaping amount of peanut butter with a thin coat of chocolate -- I myself would prefer it have a bit more chocolate to balance out the peanut butter. I've visited this location a few times. First few visits were fine. Last visit, earlier this week, I gratefully took advantage of the curbside delivery. It was easy, service was efficient and quick. Entire transaction took about 5 minutes, from order to delivery. I was disappointed that they only had a few kinds of fudge available, and not the walnut fudge I really wanted, and the main item I wanted, they only had a few of. And yes, it is all quite pricey. Also, I wish they had a complete menu on the website, instead of just a few specials, etc. Today, I tried to order curbside again. Terrible. I called at about 1:55 pm to place my order. Someone picked up the phone, but didn't say "hello" or any other greeting. I said "hello? hello" and gave them a minute. Nothing. But I could hear background noise. So I hung up and called right back. Busy signal. I called again several times, giving up at about 2:35. Still, the busy signal. Like the person who answered didn't want to be bothered by the ringing phone, so just took and kept the phone off the hook. Super frustrating. The only thing that could have made this worse would have been if I had called in my order, then called in and had the non-stop busy signal when I arrived to pick it up!! Because when you call in the order, you pay. I don't think I'll be trying again anytime soon. read more

This is my first time visiting this establishment ever. I enjoyed a single cup of vanilla ice cream on a nice sunny afternoon. It was so good that I would definitely recommend the ice cream to my friends and family. However, the service was terrible. I was not acknowledged and skipped over by one of the employees. Then after I had finished paying, I requested a receipt (because for some reason I guess the 1st employee who rang me up forgot that people still like to have those). So while the 2nd employee was getting the receipt for me, the 1st employee tried to see what the hold up was and stated "oh her card didn't go through?" super loud as if the ice cream isn't $5. And then he asked "why" I needed a receipt.....just no respect for me or my business. Basically the ice cream is great but the service is not good. The stars are for the ice cream only!!!! I most likely won't come here again. I hope the other locations have better service. read more

This is the 2nd time I've been to Kilwins and found a hair in something. This time, it was one of the ice cream flavors. Last time, it was on the tray where the fudge is on to be sold. As soon as we walked in, we knew we were interrupting a gossip conversation by how the 2 workers looked up and dispersed from the back of the store before adamantly greeting us. One went back to making treats while the other patiently waited on us to pick out what we wanted. When finally telling her what we were picking out, I asked for the white chocolate covered Rice Krispie treat. She mumbled something and said "which one" and I said "there's only one" and kept pointing at the only Rice Krispie great covered in white chocolate (the other 2 options were milk chocolate covered with sprinkles). She smacked her lips realizing she was on the wrong shelf and finally grabbed the Rice Krispie treat. She rang me up and didn't tell me my total and the whole transaction was silent as I waited for her to tell me a total because it wasn't visible on my side. I finally asked and she mumbled something inaudibly. I asked "sorry, what was it?" I've been to a handful of Kilwins locations and have always loved their ice cream, fudge and chocolate creations - this location did NOT disappoint :) The owners were both there and very courteous/friendly, as well as their staff. Being from Los Angeles California I missed my favorite candy store Mary see's growing up it was always the highlight of going to Sears in Los Angeles because See's Candies was always down stairs where the catalogs were and my grandmother would let us get two pieces of candy each my sister and I now that I have been in Columbus for the past 10 years I do miss my all-time favorite candy shop C and have always wished Columbus had a candy shop well thank you God my prayers have been answered now there is Kilwins downtown Broadway the candy here is awesome I spent $30 on my first visit today and plan to come back and spend an additional $30 on my next visit they had a special on the fudge buy two get one free I like fudge. There's also an extra special thing about this candy shop they make homemade candies right in the window as they watch one more plus they have ice cream great flavors I was just blown away with the chocolate banana ice cream it was great everyone should check out Kilwins downtown on Broadway in Columbus Georgia because it is a very sweet treat I enjoyed it and I know you will too thanks so much Kilwins for bringing back that little special sweet treats in my life read more
