We held a family reunion for 28 people at the Killington Big House this June. The owner, Todd, was very responsive to our many questions about the amenities of the house and what activities we could do in the area. We had quite a few emails go back and forth with lots of little questions because I wanted everything to go well for our family get together. I often got responses back in a few hours or less.
The house is within a few miles of the ski areas in Killington. We spent an afternoon taking a ride up Mt Killington in the gondolas, visited Thundering Falls just down the road a little, and did some shopping in Woodstock.
Around the house itself we played whiffle-ball and corn-hole --which are long time family traditions. The living room was big enough for all of us to sit and talk, and we even held a surprise bridal shower for one of our nieces. Some watched the soccer games on one of the large TVs, while others played board games and others played ping pong. That was really nice--we all had room to be together, yet many nooks and crannies to be in smaller groups. It was the perfect setting for us to spend quality time together.
There are two sizeable kitchens will all you need to prepare meals. All 28 of us were able to sit together in the dining area. There are 12 bedrooms--which worked great for us since me and my 3 siblings have a number of married kids. The rooms were all spacious and most beds were either queen size or king size (a must for some of us tall Dutch people). Many rooms had their own bathrooms, and some had shared.
Though not planned to coincide with the reunion, my wife and I celebrated our 35th anniversary that week -- we honeymooned exactly 35 years prior in Vermont, but had not been back since. We we reminded how peaceful and gorgeous Vermont is! read more
